Madonna And Lady Gaga Bitch Fight on SNL

Lady Gaga and Madonna get into a bitch fight during a skit last night on Saturday Night Live. Lady Gaga was the musical guest, Ryan Reynolds hosted.

The skit isn’t very funny, and unfortunately it takes a couple of minutes to get to the bitch slapping and hair pulling.

“Lady Gaga sounds like a baby food,” says Madonna. Ha ha?   PS: Madonna is still a terrible actress. But, a badly written script isn’t helping her.

Madonna can’t act, and that was torture to watch. Lady Gaga really can sing, and she’s a dynamic performer. Yep, she’s gimmicky, but there is some talent beyond the kitch.

SNL is the same as it has always been. Since the first season it has been hit and miss. The thing is, the hits are so amazing that we are still quoting to this day. Recent hilarity came with Ben Afleck & Target Lady (seen it 20x), James Franco & Cougars, Andy’s Shorts (giraffes!), lots of others.

The trick is to record the show and watch in the morning with the fast forward. Then you don’t feel cheated when a skit falls flat.

That skit DID suck and yes, Madonna has never been able to act and never will. Though for me personally I think her best performance was in Dick Tracy, which I love that film visually and I adore Glenne Headly and like some of Sondheim. Plus her role in that film was mostly visual, which is really where her strength lies. “Don’t speak. Don’t speak!” (yes, another film, but it applies).

And I really liked the second performance by Lady GaGa as well and I even liked all the rings, and even at the piano because just her eyes and mouth would be visible to the cameras most of the time with the head on shot, framed as it was by the rings. And even like that she put on an excellent performance of just her voice and piano skills after some weird gyroscope synthed Love Game thang. Well done.

What’s worse, it could have easily been two SNL players dressed as GaGa & Madonna.

Ummm…I thought it was. So did my son. We turned it off just after…LOL…

I missed SNL, but I love Lady Gaga. She is awesome and a way better singer than Madonna.

That was pretty lame lol. I liked Lady Gaga’s performance though

So, I had to watch it. That skit was so unfunny.

I do not understand why GaGa can’t just sing without head gear or a metallic hula hoop. Thankfully, we got to see her face most of the time (and I like the song Paparazzi; that and Just Dance are my favorite songs on her album). At least there was no blood this time. She has a very strong voice, is obviously comfortable on stage (‘hello, SNL,’ LOL) and plays the piano very well, so..just sing, GaGa. JUST SING.

But… but… if she just sang it wouldn’t be as interesting! Her Saturn hoops are the bomb. They worked better on the Ellen show, but they’re still ridiculous and OTT and strange and lovely. She is in orbit okay? It’s important to be in orbit.

Plus if she just sang she wouldn’t sell :(

IDK, but can’t figure why someone might think it is a comedown for Madonna to be featured with Lady Ga Ga. They are both outrageous
posers and both their reps survive on just how over the top creatively they can be. Neither are great singers but they are both great performers. JMHO. I love Madonna and I’m liking Ga Ga. I find they both do great dance music.
So Madonna is a proven entity with lots of miles of experience and as well, a strange yet compelling off the wall kind of chemistry. Ga Ga, well, she is an infant terrible, who could follow in her wake if she if she can keep a clear vision and has, at least half of Madonnas smarts!!!

  • I adore Lady Gaga. Saw her live in August when she came to Singapore. She’s a great performer. My only problem was that I was standing too far away to be able to watch her performances clearly. She’s so much more fascinating close-up in front of a TV camera.

I don’t think her album does her justice because not all the songs were great and there wasn’t enough room to allow her develop her best songs (Paparazzi and Poker Face). She works much better as a complete visual act. I hope her next album will have better songs overall and help her build a stronger performance repertoire.

  • Mary102:

Lady Gaga was awesome in the performances, but that skit was pretty cringe worthy – talk about awkwardly written and performed. Neither was really up to the task of actually “acting”, but then, as MJ pointed out, the material wasn’t exactly helping them out either. Just bad. You’d think they could come up with something a little more inspired.

The skit was bad, but I really liked the performances, especially the second one.

Well, but isn’t that a problem? I liked her second performance a lot–IMO, it didn’t need a Saturn ring. Maybe that’s just me?
