   Why are backup singers coming forward now? More and more backup singers trying for Idol, and really, I don’t think they’re all that GREAT! Do they make much money touring with star singers?

   Wow, Chic-sally….we think so differently on this. I thought Melinda Doolittle was terrific and I have seen Melanie in concert with Taylor and I loved her voice. I may be a little prejudice here because I come from a very musical family and have nephews that sing with bands….all genres…and usually they (the backup singers ) are talent waiting to breakout! It will be fun to see how Melanie does…I hope the result is better than what happened to Melinda! Frankly, she was my favorite from last year…*sigh*!

   Just like singers in general the talent level is not static. Not all singers are created equal, that includes backgroud singers. Melanie is a good singer.

   I like Melanie, too. I do think she sounded tentative when she auditioned, though.

   when you look at raw rehearsal footage, you get to hear the singer, warts and all. she’s just practicing casually. but that’s a very silky smooth voice and a very attractive young lady to boot.

   I hope we see more of her during hollywood week.

   I don’t like her that much. Her audition was blah, and this video doesn’t do much for me. Her voice doesn’t have any richness. She is beautiful, though.

   She’s very pretty. i didn’t see her audition but this video doesn’t do much for me. She wasn’t with Taylor when I saw him.

   Based on what I’ve seen so far, I like the strapping farm boy. :) But I’m sure by the end of next week, we’ll findout that he’s Donald Trump’s nephew and has already been dropped from two major labels… sigh.

   Based on what I’ve seen so far, I like the strapping farm boy. :)

   Lu, could it have anything to do with him reminding you of Josh Turner? Because that (and you maybe thinking that) was what I suddenly thought of when he started to sing. Heh. ;)
