What terrific news! Can’t wait to be able to buy some of her music! It was a long time coming so I hope she’s able to do it the way she wants to.

Very cool news!! I always liked her on the show and felt she deserved a deal. Wonder what kind of genre she’ll be aiming for? Congrats!!

That is wonderful! She was by far the best singer last season, and I’d love to see her succeed.

I’m a little surprised, but VERY happy for her.

Melinda has killer vocals. I wonder what kind of music she’ll make too. If she does include a little Gospel, she’ll kick some serious arse. I remember when she completely owned BeBe and CeCe Winans in the Finale.

I just remember her mentioning something about working with Jonny Lang. My fingers are crossed that this actually happened because he’s awesome….

I’m perfectly fine with visits from street teamers, as long as you follow my guidelines. If you don’t, I delete your post.

A Kinder, Gentler teamer reply, then.

Melinda has hardly been sitting at home by the phone waiting for a deal! She’s been very busy making appearances at corporate and public functions, hosting various charitable events, singing at galas for various causes (including Malaria No More) and traveling to Tanzania as part of the US Delegation to the Leon Sullivan Summit on African developmental and social issues. On top of all of that, Melinda has managed to record a newer, groove-inspired version of My Funny Valentine (released on Feb 12 through iTunes and Amazon.com) and work on her debut CD! :clap_tb:

It doesn’t matter what music Melinda releases because she has proven that she is a genuine lead vocalist whose only real competition is herself.

This is terrific news! It’s been hard to see that such a talented singer as Melinda had not gotten a record deal. All that exposure on AI and then such quiet back from the industry. Well, better late than never. I hope this CD tears it up, big-time!

I’m really happy for Melinda. This news has been a long time coming but I have no doubts in my mind that she has been working so hard. :)

Well, that’s one Christmas present set for my DH. He’ll be exstatic!

    Good for Melinda!

I doubt she’ll set the music industry on fire; but I’m positive she has and will be making a VERY good living for herself. She’s one smart cookie and from my point of view has made all the right moves that an independent artist should make.

Finally. Melinda is awesome. I love her Funny Valentine. It’s fresh and sultry, the vocals on that show who was the voice of that season. Glad to hear that I am going to get more from her. Brava!

Finally, the saving grace of Season 6 gets what she deserves. I hope she does so well. Arguably the best voice ever on Idol.
