love you, MJ, but blues should be your religion.

  2. 2 Hisaki Apr 19th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Haha, nice shirt. That’d be more fit for Cookie, though. His should say “ROCK-SOUL” (or something along those lines), since that’s what he’s been saying is what type of music he’s going to be putting out, all along.

  3. 3 Steph Apr 19th, 2008 at 1:37 pm

    oh yeah, rock-soul not blues…

  4. 4 bean99 Apr 19th, 2008 at 2:30 pm

Is the shirt homemade or one made to look homemade? Either way I don’t really like it although he looks good anyway.

  5. 5 Hisaki Apr 19th, 2008 at 2:51 pm

It looks homemade, and the shirt itself looks cheap. I’m sure even if it was made to look homemade, they’d have chosen a thicker fabric and not made the G look all that messy. LOL.

  6. 6 purplesmile Apr 19th, 2008 at 3:18 pm

Maybe he just saw it somewhere, picked it up, and wore it for fun (just like he did the Dolly shirt)? ;)

  7. 7 primeminister Apr 19th, 2008 at 4:40 pm

It should read: Rock is the reason for the negative judges’ comments I received.

He looks good to me anyway.

  8. 8 Lu Apr 19th, 2008 at 5:19 pm

Wow MJ gets a lot of airtime here. Hmmm… is it because he’s called MJ or is MJ crushin on MJ? :)

  9. 9 maracaibo Apr 19th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

I love all this MJ attention. Thanks mj!
I just know he is going to do just fine after Idol is over. Can’t wait for the day he announces his record deal..
Hopefully he will be one of the successful idol cast offs like Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry.
I don’t really like the shirt either, but he looks HOT as always… Love him.

Is it stating the obvious to say it could be a subtle reaction to having to sing the Yay Jesus! song on IGB?

  11. 11 joydrop Apr 19th, 2008 at 7:16 pm

Actually, he said he was happy to sing that song on the show, which surprised me a bit.

And he totally found that shirt at H&M or Urban Outfitters and paid $50 for it or something.

It’s all we have now, Lu. :down_tb: That and rewatching his interviews, lol.

  14. 14 Lu Apr 19th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

Like I said bean… not complainin… he’s mighty easy on the eyes! :)

It’s even more money than that :lol_tb:

I can’t believe that shirt actually exists in a store. I honestly thought he took a Hanes v neck and scribbled on it. Doh. Something tells me David Foster would not approve of this shirt LOL

Just a heads up Access Hollywood Monday night is doing a “Day In The Life” segment on Michael. I think Thursday they followed him around. And tomorrow he’s going to be at the Toyota Grand Prix. I’m loving this MJ overload.

  16. 16 joydrop Apr 19th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

Man, I’m in the wrong business. I need to get me some shoe polish and white t-shirts. 600% profit? Yes, please.

  17. 17 sciencefan Apr 19th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

I don’t know why but whenever I look at MJ all I can see is his uncombed hair. It’s not an arranged sort of messy. It’s an unkempt sort of messy. I just find it unattractive.

  18. 18 Steph Apr 19th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

    OMG, that shirt costs $61 on that website….wow. That’s alot of money for a cheap-o Hanes-looking T-shirt!

  19. 19 abbysee Apr 19th, 2008 at 11:00 pm

Hell, I will neaten it for him, surely I will. I love MJ overload. Seriously, I am glad he is getting all of this attention. On this blog and elsewhere, he’s a talented, sexy guy.

  20. 20 4got Apr 19th, 2008 at 11:07 pm

He’s so hot. They should get him to replace Simon after two years; he has snarky humor according to the idols. Everyone will be switching on to watch him.

  21. 21 taran33 Apr 19th, 2008 at 11:33 pm

At least he’s not wearing an ascot!

  22. 22 purplesmile Apr 20th, 2008 at 2:15 am

Trina, I didn’t get to thank you for the EW video link in the other thread, so I’ll do it here. Thanks. :)

So much for my theory. Heh. :tongue1_tb:

    So am I. :D

I knew he would get some extra attention due to his shocking elimination. I keep remembering Paula’s words, (yes, sometimes she makes sense) she said, it’s time to get on with your career. Most of them don’t even have a career until after the idol tour. Seems MJ is getting a head start. But, it’s ok, I like him.

I think replacing Simon with MJ would be an awesome idea. He is witty, and, has that Aussie accent. Wonder if he can become Mr. Nasty? I’m sure anyone could if the price is right.

  24. 24 carolina Apr 20th, 2008 at 3:03 am

I kinda like the shirt - artistic cutting edge.

There are all kinds of grunge fonts out there and many are free. Type it out, 10 seconds, silkscreen one color. Bam.

The cost to produce that shirt was no more than $10.00 and that ’s if it’s done in the USA — overseas, $4.00 max, If it’s marketed to the right boutique in the right place, people will pay whatever they ask and probably leave a tip!

if it’s homemade, it costs ways more but not $50 or $60.00. But, it won’t have the same look.

Urban Outfitters is the parent company to Anthropologie who is ripping you off all day long ! Enjoy!

  25. 25 carolina Apr 20th, 2008 at 3:18 am

Also, that’s just a grunge font, which might very well be a free font.

Type and put on shirt. Make a killing !

Don’t think so. I think he’s making a statement that rock is his genre and where ppl should never mess with another’s religion, neither should they mess with one’s genre of music. Get that Simon?

Booted “American Idol” contestant, Michael Johns, made a special appearance on the Access stage, and boy, did we have a big surprise for him

    http://www.lvtsg.com/news/publish/peeps/article_24721.shtml

Could somebody please tell me what’s on this video? Or maybe someone has an alternate link? This one cannot be streamed outside of the US. :(

  28. 28 RollTide Apr 20th, 2008 at 8:01 am

    Ummmm Michael…………..

Off to program the DVR for Access. :) Thanks for the heads-up, Trina!

  29. 29 Lisa Apr 20th, 2008 at 8:05 am

Purple, the *surprise* was David Foster dropping by and *offering* him some advice. I have seen this video before, it is where he sings *Ain’t no Sunshine* and David has him sing in a softer voice. Just giving him some helpful type of advice is all. Michael also talked about Dolly calling him. This vid has been around for a few days. Hope that helps.

  30. 30 purplesmile Apr 20th, 2008 at 8:35 am

Oh, I see, Lisa. Thanks. I thought it was something else. I’d hate to miss any of the Michael clips. I had seen that one, of course. ;D

  31. 31 Trina Apr 20th, 2008 at 9:30 am

There’s actually two different videos, the one where David makes him sing Ain’t No Sunshine in the most droolworthy soft voice imaginable and then the surprise video is the one where David invites him to sing in his Vegas concert on 5/23. No I didn’t watch the Ain’t No Sunshine clip a couple of hundred times..

  32. 32 bean99 Apr 20th, 2008 at 11:14 am

I have no problem with MJ overload either. :wub_tb: If you still need more there are fan sites (Michael Johns Online & Michael Johns Fans) out there and I enjoy TWOP’s MJ thread.

This is a cute pic of Michael and his mom when she was here. According to this they were singing “Sweet Caroline” and bothering the neighbors. I wonder if that was a clue to what he wanted to sing on Neil Diamond week?

Is MJ going to be AI7’s Daughtry? I guess AI6 didn’t have a Daughtry. :)

  34. 34 bean99 Apr 20th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

I don’t know, Lu, but I do think he’s getting a lot of the same treatment after his surprising boot. I think he’s done himself a lot of good in his interviews because he’s coming across as personable, good looking, and his performances have been good. At this point I’m just hoping he gets signed and comes up with a good cd that will be radio friendly.

  35. 35 bean99 Apr 20th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Sorry about back to back posts but here’s another interview with US mag (thanks to TWOP). http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=VQhwaZwVR2s

  36. 36 dante Apr 20th, 2008 at 12:30 pm

What a hot hot picture to start off a Sunday!!!! Glad to see all the MJ love here - count me in!

  37. 37 Trina Apr 20th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

I’m intrigued by the David Foster connection myself. I suppose it could be a total coincidence that his former bands CD was recently released under Maverick - now Warner, and David Foster is a higher up at Warner..and he almost signed Michael a year ago, now the Vegas thing. I dont know, in the AH clip he seemed to be a little too intent on convincing Michael he ain’t no rawker.

  38. 38 bean99 Apr 20th, 2008 at 5:07 pm

I don’t think he almost signed Michael last year, Trina. He said he met with him but wasn’t interested. Michael did say he’s also met with 19 before and had a good experience so wouldn’t be adverse to signing with them if they’re interested.
