It’s official. I hate America.

I blame Randy and Simon. They didn’t give him enough credit on the nights he deserved it. It left the public thinking he wasn’t stepping up enough. I think they were too nit picky with him. He was just one of my favorites but that last week, I realized he had stepped up to my number 1. DANGIT!
This performance was exquisite!
My first reaction when I heard Michael was cut? “Boo, America!” As I am not American, I hesitated posting it here. But what the heck…

He should have done it like that on the show, with the guitar and piano. He seems so much more comfortable now, doing his own little mini tour. His “shocking” exit might work out very well for him in the long run.
Really — he’s shown us so much more of himself since he left. He’s got a nice sense of humor, nevermind all grace and dignity handling the foolishness of the show. I really hope he does well. Smoldering, that one.

(He made me love him somewhere along the line in these interviews when referring to his wife… ’she’s hot!’ love him for that shout out to her.)
This is a good omen for Michael…he’s getting a lot more shows and press than the other Idols booted off. He met Demi Moore and sang for her…he might record with Dolly….what more could he want? Be happy for Michael, we will see him again. The trick is to get management and get good songs…get songwriters who want to write for you…and he’s on his way.

I agree the shocking boot combined with the major sympathy he’s getting from Nigel’s toolish stunt may turn out to be the best thing for him. I’m actually really excited about this David Foster connection now. He weirds me out but after seeing what he did with him at that piano on Access Hollywood I would love to see what he could really do with him. That was some serious raw talent he pulled out of MJ. Foster seemed pretty serious about that Vegas concert deal. If it’s a go I may even consider making the trip.

Michael sounded great in that clip. I have to say that I wasn’t a fan while he was on the show, he always seemed so stiff to me. He seems much more comfortable with himself on this little mini tour. I think it shows in his performances.

Cute guy, good voice. I’m just not sure where in music a Micheal Johns fits today. He seems like someone who could make it in movies. He’s a little old to make it as a pop or rock star. But he does have an appeal to adult women. Did David Foster say he’d work with him? His artists tend to have adult appeal and do well.
Maybe Michael can become part of David Foster’s posse, like Kat. She has sung at a lot of events with which he has been connected. She’s scheduled to sing at the Las Vegas event.

There are a few male singers in the pop rock genre in that age range and certainly hitting it big……….look at James Blunt - now I don’t get his appeal one iota but like he cares………to me he is neither cute nor sings good, more than one song would be like torture to me, grating nails on a chalkboard, but he’s got the record sales and fanbase.
And I think the bluesy soul/rock niche is wide open to be filled by the right person. Whereas say Justin Timberlake has the blue eyed soul with the street hip hop vibe a blueeyed soul with a rock vibe might just be the ticket to set him apart from what is out there in the market., esp if you are tired of hiphop, hell even Timbaland said hip hop is boringhim, if you are tired of all the Nickelback clones and you are tried of the wimpy James Blunt kind of music - you want something you can dance to and swoon to………some people compare him to Taylor Hicks, no way, nah, Hick’s version of soul was more of a Louisiana cajun spice that only appeals to a select audience, IMRO
while I think David Foster is knowledgable etc I think it has been a long time since he’s done anything in the rock genre, he may have a long long time ago in Canada in his youth and I think he had some successes, but I’d rather see MJ go with whoever is working with Daughtry, or something with the same king of thinking,
I am not sure if it is wise to concede to adult contemporary to start if you don’t have to

Juliet joins the other female hosts and many other women in being mad that Michael was booted off the show. He sounded really good and I enjoyed seeing him with the guitar. Maybe he should have done that on the show. Someone said that he’s more good looking in person and I can believe it. He looked pretty good on the Today Show earlier outside with the hosts (no, I wasn’t there sadly).
I agree that he’s more relaxed now. I first noticed it on the night he was kicked off during his boot song. I’m sure the stress of being on the show and worrying about your performance, the judges, and the audience voting must take it’s toll. Now that he’s gotten over the initial shock and I’m sure dismay, he can enjoy what’s happening.

He is 30 and looks closer to 35. That’s very old for Top 40 music. That female adult audience was going to buy 5 million copies of Taylor Hick’s album. That didn’t work out that well. Micheal Johns lacks the urban appeal of Justin Timberlake. Impossible to make it on Top 40 without it.

I can’t think of any in Top 40, maybe HAC, AC,. James Blunt had a couple of hit songs. Can Micheal Johns write hit songs? I honestly don’t see where Micheal Johns fits in on radio today but maybe David Foster can help him out. His artists do okay.
The music business is brutal these days. Johns will be lucky to get a deal from anyone. Obviously, if he’s a talented writer, his chances improve 100%.
If he has any acting talent, I’d pursue that career as well.
Actually Michael is 29, Jpfan. Chris Daughtry is only a yr younger. I think Michael is more likely to have a band like he’s always had and they seem to be fine in their late twenties and thirties. I think Michael’s sound will fit in on the radio today like a lot of popular bands.

Michael is so talented, I am actually looking forward to his post AI career much more now. He will definitely go places. I am so excited that the media has been backing him so much. He deserves it… He was gone way too soon.
My first post! Thanks MJ for a great site. Especially enjoying post Michael info. Wanted you guys to know you can buy his pre idol cd on itunes (it was dropped by the label in 2003 and I believe brought back when he got on idol) The band is The Rising, album is Future Unknown. Great, great album, will hold me over until his (hopefully) new cd comes out!
