What’s the scoop with this label? country? christian?

They are very new, most or all of their artists so far are doing Christian music I think. The most well-known is Press Play. Dream Records may not necessarily see themselves as limited to Christian music, however.

Michael is describing his music as country? From the one song I heard, it did have a Christian element in it, so maybe there is a crossover range he’s looking at that could leverage the abilities/experience of Dream Records and their partnership network.

Congrats to Michael!Wish him the best.

I am still sad though there’s no news about Matty G. His originals were pretty great the other day during his mini concert.

I just think Matt is so talented that he truly deserves a chance to record with a major label.

Maybe the problem right now is the genre he wants to go into, labels must be undecided on how to market him. I think he can do well so many styles though. That could also be the problem.

If Matt decided to go country he could be super successful IMO. I remember Top 11 night when Matt performed”So Small” how impressed Randy Travis was with him. I loved that performance it was magical.

Let’s hope Matty G doesn’t fade away in the future.
It would break my heart. I always thought he was going to be the next one signed after the Top 4 but I guess not. Sigh..

Sorry Michael’s thread, but now that the discussion has turned to Matt, I have to add a few things.

I know we are all anxious to find out what Matt is going to do, but he is writing some amazing new music (particularly #Imissyoutonight !!!) and I’m sure he’ll get it out there soon. By taking his time he has been able to make some connections with A-list country writers and producers, even though the music he is writing is definitely not country. I doubt this ever would have happened if he had been tied to a recording contract.

It may be true that Matt doesn’t fit nicely into a specific radio-friendly genre because his sound is truly unique. But I know he’ll have a long and successful career performing and writing music, even if he never becomes a major radio star.

Well, he’s extremely talented, in multiple ways.

So somebody in the music industry is surely going to want to hire him for *something*, seems to me. They recognize talent.

And then once he starts getting jobs in the big-time part of the industry, he can build connections and possibly get something bigger down the line or at least a good contract with a solid indie label and a touring gig. He’s at least on the radar screen now, and I can’t imagine that his talent will be allowed to go completely to waste.
