It means there are no words, Home is amazing.

    Tender, beautiful song….

  2. 652 Kat Jan 22nd, 2007 at 10:43 pm

I only heard Open Toes. It’s well produced…

Really? Because it sounds like the backing track is being done by a kid with a Krazy Kazoo. I’m being serious, not snarking for the sake of snark. If that’s what a $250K producer buys these days, I’m not impressed. Maybe the other stuff will be better. I’ll give it a listen and see.

  3. 653 Kat Jan 22nd, 2007 at 10:48 pm

Okay, “Neglected” is certainly not TERRIBLE, but it’s not great. Honestly I am really unimpressed by the producers here. This song’s backing sounds almost exactly the same as “Over It,” and she’s just…not displaying any vocal talent here. She’s kind of plodding in her lower range, and she’s whispery again on the high notes. XO, what songs does she really let loose on? What songs does she do where she proves that she was worthy of coming in 2nd place on Idol? There have to be SOME, right? No snark, just serious. Because it’s not this one, and it’s not the three we already have. It’s not even “Love Story.” The bridge here is not bad, but it’s…bland, empty. I guess it’s possible I just don’t like her voice (it always did leave me cold, even before I started disliking her personality).

Where are you hearing the other songs? I only saw the link to Open Toes. The other links don’t work.

  5. 655 Kat Jan 22nd, 2007 at 10:54 pm

Highlight and copy the link and paste it into your browser; it’ll work.

  6. 656 Kat Jan 22nd, 2007 at 10:56 pm

Okay, “Not Ur Girl”–eh. Not an awful song, but again, kind of unremarkable. Tempo’s a little slow. I know, everyone’s a critic, right? :-) More shouty melisma from her, blah. I guess the chief complaint I have with this song (and with all the songs I’ve heard so far) is that they could pretty much be ANYONE singing them. And I am REALLY unimpressed with the production on all of these. XO, I hope the ballads are better!

  7. 657 madaboutu Jan 22nd, 2007 at 10:57 pm

If you all want to hear a real treasure of a song, go to J Records and listen to JTFTW and then another song comes on after it by a group I guess named Say Anything. If that is what kids are listening to, then no wonder my kids all complain about the young people they hire. I don’t know what genius wrote the lyrics. :jittery_tb:

Not sure if anyone is interested but things appear to be changing at Elliott’s myspace. I really like the pic that’s there now. Kind of odd
that he has the AI CD cover there…

  9. 659 juliegr Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:08 pm

Hey Lu — didn’t Elliott promise an announcement on Tuesday?

    ~~

  10. 660 cateye Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:18 pm

Miss Tara, you still around? Guess you’ll be cheering for Rafa now since James Blake is gone!!!

I’m not sure who to support now…..I don’t like Roddick…guess I’ll have to go with Nadal too!!! :thumbup_tb:

  11. 661 SpenserJ Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:22 pm

Hey everybody! It’s been a busy week for me - sorry I wasn’t around much. But, I had to pop in to say that I’m happy XO is that much closer to a Kat cd - her loyalty should be rewarded.

    And, PJ - GO BEARS!!!!

  12. 662 cateye Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:22 pm

In a previous post, I mentioned the Soul Patrol vs Taylor Music fans since I’m in the 2nd group…..

After reading posts on other blogs and websites…..after seeing pics of SP’ers at concerts in bedazzled shirts, after being at the AI concert and hearing people talk about Taylor like they were “like this” with him and his brother, and LIMBO, etc, I decided I was sooooooooo not like that group…..hence, I’m a Taylor Music fan…..

*disclaimer* not that there’s anything wrong with being an SPer…… :wallbash_tb:

  13. 663 SpenserJ Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:25 pm

Cateye - I sat next to one of those girls in a bedazzled tank top at the AI concert. Yep, I’m definitely a Taylor Music fan too.

  14. 664 cateye Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:26 pm

    Thanks SpenserJ for posting….I thought I was a 14-page thread-killer! :innocent1_tb:

  15. 665 SpenserJ Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:28 pm

Cateye, I thought maybe I just really knew how to clear a room :biggrin_wp:

  16. 666 cateye Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:29 pm

Ummm, ok….I think it was you since you mentioned Kat! hahahahahahaha

I’m on West Coast time, so it’s early for me……

  17. 667 SpenserJ Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:31 pm

See, that’s what happens to me every time I try to be nice!

I’m on east coast time, but I’m in the middle of a large laundry session - so I’ll be up for a while.

  18. 668 cateye Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:34 pm

Have you watched the auditions for AI6?

I guess I’m in the minority cuz I didn’t think that the young kid Sanjay was that great….in Seattle…

Didn’t see the first night of auditions……I have it Tivo’d …. see if anyone grabs me like Taylor did….

  19. 669 SpenserJ Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:38 pm

I haven’t been impressed that much either. I watched both nights. Sanjay can sing, no doubt, but he does nothing for me on an “audience grabbing” type level.

I liked that Thomas guy - who previously pumped gas. But, we only heard him sing for like 20 seconds - so he could suck and we don’t know it yet.

Nothing even remotely close to “I was born by the river…….”

    R

AY CHARLES is now reporting an OFFICIAL RADIO IMPACT DATE FOR JUST TO FEEL THAT WAY….Here’s what he says in one sentence :

Official “Impact Date” for radio set to February 5th

    Of 2007 or 2008?

Pffftttt. I hope Taylor aint payin’ these morons.

dingo. ha, ha. you crack me up.
Trust me this is GOOD news. They will be pushing Taylor’s CD the right way, these two weeks will help him get his single to all the stations then the requests begin. I have a good feeling about this.
I think there is a video on the works too. Can’t wait to see Taylor with a white shirt and as Ana should say GELLED! That will be HOT!
I think Taylor’s team are not throwing the towel, they are going to work overtime now to get things done for him.

  21. 671 JustSomeGuy Jan 22nd, 2007 at 11:48 pm

Open Toes is quirky enough, I think it would really stand out in today’s Top 40 radio.

And thanks to whoever posted the link, just heard Not Ur Girl for the first time and that is a very good song.

What will *** call her tour ? Perhaps ” Beaver Unleashed ” or ” Airing It Out ” . A few suggestions for *** : 1. Keep your feet on the floor.
    2. Keep the knees together. 3. Keep the finger out of the throat. 4.Let the air out of the Mc Boobs and if anyone asks a question just nod. :sealed_tb:

  25. 675 JustSomeGuy Jan 23rd, 2007 at 12:43 am

Oh, there is going to be a tour…

Most of the naysayers here didn’t think Kat would even put out an album.
But it appears that she has and thanks Vegasdee for putting up the links. Although I feel like a heretic listening to the new Kat tunes on this site.

Ordinary World and Home do bring Kat’s vocals more to the forefront, and I for one, am pleasnatly surprised with the quality of the music on this CD.

Somebody has decided to invest the money in Kat because her talent, which at times does show through the production on these songs.

Whenever I see “SNARK” on my Kat..I just remind myself that it is just the letters rearranged…”RANKS”…which she does as number one on my list of idols!….thats all folks, goodnight!

    *******

Ray, here are some other meanings of “RANK” as per dictionary.com:

having an offensively strong smell or taste: a rank cigar.

offensively strong, as a smell or taste.

utter; absolute: a rank amateur; rank treachery.

highly offensive; disgusting: a rank sight of carnage.

grossly coarse, vulgar, or indecent: rank language.

    inferior; contemptible.

I just listened to Open Toes. I cannot believe that this is the same vocalist that I listened to during the Birmingham concert tour. Her rendition of Over the Rainbow was exceptional and brought me to tears. It must be about appealing to the younger crowd and selling CDs. Open Toes brought me to tears as well but for a totally different reason. In the words of Paula and Randy she is better than this song.

  28. 678 Boulder Soul Jan 23rd, 2007 at 1:45 am

So , I see that McBeaver fans are happy since some of the dreck, some call them songs, have been leaked. Dreadful stuff.

  29. 679 B Jan 23rd, 2007 at 2:05 am

i think Kat’s album has some really, really solid material on it. you can’t ask for much more on a debut album. is every song perfect? no. but none of it’s “give me tonight” either…which is a very good thing in my opinion. i think people who like contemporary r&b and pop will be able to get into the album. and her vocals are very rich on some of the ballads…especially “Better Off Alone”…

  30. 680 soamused Jan 23rd, 2007 at 2:12 am

Oh, I think “Open Toes” makes “Give Me Tonight” sound absolutely brilliant. How I wish that “Toes” were the single!

  31. 681 Boulder Soul Jan 23rd, 2007 at 2:22 am

McBeaver is about as urban as Ellie Mae Clampett from the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. Dreck.

Kat: “I’m intrigued that someone with a name
like “Factman” would trade in rumors.”

Well, WishfulThinkingMan lacks a certain panache…

I’m very late to the blog today, but could not let that brilliant one go by without mention…prime Nevada. Heh.

Can the Taylor fans HONESTLY say that his album is so wonderful, that it proves he was worthy of winning the whole thing last year?

I mean HONESTLY- he doesn’t have any overproduced shleck on his album?

Unless my ears deceived me with what I personally heard and my eyes deceieved me remembering what was written here by some of you- he did.

It happens on all AI albums. And I think Home, Better Off Alone, and Ordinary World sound very, very much like Katharine. She could not however, release an album of 12 ballads- that is not realistic.

And her mid-tempo and upbeat songs are very radio friendly. The fact that “Over It” is among the weakest tracks and it is on the verge of Top 40 gives me confidence.

  35. 685 MaryS-NJ Jan 23rd, 2007 at 7:10 am

I mean HONESTLY- he doesn’t have any overproduced shleck on his album?

In my opinion? Yes, there are a couple songs I think are sleck and a few more that I think are decent but over-produced. I can listen to all of them except the couple sleck songs. That’s 11 out of 13 so not too bad. Most of the songs I really enjoy.

Sanjay can sing, no doubt, but he does nothing for me on an “audience grabbing” type level.

Sanjay is this year’s Kedavill Couradmakar.
