steaminginbama………the fact that you don’t know what a claymate is only serves to show that obscurity is in the eye of the beholder. See above post by Right Said for explanation.
    MJ…….alright. You’re the boss.

Listened to Elliott’s song “Trainwreck” on Derek Bramble’s myspace. It’s very good. As for the Oprah show for Taylor, it would give his CD a huge boost. Just about everything she promotes sells like crazy. She probably would give everyone in the audience a copy. It would just be a great boost for him.

GC has questions & answers from Taylor…

Summer tour, work on new album in fall, UTR & IYT will be sold nationally…

There are people out there who actually hate Taylor Hicks because Chris didn’t win . I experienced this nastiness myself when Taylors cd was first released. I was at the local mall and decided to pick up the cd. I went to a store that I will call “sam baddies’ and searched for the cd. I could’t find it and asked the clerk if they had it. He told me that they didn’t have it and if he had anything to say about it the store would never carry it. He told me that he hated Taylor Hicks and that Chris should have won. When I got home I e-mailed the company and told them of my experience and gave them the clerks name that I had remembered from his name tag. This is what Taylor is up against. It’s the same with radio around here. I called our local ac station(clear channel) and requested JTFTW and was thanked for listening but never have heard the song played.People are petty and mean. Mr. Hicks has a hard row to hoe. :sad_tb:

Meant to say - ditto to crossing fingers for the Oprah appearance! Now there’s some sales spike potential.

I seem to recall Gray had Oprah on the list waaay back when he first posted the list of upcoming appearances. We wondered at the time, I think, if it would tie in with Taylor’s book release?

OMG Elliott’s “Train Wreck” I need this song on MP3. I literally cannot wait for this CD. Like, seriously, I refuse to wait. I’m like Veruca Salt right now and throwing a little fit in my living room. I love his voice so much.

I’m the only chatter in gabbly. Problems, I think. RSF was there briefly.

  10. 360 Tracy Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:22 pm

pj, I had problems getting into the chat.

And there’s another new Elliott song?! Must go listen!

  11. 361 jpfan Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:22 pm

Train Wreck is the song the Cd needs. It’s really hot and not boy band like a couple of the others. I think this song will sell the Cd.

  12. 362 dcd74 Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:24 pm

PJ-I am having trouble staying in chat too. Gabbly is usually good to me :P

    “Movin On” I LOVE
    “Wait For You” I LOVE
“You Are the One” I LOVE
    “Trainwreck” I LOVE

Best male voice in AI confirmed :cool1_tb:

  14. 364 pj Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:26 pm

Tracy, the E acoustic tune is good. I hope you like it.

I’m sadly alone in chat. Sniff sniff. I had issues. Went away for a 20 minutes and got back in.

There are alwasy going to be weird fans who hate other contestants. It happens to all of them. I don’t think that’s the norm, though.

  15. 365 AFan Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:28 pm

    Tony, I second that.
that part in train wreck where he starts singing “but you know i just can’t help wanting you around” is seriously killing me. i’m feeling awfully fanboyish right now and nothing can stop me. i’m feeling as passionate as dingo. i’m scaring myself.

  17. 367 sammy Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:31 pm

I think “Trainwreck” is his best one so far.

  18. 368 Tracy Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:39 pm

I listened to You Are The One and it’s beautiful. I found a download of Trainwreck and I’m downloading it right now. Is You Are The One going to be one of the bonus tracks?

  19. 369 jpfan Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:43 pm

It’s going to be tough to listen to Train Wreck and go to sleep.

  20. 370 Tracy Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:46 pm

I just finished listening to Trainwreck and I’m LOVING it. My only complaint is that it’s too short. lol

  21. 371 madaboutu Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

AFan……….for the first time ever you made me really laugh out loud……in a good way. And now darnit, I like you.

  22. 372 lili Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:50 pm

Tracy, where did you find the downloadable version of Train Wreck? I can’t seem to find it…..

  23. 373 Lara Mar 5th, 2007 at 11:52 pm

Tracy - where did you find a download of “Train Wreck”? I’ve just listened to the streaming version on Derek’s myspace, but haven’t seen any downlaods. I love the song. I agree that Dingo would love Train Wreck, as well as “You are the One”.

  24. 374 griz Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:01 am

Taylor’s said on his q&a on GC that he will start a new album in the fall and doing more fairs this summer, more shows - putting a cluster together.

    Woooo!

  25. 375 madaboutu Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:12 am

griz………are you going to the Wiltern too? I have agonized over it, since it is a great venue and anything might happen there. Also, it is only a few miles from me, and there could be some special people come up on stage……. But my sis says we should just go to Pala and be more relaxed. Not sure she is right about the relaxed, but guess I will go with the flow and skip the Wiltern.

  26. 376 cochem Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:13 am

    griz,

Just like the song…I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! He’ll still be the talk of the media 6mos from now…

    madaboutu,

If you can afford it I would go to both shows…this time around it is special…I am going to 4 shows…

  27. 377 madaboutu Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:30 am

cochem……….I can afford two shows, and like I say, the Wiltern is so close. It is a matter of my being able to physically stand for two shows. I have back problems, and the shows are close together timewise. I know that even with seats there will be alot of standing. I will probably just make a snap decision on the 10th.

  28. 378 Tracy Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:41 am

I found it at another board I go to. I think someone ripped it from the myspace. I would post it, but I know MJ doesn’t allow illegal file sharing here.

  29. 379 griz Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:41 am

Mad - I prolly won’t be at the Wiltern - I’ve already spent $125 on 2 tickets to the SD show plus I’ll spend $25 for the IYT CD and prolly a t-shirt.

I’m psyched about Taylor recording next fall! Can’t wait to see what he comes up with on the new album - hopefully more acoustic “grit” this time around - and maybe a redo of The Fall? One can only hope on that one! ;)

  30. 380 madaboutu Mar 6th, 2007 at 12:48 am

griz………you are right. I will probably be buying things too and that will add up. I have to be realistic about my capabilities too, and I have a bunch of travelling to do this summer. I can’t wait for another album too, and I am excited about a remake of The Fall, and also Somehow.

    RE: CLEAR CHANNEL

    That names says it all.

Radio stations make up their play list in advance. Some look at the ‘adds’ but some don’t. Clear Channel is the station that sort of “tells” the audience what it wants you to hear, hence you keep hearing the same 10 songs played over and over day after day. The song, JTFTW is out there but only a few ( mostly non-Clear Channel types ) actually play it.

Also, Clear Channel PD’s tend to stick to what’s mainstream, to what is easily pigeon-holed, the tried and true. Taylor’s music doesn’t fit in easily right now in most radio formats.

Ironically, that’s one of the main reasons why he won, by being different, not easily labelled and standing out.

The same trait that made him win is also the same trait that makes corporate radio resistant to adding him.

  32. 382 madaboutu Mar 6th, 2007 at 1:58 am

LBB………….Clear Channel owns a ton of stations. It owns KOST here in L.A. and also KEARTH I think and maybe KIIS. KOST is the one that played DIMYP alot, so I thought they would play anything Taylor put out. They have never played Kat at all, of course not Daughtry, but might play Elliott. They even play some country like Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw, but I haven’t heard Carrie. They had JTFTW on rotation last week, but late night and early morning tho I never heard it. Clear Channel owns the venue that Taylor is coming to in L.A., so I am hoping he will get some coverage. Actually, I have been sampling some stations lately and almost all of Taylors songs would fit somewhere. Don’t know if they would be hits, but they would fit.
