I’m gonna make a bold prediction that No Air will tie Since U Been Gone (which peaked at #2 on the Hot 100) as the highest peaking single from an AI contestant, not counting those cruddy first singles that are released right after the show ends.
I’ll take that bet. How high did It’s Not Over and Before He Cheats go? The Hot 100 keeps changing their formula - sometimes radio play/sometimes dls. Plus longevity counts for something too.
No Air will be big but it gets boring fast. It will not be a bigger song that SUBG or the two I mentioned.
I’ve got to agree with jpfan on this one. Since Pauler’s single is stalling, maybe Randy should release something else from his cd. I have a suggestion.. Randy - call me.
Is it No Air ft. Chris Brown or No Air ft. Jordin Sparks? LOL. I’m having a hard time telling their voices apart.
“It’s Not Over” went to Number 4 on the Hot 100. “Before He Cheats” went to Number 8.
To achieve Number 1 on the Hot 100, you usually need really good download numbers and airplay during the same week. That’s why some labels supress sales for a single (they remove it from iTunes or don’t release iTunes if it is from a new album) until it’s achieved high enough airplay numbers. You can sometimes achieve Number 1 with just good sales numbers (that’s how those “cruddy” first singles do it).
The other new factor in Hot 100 positions are “Play on Demand” statistics. They count for 5% of the score.
I think that one of the things that might hurt “No Air”’s chances is that Chris Brown already has one hit on the charts (”With You” at number 2 on Pop which added 909 spins this week…at this rate, it will be number 1 next week). There may be a limit to how many songs from one person they will spin non-stop. His old hit “Kiss Kiss” is still at number 16.
Is it me, or does “With You” sound almost IDENTICAL to Elliott’s “One Word”? I know they were produced by the same team, but jeez.
LOL. It’s a shock that the pop charts are filled with songs that sound the same? Call the press!
Stargate gets that complaint a LOT, but they keep rolling out the hits. They also did Jordin’s “Tattoo”
