Just new to you. It’s been happening for years. I even used to include it in the Mediabase reports (because we used to be able to see every single spin they monitored).

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just curious because it seems so odd to me for a dj to just randomly throw an AI contestantà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s performance into their radio show.

Frogcooke is right. If they play a long enough clip, it counts as a spin. But, sometimes AI contestant’s performances do have a longer shelf life. For the long months when Elliott’s deal was “super-secret” (wasn’t it announced in February during Season 6?), some of his AI performance songs (they only made one studio version available so most of these were songs ripped from the show) were played a couple times every week on the radio (I believe it was one of his local stations that did it). So, sometimes they will just play an AI contestant’s performance on the radio.

I have a question about this….. On wednesday mornings, our local dj’s always do a little recap of AI and sometimes they’ll play a clip of a song or two (some long clips, some really short). Could that be what these spins are? Or, are dj’s actually playing the whole song in the middle of a set list with no explanation?

I’m just curious because it seems so odd to me for a dj to just randomly throw an AI contestant’s performance into their radio show.

This, I know. No one seriously is comparing Adam’s spins to actually produced and released singles, for goodness sakes. At least I’m not. Compared to his fellow contestants, but more importantly for me, his own spins from previous weeks, I’m excited for him. If I’m not mistaken, these are his first Top 40 spins. And, we’re talking AI chit — and yes, that’s how I view it. (Personally, I have to admit, I sort of hope never to hear AI chit on the radio, so being excited for the performer concerning spins, I guess, makes me a hypocrite!) LOL So, oddly enough, I think we’re on the same page.

So, for many radio stations, Adam Lambert equals the whole show? And, Danny, Lil, Scott, Megan and Michael weren’t even there? Cool. ;-P

(Not Kirsten) but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m pretty sure NOW album sales have nothing to do w/Crush or LO sales. NOW is ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s own thing.

Yep. Cookie and Archie will get paid a small royalty for each NOW record sold (which will be subject to recoupment), but the SS numbers for Crush and LO will not be increased.

I wouldn’t get too excited about Adam getting a few spins. Radio stations recap the show and he probably gets the most buzz though.

Hopefully Idol Chatter will have info on Melinda’s sales. But the days of getting sales numbers for albums off the BB200 are over.
