Elliott’s single WFY is fun to watch. He dropped from 4 to 5 last week and now he’s back to 4. Not too shabby!

Daughtry’s “Crashed” is being officially released to rock radio today but it’s already getting some spins. The song is being used as an intro to televised SEC/ACC college football games every Saturday (sponsored by Lincoln Financial) and is also featured in a Bionicle commercial.

Still patiently waiting for the “Over You” video….

Thanks, Kirsten. It’s great that Elliott regained his 4th place on Top 40. He had been at #4 for so long, it seemed strange to see him at #5 last week.

I wonder if the radio stations are just picking random Ruben songs to play. I need to buy “If Only For One Night”. I loved Luther Vandross’ version of the song.

Also, worth buying the original version of “If Only for One Night” by its composer, the great Brenda Russell. She also wrote and sang “Piano in the Dark,” and another wonderful underground R&B hit, “So Good, So Right.”

Keep an eye on Jordin’s single Tattoo. Hit Predictor which influences radio pegged it as a hit. On the other hand, I don’t think her fan base is very large. It’s a decent song and if it doesn’t make Top 20, that’s a bad sign for her album. It won’t bode well for Blake either. E’s song WFY is a phenom that reversed its loss of spins this week.

How will Jordin’s song affect Blake? LOL. That makes no sense whatsoever. It’s about HIS music and whether it catches on, regardless of what hers does.

I think (JMO) that Season 6 has a buzz problem. As in, it has none. Jordin’s (hopeful) hit single should create some buzz for her and Blake. If Blake puts out a great single that will excite people and they’ll run out and buy his album. But usually first week album sales reflect the fan base and Season 6 is sort of a distant memory already. After that, Blake like every other Idol needs to make new fans to be a hit.

Not sure I agree. Lots of buzz last year, but it didn’t help the singles of the top two.

I don’t remember much buzz about Carrie U after season four, but look how well she’s done.

    Yay for Elliott!

Taylor and Kat had pretty good opening weeks. Then they slid off the charts quickly. I’d forgotten about Carrie completely but I think she had a decent opening week as well. I’m sure Nevada has the numbers. I think based on shipments they’re expecting Jordin to sell about 250K or so.

I like Jordin’s single but I think radio has ODed on idols with Carrie, Chris, Elliott, etc. We’ll see.

Here are Carrie’s sales for the first six weeks of “Some Hearts”:

    Week 01: 315,228
    Week 02: 186,836
    Week 03: 154,110
    Week 04: 174,035
    Week 05: 271,245
    Week 06: 400,625
    1,502,079

Wow, what happened in Week 6? Any special promo?

  12. 12 jdanton2 Sep 11th, 2007 at 4:30 am

According to Hits Daily Double Jordin’s song Tattoo is set for an official impact date of September 24th .that means the label will start pushing it to more stations . it would make sense since the tour will be over on September 23rd and Jordin will have more time to promote it . also the video and itune release will probably happen around that time.

    I give up…..
Elliot is not in the same league as Carrie U or Daughtry eventhough his cd single is played as much..in terms of sales as are most artists this year………..

I am od how great so and so and how bad they are compared to so and so, Now Elliot is being used(which I find is sad) come on he did not skyrocket to platnum. Compare them to jt or having a tour like the rolling stones or even the dogs cd ..

It just seems ridiculous just move on and be happy with the old artist to the new ones.

  14. 14 Lu Sep 11th, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Elliott may not be in the same league sales wise but he is only the third person from AI to crack the top 5 in top 40 radio according to the djs on the top 40 show I heard Saturday. The other two were Kelly Clarkson and Daughtry.

  15. 15 poporange Sep 11th, 2007 at 12:43 pm

Sorry LU should not of stated first paragraph was badly worded.

I should of stated Daughtry and Carrie u are doing amazing terms of physical cd sales. Yes Elliot is doing well and others are doing good also but the latter two seem to overshadow the rest.I have a bad case o keyboard in mouth disease. Please forgive the case of stupidity putting shovel away now.(carp need more than 15 minutes to profread and correct)

Thanks for sharing, Lu. I love seeing my 2 fave guys do so well post-AI.
