Just shoot me.
I must admit, any time I hear an Idol on the radio or see a video on TV, I get a little misty. Its like I have watched them grow up, I “knew” them when they were just sproutin’ their wings and damn, Im so proud I could crow. I see E and I jump off the couch and say HEY!! I saw him lick his girlfriends arm!! Thats my boy!
Whatever happened to “HEAVEN KNOWS” ?
This Christmas made a nice jump on the AC chart from 232 to 47. That’s the same version that Elliott released last year on iTunes. The one that some people thought sounded like it cost $5 to produce. Around this time last year, Elliott dropped out of the Disney Xmas Parade which I think was another supposed harbinger of doom. Kat has the same gig this year.
LMAO
I do miss you, dingo! *jumps off the couch and waves frantically*
Hey Purple! Hope all is well. Im so looking forward to this season of Idol. For some reason Im looking forward to it more than I did last season. Thats strange to me. I think that my expectations were ridiculously high for last season and when (IMHO) it didnt even come close, I became (high drama here)…despondent.
This year my expectations are quite low and so Im bound to be smitten with someone’s voice. Im looking for that one voice who makes me sit up and pay attention. Clay did it and Taylor did it. Not to say that the others werent good cause they were but for ME, those two made me pay attention. I also liked Sligh and then I dont know what the hell happened.
All is well here, dingo. Thank you very much! :)
E has five Christmas songs (I don’t necessarily like them all, but hey!) on the charts, so I can’t complain. (That’s to keep on topic. LOL) ;)
Dingo, What about Sanjaya?:)
OMG, I love Sanj. He gave me more laughs this season. I stopped watching after he left but I dont think I will ever forget him doing “You Really Got Me”. Bwahahahahaha!
Its interesting to note that for me personally, it never really comes down to who has the perfect voice because I seem to be drawn to less than perfect tones. There is a particular voice that appeals to me and so even though I understood that Melinda and Jordin for example has ridiculously perfect tone, they just didnt light my fore with their voice. I didnt feel anything other than their perfection. Thats not what Im looking for but Im only one person. There has to be something that draws me in, a voice that can capture the emotion the song is supposed to make me feel .
Interesting to hear from someone who likes “pitchier” voices.
Looks like E is not going to have a big hit with One Word as it falls down the chart.
I think dingo and I have similar taste in vocal stylings (although I did love Melinda when she got down n’ dirty). I don’t think it’s a factor of being “pitchy”; I like a gritter, rougher, more passionate voice more than I like a smooth belcanto one. Just a preference :)
Good for E for moving’ up the charts with “This Christmas!” I’ll have to check it out later :)
With all of the incredible Clay Christmas music available, you would think that at least one of them would be getting some airplay.
Oh well, Clay and radio air play just never hit it off…
“With all of the incredible Clay Christmas music available”
t2, I was thinking of buying some more Christmas music and want to get something by Clay. Which of his Christmas CDs would you recommend?
Hard to pick when it comes to Clay and Christmas. If you can get a copy of All Is Well (4 songs on a mini-CD), I’d start with that. It was a Wal-Mart exclusive last year and they didn’t release enough copies last year, but I hear it’s readily available through Amazon? this year. Any way, the song All is Well is tremendous.
Clay’s other Christmas CD has Don’t Save It All for Christmas Day on it (this is “Clay’s song” IMO) and Mary Did you Know (again, beautiful and perfect.)
And yep, I have a “thing” for Clay and Christmas. Can’t help it.
Yeah, start with Mary Did You Know. Beautifully sung.
“I also liked Sligh and then I dont know what the hell happened.” Me too
Clay’s EP will be on sale Tomorrow on I-Tunes. 3 out of the 4 songs are stellar. (Christmas Waltz is a little too light hearted to be in sync with the others, but that’s just MHO.
t2, thanks for the suggestions!
Hmmm.. One Word is done already? Didn’t crack top 40? Anyone know what the next single is, if there is going to be a new single after all..
I hope One Word is not dead yet. It’s not my favorite song on the album, but it still sounds pretty good on the radio (and awesome live!). For a third (or fourth, if there is one) single, though, I hope Train Wreck gets released. I doubt, however, that it will be a radio hit, either.
Elliott’s Christmas CD is not available in the Philippines, but my fellow E fans here gave a copy to two DJs of a popular local radio station who are E-music fans (not “rabid,” though…lol), too, and since then, we’ve been hearing Let’s Be Naughty on their station all the time (This Christmas and Jingle Bells at times, too) - even during the other DJs’ shifts.
Re: Sanjaya, where is he now? Other than at rickey’s…heh. ;)
Clay currently has 13 Christmas songs getting radio spins. I don’t know why they aren’t showing up on Mediabase. Maybe they are considered recurrents now but he’s getting lots of play. See the chart below.
Link didn’t work. I’ll try again.
Christmas Spins
One Word has lost the bullet but I’m not sure it done yet. I think they’ll be a third single but nothing else on the album screams Top 40. So I think they should release Movin On to HAC/AC and try for a more adult audience.
The Grammy nominations come out this week and E has a very outside shot at one.
