Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Dec 13-20

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere we go…including the AI Monday Morning Mediabase Chart. There are 3 new Christmas Idol songs making the chart bringing the total up to 5. Joining Christmas songs already on the charts by David A and Mandisa are Katharine, Carrie and Kellie.

Meanwhile, the original Kelly continues to rule the HAC chart for the 6th week and still maintains her bullet. Those Fireflies are persisently hovering, though. Get out your bug zapper Kelly! Also on HAC, Daughtry reaches a milestone by going top 15 while Adam on Pop gets his first top 40 airplay hit. Daughtry’s “No Surprise” from “Leave This Town” shows no intention of leaving the AC chart as it is still in the top 5 on that chart.

A note on the country chart: It’s whacked this morning. On All Access, it’s all out of order and seems pretty fishy. So, I used the actual Mediabase chart for the top 40 and the AllAccess chart for the below 40. Carrie is the biggest gainer in spins on the Country chart. Get that smash Carrie!

And finally, SuBo. The phenom from the UK has been ruling the Album charts inexplicably for weeks, but now she has a top 10 song to add to her trophy case. Her version of “Silent Night” reached the number 10 slot on AC.

Here are your Monday Morning Mediabase Updates for airplay as of midnight of 12/20/09 after the jump.

Please Note: These numbers are actually the Sunday night report because I had to run early. There is no bias intended. Sometimes, I just have a life. Although, I am thinking of switching to Sunday night numbers since that is the chart from which official peaks are taken.

Mediabase top 50 in major formats only. Some charts may have less than 50 ranked songs if the number of spins do not reach a certain cut-off.

Just my impression that the VMA thing seemed to propel her to a whole new, crazy level of success (as in, lots of non-country people knew her and were rooting for her, plus all the awards she won after).

Oh, Taylor was very well known before the VMA’s and has been for about a year or so (even internationally). I have seen her on several awards shows. I especially remember her doing some performance where she was dressed in a hooded jacket and just played with her guitar. I’d say that was more her breakout performance than the VMA.

S6 was considered the worst season of Idol and Jordin was supposedly going to be a huge flop. She surprised everyone when she held on after meh sales and went platinum based on huge Pop hits. That’s the Jordin model (so to speak).

I think both Kris and Adam have the potential to sell like Jordin as Top 40 is accepting their music. But the more sales before Xmas the better, so this week is very important as well.

Am happy Adam’s album is doing so well. And Kris LLWD is also going well still. I just wish Kris’s album was doing better. It’s really a good album.

Just checked iTunes and Kris’s album is #24 on pop while Adam’s is #20.

Strange I see Adam at #12 & 21 and Kris at #26. Which makes more sense considering HDD.

girlygirl thanks for posting the ‘general’ albums rankings from itunes. I put more weight in these & they tend to be more interesting… however I don’t usually ‘pull’ numbers, but did take a look for the pop albums since the numbers looked a little off.
