Hey! Great to see George Huff getting some airplay. I always liked his sound, and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. But - country?

  2. 2 Kirsten May 28th, 2007 at 12:57 pm

Oops. I was tired this morning. George Huff’s airplay is for Gospel. I had just finished the country charts, when I started on Gospel, so my brain was on auto-pilot. Sorry. I’ve fixed it now.

Kat’s current single is at the end of its run. Her second single goes for adds tomorrow.

  6. 6 xoxoyc May 28th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

Allen: Her second single won’t do anything. The fact that it got no early adds is not a good sign.

  7. 7 Nanny Mcphee May 28th, 2007 at 5:42 pm

Well I have been watching YES, and I’ve seen “Love Story” being played on 9 or 10 different stations, and the fact that her original single “Over it” is still being played several times a day indicates that Kat is still doing fine

Plus she’s about to release her current album in London and Australia.

  8. 8 Allen May 28th, 2007 at 5:48 pm

I didn’t say anything about it doing badly. :) I was just saying that Over It is at the end of its cycle so yeah it is dropping (and apparently has been moved to the recurrents for top 40 since it is still getting spins there but doesn’t show up anymore on the regular chart). I certainly hope Love Story does well. I would have liked to see a little more activity before the add date but I don’t think that means it is doomed, we will just have to wait and see. I am very interested to see the initial add list tomorrow

  9. 9 Kat May 28th, 2007 at 5:52 pm

(small voice)I like Love Story…if I were a Kat fan, though, I’d probably wish that her voice were more distinctive on it. But whatever, I think it’s a fun song. I still haven’t downloaded it, yet. I’m still researching the Jellus H8ter Code to see if that’s allowed. :-)

When does Heaven Knows go for adds? It seems to be doing pretty decently for a song that hasn’t been released yet.

  10. 10 Allen May 28th, 2007 at 6:06 pm

Heaven Knows also goes for adds tomorrow I believe.

  11. 11 Kat May 28th, 2007 at 6:12 pm

    Thanks, Allen.

  12. 12 Lu May 28th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

What do you mean when you say “goes for adds”? Just wondering…

  13. 13 pj May 28th, 2007 at 6:34 pm

I don’t know what it means, Lu. I hope these songs can break something other than AC. That’s the most boring format evah and I can’t listen to it. Hot AC is better, so if any of them can break into that, I would think that’s a good sign…

  14. 14 Lu May 28th, 2007 at 6:46 pm

I agree - regular AC is borrrring! I’d never heard that “gone for adds” terminology before. Hopefully Kat, Allen or Xo can enlighten us PJ!

  15. 15 sammy May 28th, 2007 at 6:55 pm

Kat’s “Over It” took a big nose-dive from 70 to 228 AC. Seems like it was not long ago that I was hearing it a lot on Top 40. Who pulled the plug? Hope her new single does well.

“Gone for adds”….adding stations that play the song?

  16. 16 Nanny Mcphee May 28th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

Kat’s song took a nose-dive, because they officially pulled it as being her main single, they are starting over now with “Love Story”.

“Over it, however is still being played daily and in some cities it’s still in the top 10.

Going for adds, simply means that radio stations will be adding the song to their station on that date. It’s up to each individual station to decide if they want to add it or not.

  17. 17 griz May 28th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

When does Heaven Knows go for adds? It seems to be doing pretty decently for a song that hasn’t been released yet.

It officially impacts radio tomorrow. It already has 12 stations that have played the song and 6 official Format Starters. Hopefully this single will take off on more than the AC Charts - it’s a great pop tune, imo and has a place on both the Top 40 and HAC charts as well.

  18. 18 Allen May 28th, 2007 at 7:54 pm

My understanding is going for adds is when the record company asks for radio stations to add the single to their rotation. It is a little like the release date except the actual song is often already available to the radio stations before then and sometimes in that case stations will play a song before the add date. But the add date is when it is supposed to kick off. I think the idea may be that with a specific date more radio stations will start playing it at the same time so it has a more concentrated push on the charts at the start of the single.

UGH. LEAVE THE CHEERLEADING TO YOUR FANSITES. THIS IS NOT A FANSITE. I have edited where necessary. Read the guidelines if you are confused.

Wow, I’m out of the loop when it comes to this….I just don’t know what all these numbers mean!!!!

  21. 21 t2 May 28th, 2007 at 10:43 pm

Has anyone heard any of the other songs on Kelly’s album?

  22. 22 Kirsten May 29th, 2007 at 12:23 am

Wow, I’m out of the loop when it comes to this….I just don’t know what all these numbers mean!!!!

They are just positions on the radio airplay charts (the numbers in brackets are the positions the previous week…so if the numbers are going up, that’s a good thing). Radio stations are classified into formats (Top 40, Urban Adult Contemporary, Country, etc)

Let’s use an example of one of Elliott’s songs:

    “Wait For You”: 21 Pop (25), 39 AC (39), 51 HAC (52), 90 Rhy (125), 371 Urban (391)

This song is 21 on the Top 40 chart, 39 on the Adult Contemporary chart, 51 on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart (what’s the difference? HAC is a bit more hip), 90 on the Rhythmic chart, and 371 on the Urban chart. On every chart, his song is at least as good as or better than last week (ie getting more airplay).

Chart positions are based on how frequently the song is played. If there is a tie (e.g. two songs have been played 271 times), the number of listeners is used to break the tie.

  23. 23 Lu May 29th, 2007 at 8:19 am

Thanks for the link to the charts! Checked out Elliott this morning and he’s up to #18 on top 40. Cool.

  24. 24 AlwaysElliott May 29th, 2007 at 10:28 am

    Thanks, Kirsten! :)
