More Allison Iraheta! Yahoo Music Interview Pt 2, “Friday I’ll Be Over U” Video Behind the Scenes

Watch Part 2 of the Yahoo Music interview with Allison Iraheta, after the jump!   (Watch Part 1 Here).   Allison continues her track-by-track discussion of her upcoming album, Just Like You with Lyndsey Parker.   A few highlights:

  • Allison says Jive listened to her. She didn’t sing anything she felt wasn’t right for her.
  • For instance, when she first heard “Don’t Waste the Pretty” she didn’t like it, but then she took it to producer Howard Benson, and he “did his magic.”
  • She’s really happy with the album, and so is the label.
  • She likes singing angry, “In your face” songs.
  • There’s an unnamed guy at the receiving end of her anger (!!!)
  • Allison and the label had no idea Dilana was going to release “Holiday” on her album.   If Allison knew, she wouldn’t have put it on the album.
  • Allison want to go even harder on the next album…

  • Smart. Young. Talented. Lovely. Good luck, girl.

PS The tweets are fine with me. She’s 17 and of the texting generation. Snnapppsss.

  • I’ll be interested in seeing how she grows and develops as an artist over the next few years.

  • I’m feeling better about the music video. JohnM is right, it may have a retro feel to it. I was trying to think of what that checkered background reminded me of… its this video from 1982 (beware of bad hair!):

Allison should think about covering this song – it fits right into her theme, and this chick had attitude, too. It still sound good to me!

  • JohnM: Orlando’s not much farther than that for you ‘” December 18 jingle ball, perhaps?

I don’t think I’ll be able to attend as much as I want to see this band live. Who knows tho.

Jack5791 :I get a feeling from this interview that a lot of her songs might sound the same, and they all seem to be really about the same subject material.

I don’t think Alli was saying the album to be about the same subject. It’s difficult for Alli as it is for me as well, to express a creative thought in a manner others can understand. The way to fully express yourself is to materialize your artistic vision. I’m going to help her explain this “same” bit with Pink Floyd. Now, am not saying “Just like you” is up there with Floyd, but it is in the same vein in relation to the theme of the album. Dark Side of the Moon, one of the most influential rock albums of all time had a principal theme at it’s vertebra: madness. The main theme remain constant across the album( Conflict, greed, dark), but with variation explaining different angles of madness. Allison explains that payback is sweet as the theme of Just Like You. And she tries to explain the sequence of the album which is very impresive in and of it self. Similar to Pinks “breakup” album.

  • Reflections On Life

the dilana holiday thing reminds me of a similar fiasco in the late 90s, when both leann rhimes & trisha yearwood simultaneously released “how do i live without you”, but in that case i think the movie producer and the song author/publisher were directly involved in those 2 decisions is a very public way. (leann’s song became the best selling song of the decade! but i prefer trisha’s more poignant & tender delivery.)

  • WTF is wrong with Jive/19?!?!?! Even Michael Sarver is coming out with news today. Michael Sarver!!!
    WHY ISN’T JIVE MARKETING ALLISON!!!!

  • And, why hasn’t Slezak, arguably the biggest supporter of Allison in the media, reviewed snipets/full songs of the album!!!! Is Jive providing Slezak with what he needs?
Besides Ellen, are there any appearances planned? Why does her official website does not have an updated calendar of upcoming events (like the Ellen interview, and the Torrid listening THIS WEEKEND)?

  • We learned from a very tiny snippet on Billboard that Allison is releasing the Spanish version of FIBOU to Spanish stations. Why is this not in her website so that people can call and request the song? Has anyone thought of having Allison appear at Spanish radio/TV stations to promote the album?

  • Jeez, LoveDaRocker… a little cranky this morning?

Allison is on the east coast this week… maybe she’s gonna pay Slezak a little visit. I think overall promo is definitely picking up.

  • Indeed. Much better now after lunch (and some Tea) :-) .

  • She’ll be on Good morning america on December 1st too. It’s in her official website under events. I’m a little frustrated with the promo too but hopefully it’ll pick up this week. Sarver may have news, but he doesn’t have an album out in two weeks :)

  • The Events section of the website has been updated. I thought that the Torrid store event was Nov. 20 and 21 (Friday and Saturday). The website says that it is the 22nd (Sunday).
