More on Ruben Studdard’s Marriage and Is Paris Bennett Engaged?
Rodney Ho, from the American Idol Buzz blog spoke to Ruben Studdard’s manager, Cedric Evans this morning, and he’s got some details regarding Ruben’s upcoming nuptials (Saturday, according to reports) and career plans.
Ruben and his girlfriend Surata Zuri McCant’s, a flight attendant he met in 2006 at a Wal-Mart signing, plan to marry this weekend in Birmingham. No word on their honeymoon destination. People magazine reports that Ruben plans on having 20 groomsmen attend his wedding.

…Studdard is going back to his à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ roots by doing an album of covers. (Clay did it!). In his case, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll do R&B classics by the likes of Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson. Working with Minneapolis producers Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, Studdard is nearly done and Evans said heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s aiming for an August release date. (Lewis and Jam helped produce his farewell song for à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ this season à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Celebrate Me Homeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ).
Ruben begins rehearsals for the National tour of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” in October.
Now, what’s up with the Princess? Miss Paris Bennett is sporting a big diamond rock on her left ring finger, according to peeps who caught her act at the AARP Divas concert over the weekend. Check out the photos. She also, uhm, appears to have gained a little weight.

She does look pregnant to me. But, what I found most interesting in that photo of Paris & her Grandma is that Danny F*#king Tidwell is dancing in the background!
I’m excited about Ruben recording a CD of covers. His voice lends itself to those nice, smooth R&B standards much better than the hip-hoppy stuff he did on his last CD.
As for Paris, looks like a “baby bump” to me!
how old is paris now? 20? i can’t remember. wasn’t she suppose to be in a supporting role on broadway for “Legally Blonde”? and I also noticed Danny!!!
Paris turns 20 on August 21st. (I had to do a Google search on the exact date; although I knew she turned 18 on the Idol tour two years ago).
That does look like a baby to me.
According to the article, Paris is 19. Paris has to be the biggest disappointment from S5. She got tons of praise on the show and had the celebrity mentors raving about her. But she was awful on the tour and put out a horrible album. It’s kind of hard to tell what’s going on, but I’m def seeing a “bump.”

Amen to that. She was so busy booty shaking on the tour, she could barely finish her lyrics. And what I heard of her cd was pretty terrible.
He is currently in Somalia on a Unicef mission. He may not make it back by Saturday.

That wedding sounds like it’s gonna be a biggie. Good on Ruben. That cd sounds just like what his fans from the show have been asking for. Smooth, classic R&B. He does it well. I am sure Kim Locke and maybe Kim Caldwell will be there because they are good friends. I think he invited Justin G too. I want lots of pictures.
Yes, that is an engagement bump, I mean baby bump for Paris, I think. I wish her well too though.
I just can’t imagine Clay not being at Ruben’s wedding. Now I am wondering if we will recognize any of the 20 groomsmen or bridesmaids? Wishing him the very best.
