New Song from Elliott Yamin, “The Bridge is Burning” Plus, “Wait For You” Certified Platinum
Hey, the Davids aren’t the only Idols making new music.
Season 5’s Elliott Yamin has been busy recording a new album (in between trips to promote an import version of his first album Wait For You in Japan.
After the jump, listen to a brand new song from Elliott called “The Bridge is Burning”.

Also some very good news for Elliott–his hit song “Wait For You” has been officially certified platinum.
Whoo hoo! Go Elliott!
Last year, “Wait for You” peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks charts. It climbed to #4 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and Top 40 Mainstream Charts.

Great to hear Elliott again. that percussion sound that sounds like a record skip–I found that distracting, not enhancing, about this song. But otherwise, I liked it.

Congrats to Elliott on becoming a “Platinum selling artist”. I’m proud of him. (Always was, though.)
Where has his album ended up in total sales? Last time I looked, I think it was about 700K. Maybe he can get platinum for that eventually, too. I don’t know how second albums affect the sales of the first. Like, stopped forever? Or the first one sells more because people are buying the second one? (It works that way with books, that people go back to buy the earlier ones when a new one drops.)
Or, if the country music panel linked to a few days ago knows what they’re talking about, nobody is buying whole cds anymore at all, and it’s all about the singles…
I really like E and his voice but this song sounds so similar to his first cd. the same clapping etc. I was hoping for a different sound for his second cd. wonder if he is using the same production team? I’m hoping for something different for some of the songs. puhleeze E!

According to Ken Barnes: 517K. Since it’s only selling a couple of hundred albums a week, that’s probably where it will stay. Usually once they drop down that far they don’t recover. The album has done well in Japan and other parts of Asia. So worldwide sales : 700K plus. Try to remember that these are sales for an indie artist.
This is not somebody that had a million dollar budget and all the promo 19 and Sony can provide so those numbers are amazing.
I like don’t love the new song. However, it seems much more professionally produced than stuff from the first album. Elliott’s second album will have the same problems as all Idol sophmore albums. Unless he can pull out another big Top 40 hit, his sales will show a major drop . Look at Kellie Pickler’s sales (and she’s all over TV, etc.) and you’ll see the problem. Plus his indie status will really hurt as promo will be so tough to get.
On the other hand, he’s really got something unique vocally so maybe it’ll all work out. Elliott and Archie are both guys who many people thought could never make it on Top 40 radio. I think their “look” and “vibe” played into that. But when you have the chops and the emotion, you can do it.So I’m not surprised that both have had their first single go platinum. (Crush will be there pretty soon, folks. No doubt.)

totally agree with this statement…otherwise I liked it. It does have a similar feel as ‘wait for you’…I guess they are trying to tag onto the success of his first hit, which is not a bad idea.

This song was leaked. Elliott did not know that it was leaked until Monday when he was told that this song was all over the internet. There’s no way of knowing if this was a final product or not.
I love the song.
I still don’t love this song but it’s starting to grow on me. I found it sounds better to listen to in the daytime. :p

I Wish That
I like “Bridge is Burning” but can’t stand “I Wish That”. Good for Elliott on WFY going platinum. It will be interesting to see if either of the above songs will be on his new album.

Surprising that WFY is only now being certified plat considering it was #41 for the entire year on the Hot 100 year-end chart. Guess sales don’t always translate to chart position. I like this one. It seems similar but just misses on the hook for me.
It doesn’t really do justice to his fabulous voice, but I still like it for the most part.
Whoa. “Wait For You” went platinum? Nice! I had to check the RIAA database just to see it with my own eyes. lol
I really, really like this song! It actually kind of reminds me of a mix between Bleeding Love and Crush for some reason. Anyway, I hope it makes his next cd. I think radio will like this one!

I absolutely love the song and the Elliott vocals. I don’t know who leaked the song, but it was great to hear a new cut from him. I will be the first in line to get this tune when it is “officially” released. I love it so much…it may be my newest ringtone as well. Great job E!!!!
It’s very ‘radio friendly’.
Think I prefer it to Be Apart but wth, it’s Elliott, i’m sold!
I like it. Started out w/the clapping but lightened up. One other thing I noticed is there are not as many runs. Dance friendly and radio friendly!!!!!!!
