I think your family tradition of going to the AI tour concert is……..something very special and wonderful memories for you all to share!! Thanks for such a fun read of
a moment by you and your family!!
I’m finding, a few peeps are finding, most of the idols are, definitely, better live. Many good reasons for that,not the least being, the atmosphere of utter excitment, the darkness with the bright lights and other production “WOWs”. What Michael said about standing up, and then telling anyone behind to stand too, if You’r blocking their view!!!LOL He did set the tone, eh!
Matt is doing so great now and, of course, even non followers are blown away by the Adam and then lovely kris keeps us beguiled and then calmed to reality with Na Na Na and you almost feel a kinship with all in the room!
You are so lucky to have a engaged family. So many today are so disengaged from each other and they don’t know what they are missing!!!
Appears you all had a better than fine time. Yes!!!

So do this again next year and we’ll be looking for your re-cap!!! Thanks Newbie389!!

by-the-way I believe they converted Men’s Bathrooms to Women’s just for the concert considering the attendance; mostly women.

I don’t want to question your assumption, AnninSD, but I have to ask, how would they know the audience would be mostly women? They have no way of knowing that, based on ticket sales. So maybe they just assume that, for whatever reason, more women use the rest rooms at intermission, at large concerts?

(At the Boston concert there was a long line for the ladies’ room but not for the mens’. The attendance in Boston wasn’t mostly women, though. It seemed pretty evenly mixed.)

I agree with dhunken! You younger posters are doing a great job and I love reading your experiences. Such enthusiasm and so much fun. Thank you for writing it.

I loved the parts about your dad getting the rundown of the season on the way to the concert. So cool how you go as a family. My parents would have never considered taking me to a concert (and dropping me off) in the ’80s when I was a teen, much less go with me. That’s a great family experience. I’m really glad you all enjoyed it.

Yeah, and my vote is they convert a men’s room to a women’s room for certain events. I saw my first show at an arena that’s primarily for hockey and let me tell you, they DEFINITELY should have converted one of the men’s rooms. It was easily the worst line I’ve ever seen. I held it, but my friend went while I waited. I was about ready to send the fire department in after her ‘â€œ it took FOREVER. I finally gave up and went back to our seats, sure we had just missed each other because it couldn’t have possibly taken that long. Wrong, it did.

I’m happy you enjoyed Adam and Kris even though your favorite was Matt. We met Matt and he’s a real doll! I wish him the best of luck in his career! I was at the Cleveland concert too and had the best time! The crowd was awesome!

The ladies room had urinals because it’s really a men’s’ room that they convert to Ladies when there are big crowds. Those lines were LONG!!

It’s particularly interesting reading reviews from fans of anyone other than Kris or Adam because the focus changes from a competition between those two (which I’m really, really tired of!) to the merits of the individual performances. So glad you had such a great time and, since I’ll be going to my first-ever Idol concert on Wednesday, I’m really excited to hear that you think this one is the best so far.

How great you went with your Mom & Dad again and S8 was the favorite concert for all of you, great stuff to hear.

Your bathroom breaks cracked me up, urinals in a lady’s room, why the nerve of those peeps for doing that!!! Not a bit surprised at the comments that were going around Also enjoyed hearing your Dad’s fake-outs of past concerts – so typical of most men I’ve known! haha

Good observations and I appreciate you going with an open mind vs. your impressions from TV. 2 completely different things to me live vs. TV and/or TV vs. recordings; each is good in their own way.
That with the fact they have basically practiced this show now dozen’s of times vs. once or twice makes a huge difference for some of the performers.

Thanks for the recap. I enjoyed your writing style, so it was a lot of fun to read . Thanks for taking the time to type it up.The uninal thing in the women’s bathroom was wierd, huh? And yes, it is a significant memory of the first time seeing Adam perform live in concert. I was wondering what your father thought of that The kids all did just fine and are working so hard on tour. At the end of season tour, they will all do well in their own ways and these will be the memories that will be their strongest.I wish them all the best.
