Nigel Lythgoe, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, can’t understand why Simon Cowell would leave Idol (power, Nigel, power).
He’s not a fan of the 4-judge format, but he IS a fan of Allison Iraheta. If he were a singer, he’d like to sing like Danny Gokey, and he thinks Adam Lambert is an incredible talent, but wishes he used the “rock wail” less. He compares Adam to Freddie Mercury.
Nigel stops just shy of saying who he thinks will win. He says only Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson were the only winners that were near #1 every week.
