People magazine reports that Paris Bennett had a her baby Monday afternoon. A girl, Egypt Bennett, was born at 3:36 p.m. weighing in at 5 lbs., 15 oz.

“I’m so excited to finally see my little angel – and man, does she have lungs on her,” the first-time mom said. “I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.”

I’m really having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that she has a child. I haven’t seen her since Idol and it seems that time should have stood still.

Duke, did ya know that Aretha Franklin had a kid at around Paris’ age? Even younger if I remember correctly…..not saying it’s gonna be easy, but mothers work all of the time.

I’m looking for that cd too, and not the xmas crap. I don’t buy xmas music, not even from Ms. Bennett.

I hope Paris and Egypt are happy and healthy!

So, the father chooses not to be in the public’s eye….

Just curious — are they engaged to be married ?

Egypt is a beautiful name, and I hope mother and child are well and happy.

As for her music career…yes, it probably will be harder with a child, but certainly not impossible. I suppose it depends a lot on what kind of career she wants to have.
