Paula Abdul Joins the Color Guard – Late Night With David Letterman – VIDEO

eta: replaced screencap with new photo from wire image!

Paula Abdul appeared on Late Night with David Letterman last night, and her agent, or lawyer, or somebody convinced Paula to please STFU, because she remained tight-lipped about the Paula Goodspeed incident when Dave asked about it. Or suggested that she sue the pants off TPTB. Heh.

But, this clip is worth watching for her outfit alone. I mean, WTF is up with the marching band getup? You can’t see it in the screencap, but she’s also wearing bright red platform shoes. It’s really…something.

Video after the JUMP…

  • LOL All she needs is the make up and she’s Adam Ant!

  • Does she also have on rainbow socks? I think she does….

  • Words fail me on that jacket alone.

Paula is such a FREAK!! I love her….

Come to think of it, they would have totally put her through in an Idol audition, just for laughs.

Suddenly, I feel like watching Drumline….

  • She reminds me to Michael Jackson, I think poor Paula finally lost it…

    Suddenly, I feel like watching Drumlineà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.

    lol…I love that movie

  • Well she must be really stressed out recently, I guess…

  • Paula is such a goof I could see the producers not giving a rip about anything she says. LOL. I mean, look at her? Would you listen to that woman? Heh.

I must say, all of this is making me excited about season 8. Which Paula will show up at the judges table – semi lucid, weirdo, or lusty Paula? Will Kara be able to deal with the crazy from Paula, the snide from Simon, and the inane from Randy and not kill anyone? Will Simon become even more insufferable now that he has more behind the scenes power? Will Randy get even more passive-aggressively jealous now that he has TWO industry types who will get more attention than him? Which camp will Kara end up in – Judges Contestants Politely Nod To But Don’t Care What The Hell They Say, or Judges Everyone Knows Should Be Taken Seriously – aka Simon? Will the contestants be compelling enough to distract us from the judge drama? I can’t wait. Bring it on!

  • It’s X-Mas folks ! She is merely dressing for it y’all !

She looks like a Nutcracker without the tall hat. She is a Nut and a Crackpot so that works.

  • Sure, Paula is eccentric and likes to go big, whatever she’s doing (even if its major craziness). But I feel for her as TPTB definitely violated her safety purely for ratings. I’m with Letterman on the sueing, but clearly she’s between a rock and a hard place with her livelihood so tied up with AI. And Letterman, as he’s so prone to do, squeezed her in even more. What’s she supposed to say? She’s in a similiar position as the AI contestants – they can’t really say anything negative about the show – or else. It’s one of the things about this show that make it so slimy to me.

  • Well, it’ll be interesting if she does sue, then we’ll see how much of it is true, and how much of it is just her own peculiar reconstruction of what happened. The fact is that what Paula said doesn’t really tally with what we saw – the words she used – “shaking”, “frightening”, she “couldn’t look up” when they let her in, and then see the audition video again, nothing of the sort in the video. The truth is very likely less dramatic and interesting than what she said, but do sue away Paula, we need some entertainment.

Editing is an amazing thing……just saying. Paula is nutz but she is a ‘lovable’ nutz. She was definitely sporting the “Nutcracker” persona with that outfit, she even did a little Nutcracker walk LOL I love Paula even though I had a really hard time forgiving her for what she did to Jason last season :down_tb:

Sometimes the videos we see aren’t as they happened, meaning they could use the producers’ audition video as the judges’ audition video.

  • With this lovely ensemble, Paula has been honored with an appearance on Go Fug Yourself:

From the earlier pictures I somehow had not realized that her leggings were *sequined*.

  • Thanks for this video, MJ.

I can’t understand it, but I really like Paula.

Although she comes across to me as a very “nutty” person, she also appears to very vulnerable as well. She has done all these supposedly scandalous things and appears “loopy” at times, but I think she is an emotionally astute judge of talent.

She has, at heart, a lot of compassion for her fellow human beings. I also think it’s this tenderheartedness that has made her vulnerable to manipulation by self-seeking people like Simon Cowell.

  • Ackkkk, the Redcoats are coming. Hide, y’all!
