Paula Abdul’s New Song

Check out Paula Abdul’s new song, “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow.  Whaddaya think?  It’s a cut from Randy Jackson’s forthcoming compilation album that also includes a duet from Elliott Yamin and Katharine McPhee.

Rumor has it, that the video for the single, or Paula singing it live, or something…will be premiering at the Super Bowl in two weeks.

Hmmm….the song is generic.  Typically over-processed vocals.  Not impressed…

Thanks jadore…

It doesn’t even sound like her! If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was Miley Cyrus.

Well, I’m sure there’s a very good reason the vocals are overproduced. The Super Bowl should be, uh, interesting.

Weak, weak, weak. Janet Jackson wannabe. Wonder if she’ll have a wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl. Heh.

I’m totally NOT into pop, but I think Randy chose a perfect song for her. It’s a great dance song — which is what it’s supposed to be, eh? I think the entire CD is dance music. It’s super catchy and it’s also classic Paula, it reminds me of some of her earlier things from back in her day. I personally assume that the computer effects are intended to make it “modern,” not to cover up any vocal shortcomings. her voice is distinctive, and I don’t hear anything to make me think it’s any different now than it was in her superstar days. you either like it or you don’t, but she sold a helluva lot of albums with it. They’re about to make the video, and that’s what her forte always was, so it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with.

And that is probably one reason why the song will probably make it to pop radio and probably do well in terms of downloads and sales.

IT APPEALS TO THE MODERN EAR.

I’m very interested in seeing the video. Back in the day, she was an amazing dancer… Also, I kinda like the song but I was a big fan of her music before - Hit and Run, Cold Hearted Snake - good stuff.

I was a fan of some of Paula’s stuff back in the day. “Straight Up” is one of the best videos of the 80’s and not a bad song either.

This one is processed to the hilt, but it’s a’ight.

I have always liked Paula Abdul, her great dancing/choreography years, her crazy years, so, Go Paula! Hope this one is a hit for ya!

IT APPEALS TO THE MODERN EAR.

IMO, the modern ear is hard of hearing.

The voices in your head should be reminding you that you are not a kid anymore, Paula.

Perfect song for paula. I like it a lot. That’s the song that JLO or Jordin should be singing.

I like the song, it’s a an modernization of the stuff she did twenty years ago. It’s Paula, not Alicia Keys for goodness sakes. She was never a singer, can’t wait to see the video that is where she shined. Pretty good job Paula!

Generic, sure. But, I think it’s remarkable that she’s even trying a musical comeback after all this time. She was so HUGE back in the day and she’s got AI now, she really doesn’t have to risk it with a lame comeback attempt.

She sounds good, not great. I do agree that she should sing a more mature song.
