Phil Stacey - Manchester, NH

Here’s Phil Stacey singing “Blaze of Glory” during the final concert Sunday night:

I caught up with Phil Stacey at the after party Sunday night. He looked tired, but happy as he held his  sweet baby girl, McKayla. She’s the baby who was born during Phil’s audition in front of the judges in Memphis.  Backstory baby?  Heh.  But is she cute or what? I asked him if the end of the tour was bittersweet for him, and he said, “No, it’s sweet, I know that I’ll be keeping in touch with everyone.” Phil reminded me that he’s moving to Nashville, TN, as is Chris Sligh. Melinda Doolittle is already there, of course.

The big news: Phil told me that he “has signed with a major label,” and that he will be making an announcement soon on his My Space.  Phil mentioned that he has signed on with the same Christian management company as Chris Sligh.  Phil says the album will be released sometime next April.

Phil and his family were traveling right back to Jacksonville, FL the next morning.  He had to report back to the Navy on Monday!  Yikes.

Those of you who saw the show saw Phil really come into his own during the tour. His big voice fills a big arena with no problem, and his years on the road with the Navy band are evident–he knows how to connect with a large audience.  He is a completely different performer live than he was on television where he seemed uncomfortable and stiff, particularly at the beginning of the competition.

Fun fact:  His wife Kendra sat right next to Sarah and I during the first half of the show holding McKayla on her lap…

Awwww, that pic of him with McKayla turned out so cute! Congrats to Phil on the signing! I’ll be excited to hear who it’s with. :)

Wow, Phil & Chris & Jordin….so little love for LaKisha here. She’s got serious pipes and a great future, in my book. Broadway is not just some good exposure, it’s also a chance for her to hone her performance skills. The Oprah seal of approval ain’t chicken feed either….

I liked Phil a lot on the show. This performance was just okay for me though. We’ll see once his music comes out.

I think Broadway is a big score for Lakisha and I wish her nothing but the best.

How about having a little patience? I’ll be covering every Idol one at a time this entire week.

Check out the Headlines thread. There’s plenty of love for Lakisha there. And it’s on topic. Let’s keep the conversation focused on Phil here. Thank you.

I love Phil, and, will certainly be keeping an eye on his career. I wish him many blessings. I believe he is going to do very well.

Really nice camara work, especially from about 2:00 to 2:15 or so. Or maybe Phil was just moving like that. Also? I love Phil’s jacket. If I knew where to get one, I’d buy it for my husband.

I think Phil was well-received on tour. Seems like nearly every review I read mentioned what a surprise he turned out to be on stage.

Phil has an awesome BIG voice. I can’t wait to hear his music. That baby of his is just pinchable!

Got to meet McKayla with Kendra in the afterparty on the 22nd. She’s just too cute for words. First she was playing with the camera, then the cell phone, then she stole Haley’s hat. And what can I say about Phil? If any of you have read my reviews anywhere, you’ll know that I have so much to say about him. He’s just absolutely amazing and Phil and Kendra are probably two of the nicest people I have ever met.

Oh and if anyone wants to see my videos of Phil from the 22nd…not as good as MJ’s videos of course:

    SQUEEE!!! Phil!!!!

I am so glad that he got signed by a “major label” (Please, oh please let it by Lyric Street Records). I don’t know anything about the “Christian Management Company” but I guess yahoo for that too.

Phil’s recorded voice is stunning. I can’t wait for the record.

I’m very happy for Phil being signed by a major label, can’t wait to hear more about it. He has a wonderful voice and seems like a very sweet guy.

Awwwww, I think it’s cute that McKayla and Phil have the same haircut!!

    *bah dum dum*

KIDDING, I’m totally kidding. Totally cute photo, and count me in as another Phil fan post-Idol tour. Not only did I find him to be naturally engaging onstage, but afterwards as well. We waited by the buses and I didn’t want to bother him to stop signing to take a picture. He must’ve noticed me with my camera from the corner of his eye, cause when he finished signing something, he looked up at me and positioned himself between the bars of the fence (this was in Bridgeport, where there’s a tall fence blocking everyone), and smiled for me to get a great shot. I hope he does very well wherever he ends up.

I’ve been eagerly checking Phil’s myspaces several times a day to see what kind of label he’s signing with. I’ll buy whatever he puts out, but I sure hope he gets to sing songs like Blaze of Glory live in the future. He may never want to sing it again after the tour, but then again, if he’s been singing it for 15 years already, maybe a few more times down the road will be okay :-) Can’t wait to go to a live concert of just Phil.

Here’s to the good new life for Phil and his family! Much Phil love here.
