I think the reason the judges (read: the producers) didn't like Phil is because they thought he wouldn't be as marketable as some of the other contestants. Whatever. I was thinking it was sad for him to come "all the way" from Nashville (3 hours by car) to sing just 2 songs- but to see him on the Today show the next morning is crazy. Maybe he flew out last night? Pretty nice gig considering Alan Jackson's wife gave a witness and promoted her book right after him, and then out comes Michael W Smith!
