Phil Stacey sent out a My Space bulletin a couple of weeks ago, announcing that he’d signed a record deal:
I signed a record deal yesterday. I can’t go into detail about it, because it isn’t newsworthy yet, but I am incredibly excited about the people I will be working with for the record. It is a major label deal and we are planning on putting out a record in April of next year. Until then, I’ll be doing a lot of touring. When I get some dates, I’ll let you know.
He performed at the Factory in Nashville, TN with Melinda Doolittle last night, and tells a local interviewer that he’s just signed to Lyric Street Records, home to fellow AI alums Bucky Covington and Josh Gracin. Congrats Phil!

Congratulations Phil!
Not only on getting signed, but for getting signed with Lyric Street Records. They really seem to do well by the Idols they sign.
Congrats to Phil! :)
I haven’t been following Phil news but am wondering if he’s said what type of album he wants to do. He seemed to do better with country on the show.
My hope is that his album is Country-Rock. Congratulations Phil. Let “The Voice” be heard.
aww… cute baby !!!! (and the kid’s cute ,too !!)
Good for Phil! Can’t wait to hear what he puts out. I’m also hoping it’s country.
Lyric Street is definitely a country label and you are right about them treating their artists well. Their most famous artists are Rascal Flatts. This is a fairly new label but appears to be up-and-coming. I am real happy for Phil. I think we will see more and more Idol alumni coming over to the country field since they seem to appreciate the Idol background which I think they consider a cachet rather than a stigma.
Will be interested in hearing what Phil does but I’m a little concerned considering the recent 2007 track record of Lyric Street with Idols. They’ve had some trouble with Josh Gracin’s second album and had to push back the release a few times despite his first album which did well. And Bucky has only had moderate success with his album which should be doing better considering the quality.
Congratulations to Phil!
I wish him all the best!
Way to go, Phil! Well done!
If it’s lyric street then he must be doing country, which is good, probably where he can fit best in. I still think he’s way too unmemorable and bland to do very well, but then again I really thought Bucky had no buisness in the top 12, and I ended up absolutely loving his album, and 300,000 copies sold is pretty good. So with the right songs who knows.
Congratulations to Phil! I’m so happy for him.
