Piers Morgan Confirms Susan Boyle’s Missed ‘America’s Got Talent’ Performance (UPDATE: Lou Reed not the cause for SueBo missing her performance)

UPDATE:  Reps for Lou Reed told Access Hollywood today that despite reports, Reed did not turn down a request for SuBo to sing one of  his songs on AGT.

Due to a glitch, the song was not cleared for the American market in time for the show.  It had been cleared for use in the UK, but not the US.

I’m a little disappointed Lou wasn’t responsible!

Access also received a statement from Susan’s reps:

“Susan was due to perform a chosen song from her new album ‘The Gift’ on ‘America’s Got Talent’ in Los Angeles, ” the statement to Access read. “It is with real disappointment and regret that she has been unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances relating to the song.

“Susan is very disappointed as she had been looking forward to it immensely. She is now on a plane heading back to London with a heavy heart, ” the statement continued. “Susan really looks forward to being able to perform her new songs very soon.”

ETA: That entire report from Access Hollywood is a cluster f*ck.

Reps say  “Walk On The Wild Side, ” was the only song SueBo rehearsed? I thought it was “Perfect Day.” The latter is more her speed (although, what I wouldn’t do to see SueBo sing WOTWS).

And that statement from Susan’s reps? There are NO Lou Reed songs on The Gift.  WTF?

TMZ reported yesterday that Britain’s Got Talent phenom, Susan Boyle, arrived in Los Angeles  yesterday, set to perform Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” on last night’s America’s Got Talent.

When Susan found out at the last minute that Reed refused to clear the song, she reportedly “dissolved into tears” and was unprepared to change her song for the show.

Well, AGT judge Piers Morgan more or less confirmed the story to Access Hollywood backstage at last night’s show.

“I think there’s just some issue about the releasing of the Lou Reed song ‘Perfect Day, ’” he told AH, “And ironically, it turned into an imperfect day.”

Piers told Access that Susan not performing was due to “a contractual thing.”

“I’m really sad, ”  said Piers, “I love Susan… She’s OK.”

Access Hollywood was unable to reach reps for Susan, while NBC had no comment.

Fellow AGT judge, Sharon Osbourn had no idea what was going on, when she learned that Susan would not be appearing as planned.

“We were like, ‘Oh, she’s not gonna be on?’ We don’t get told anything around here. We get told nothing, ” Sharon told AH. “We just turn up, but we were just as sad as all her fans ‘cause there’s so many fans of hers in the audience tonight, so it was a bummer for everyone really.”

The weird thing about this–Susan’s appearance must have been a planned surprise, because it was not promoted by NBC ahead of time.

ETA: Oh, I’m with a lot of you in comments. Feel like we dodged a bullet. Pretty happy to be spared her saccharine interpretation of a Lou Reed song.
