Preview Clay Aiken Single - “On My Way Here”

The Popeater blog has a preview of the new Clay Aiken single, “On My Way Here”, written by Ryan Tedder of One Republic. Clay, as usual, is in fine vocal form on this sentimental track. The single is the title track of Clay’s upcoming album, due to drop May 6.

I can’t get this to play. Is anyone else having trouble? Is there another link? Maybe it’s Mozilla, but, I also tried IE, and, it isn’t working with that browser either.

It’s a good song, on Adult Contemporary radio it will do well. it might cross over to top 10 Albums. Voice sounds really really good. Arrangement is good.

It’s been a long time coming, but Clay’s finally found the perfect song. It works with his voice and the lyrics are meaningful. While I doubt this will be a pop hit, it will do very well on the AC charts and maybe even radio. The Claymates will certainly love it and if all the songs on the album are in this vein, I think the album will sell very, very well.

I had recorded Idol Rewind’s Sedaka week and watched last night. That was the night Clay sang “Solitaire,” one of his best performances on the show. This song reminds me of that performance.

I finally got a chance to listen to this song - very, very pretty! I had tried listening to Ryan Tedder’s version a while back, but I could not get through it all as Ryan’s voice was so awful. Clay’s version is so much better.

I didn’t like Ryan Tedder’s version either, lrt, which was why I wasn’t looking forward to this single. But, after giving this one a listen, I think Clay’s voice (and the nice arrangement) made the song work.

I wonder if both Clay and Kelly Clarkson’s next albums will really be great, since following their being thrown under the bus by Clive, they feel they have nothing to lose by doing what they want…kind of the way the farewell sing-off of a contestant leaving is often pretty good, or better than the competition performance because the pressure is off.

Both albums may be relaxed and centered in a way that the previous ones weren’t, when there was more at stake in the eyes of the label.

Clay certainly knows his audience. I think this release will please his fans though I can’t imagine it converting new ones.

This is a good song for his voice and a very nice arrangement. According to what I have been reading, not all the songs on the new CD are in this style. He himself said that it is very eclectic.

Thank you, Primeminister. It’s a lovely song, and, typical Clay Aiken.

Aww, I don’t hate it. Good job, Clay.

I think all these weeks of listening to a certain contestant singing drippy ballads has made me appreciate how freakin’ good Clay is at this stuff.

This is a very good song for Clay in that it fits his style and his voice very well. I don’t think it’s a particularly interesting song, but it will probably serve him well in breaking this new album. It may not be a hit, but I thought the same thing about Elliott’s “Wait for You”, so I’m not the best judge….

I have Measure of a Man and this sounds so much like one of the songs on it. I do like Clay as I also have his Christmas album and it’s one of my favorite holiday ones. I hope he does something uptempo on this one as a cd of only ballads gets old, you need to change things up occasionally. I hope he does better with this one than the last.

Clay sounds good and this is a good song for him. I sent the link to my best friend because she’s a big Clay fan so I knew she would be excited. :)

Ryan Tedder is just becoming Clive’s b*tch, huh? ;)

Interesting thought. I hope you’re right for both of them.

I am writing this to thank all the people of this site. I am a big fan of Clay’s—I’ve seen him in concert over two dozen times. I enjoy his voice, his sense of humor, his interaction with the audience, as well as the humanitarian he is, being involved with both the Bubel Aiken Foundation and UNICEF. I don’t expect everyone to like him the way I like him. But what I can’t understand is the amount of hate that seems to be spewed on every site that even mentions his name. This is honestly the first site I have found that actually just voices opinions about his talent, without making accusations and insinuations about him. I really don’t understand it. There are lots of kinds of music and hundreds of performers. I like some. I don’t like others. But I would never think of making a point of visiting lots of sites just to purposely spread hateful rumors because I decided I didn’t like the person or their music. Would these people leave him alone if he was out drinking and partying with half a dozen different women every night? Would that somehow make him normal in their eyes? Is that their idea of what a man should be? I’m sorry to get on a soapbox here, but as I said…your site just made me so happy, I just couldn’t stop writing. Then again, I love to write. If you don’t believe me, check out page 215 of Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul…”It’s All Clay Aiken’s Fault”. And BTW, if you’d like to see some behind the scenes coverage of the making of the CD, you should check out the WRAL site. I know at one point they had videos posted there.

Oh come on, wtf is this, a freaking advertisement? It would figure that we couldn’t just have a normal Clay thread. I feel sorry for him. This is nuts!
