That’s Ruben Studdard singing “Celebrate Me Home” during the eliminated contestant’s goodbye video. Not only did he recently record that song, he’ll also be touring this year with the 30th anniversary tour of the musical “Ain’t Misbehavin’” Ruben talks to AI Extra Host JD Roberto, and then performs “Flying Without Wings.”

He has a great R&B voice. You know, if you’re an IDOL you don’t need to be a big recording star. He proves you can be a stage performer, an actor, etc. And others are showing that you don’t need a big hit record. The hit record jumpstarts your career. He has an education degree, so he won’t have to starve.
I know it’s a cheesy song, but I just love it! One of my favorite coronation songs, second only to Fantasia’s. Ruben voice is as beautful as ever. I will catch him on the road somewhere.
Chicago-sally, Rube won’t starve that is for sure, but he didn’t get his degree. I believe the deal was he would leave to persue his singing, and if that didn’t pan out her would return. I think he won’t go back.
Ruuuuuuubennnnnnnnnn!!!
I’m enjoying watching him a 2nd time on AI Rewind. I’m glad things are working out for him, and that his song is being used for the goodbye vids. He has a great voice. Wonder why he chose to sing Flying instead of Celebrate?
Aww, Rueben. I love him. I always want to give him a hug.
I wanna live in his dimples, lol. My little boy has dimples like that and it’s just so irresistable. Yep, huggable too!
I wonder if he’ll be with the touring company that’s coming to Chicago in June/July. (How many Ain’t Misbehavin touring companies can there be?)
I was hoping to see that show and this is just an added incentive. I’ll have to check it out.
I do still enjoy that song and Ruben sounds great. I hope to see him in the show if it comes around.
