missgirl - so true. My dear brother is one of those nice guys. He keeps getting his heart broken by girls who see him as just a nice guy. Reminds me of the movie Crossing Delancy, but in the end the nice guy got the girl.

mississippi - Your ealier post about your mom was beautiful. Glad you got to have some laughs here today.

about men - I think I need to get remarried before next Xmas. I’m tired of carrying all my stuff to the attic.

  3. 1203 mississippigirl Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:20 am

Debs…Bekka has worked a bunch w/Vince for many years. I love my Delbert too. I wish I could find a youtube of “You Were Never Mine”. That is a killer song. Do you know it?

  4. 1204 madaboutu Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:21 am

Well, I gave it a shot! I bit the bullet and went to AOL and listened to Kats snippets. That girl got some bad advice!!!!!! I am not a particular fan but what did they do with that girls lovely voice? And the electronics….bad. I also went to watch more of Daughtry and had to admit I laughed out loud when the first vid came on. You can tell he is trying to put more movement into it, but not quite comfortable yet. I feel much better about Taylor and his moves now. Bless them all.

  5. 1205 Debs Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:21 am

    Mary R,
I loved the movie Crossing Delancy. Of course I would. Bubbi was a hoot. It was great when his hands smelled of vanilla. What a coincidence before.:)

  6. 1206 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:23 am

debs, we all should have a grandmother like Bubbi!

  7. 1207 mississippigirl Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:24 am

MaryR…yes and doesn’t that just kill you for your brother? Girls need to wise up and yes, I’m talking to myself!

Lu…thank you so much. I saw your response earlier and then it got lost in the moon stuff again, lol. That’s a nice goal you have. By next Christmas. Very direct. :)

    Deb…going to listen now.

  8. 1208 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:24 am

And Crossing Delancy is one of my favorites. I could never figure out what took Amy Irving so long to fall for that wonderful guy.

  9. 1209 pj Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:24 am

I haven’t seen that flick. Guess I should put it in my queue.

  10. 1210 pj Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:27 am

    Hiya Lu! :)

  11. 1211 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:28 am

missgirl - I hate to watch it. He is just a wonderful guy, great with kids, well-read, good looking, but I see him giving up and it just breaks my heart.

    pj - it’s a wondeful movie

  12. 1212 mississippigirl Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:29 am

Debs….that was simply beautiful. I love those kinds of songs! She just has such a unique voice, broken and beautiful and full of fire. I love the fact that Vince had that many songs coming out of him. If they are all this good, which I’ve heard they are, no wonder it’s getting raves.

  13. 1213 Debs Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:29 am

Vince says the most beautiful things about Bekka at her web site. He said when she walked in the first time and didn’t need to warm up, he listened to her, stood up and threw his chair into the hallway she was so incredible. I will look the song up. Delbert is another millionare with his private villa in Mexico (told IMUS this), writing songs with Vince. I don’t recall much top 40 airplay. ;)

  14. 1214 mississippigirl Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:33 am

MaryR…ummmmmm, what’s his sign? lololol. Oh I can see it now, me trying to explain this one to my brother! We’d have to come up with a story.

  15. 1215 Debs Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:36 am

    pj,
I grew up in an area very similar to the one in Crossing Delancey. You’d walk down the avenue and they’d have barrells of dill pickles outside. Where Neil Diamond grew up. One of my all time favorites.

  16. 1216 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:36 am

hehe missgirl - and me explaining it to my brother (he’s a Capricorn) :wink_wp:

  17. 1217 vegasdee Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:37 am

Ya’ll, seriously, my little brother is sooooooo protective of me. I had a missed call one night on my cell and then he called about that time…i innocently asked him who was this number calling me from Mississipi. Turns out, it was a guy he knew AND HE CALLED HIM WANTING TO KNOW WHY HE WAS CALLING HIS SISTER! I was furious. However, little bro knows his stuff and he was concerned. This guy was a playboy. He said “I like him fine, but he’s not going out with my sister”. Turns out, my brother was so right. After all was said and done, I dodged a bullet.

  20. 1220 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:40 am

    hmm missgirl, not looking good:
    Capricorn With Libra:
The worst match up for these two. These two definitely have all the wrong elements. The Capricorn isn’t “social” enough for you. More than that, he can’t be bothered with all intellect and no action. On the surface these two seem to be on the opposite, but the Capricorn is very much influenced by Libra. If Libra does not find the steady Capricorn nature too boring, there is good chance here for a successful marriage.

capricorn and libra - compatibility rank = 1 (10 is best)

Capricorn must keep Libra balanced and both will be at least moderately happy. The prognosis for a long- term involvement is ok, to so-so, provided no secrets are kept from each other. Relatives can sometimes be a problem for these two. The truth will set you both free, so make sure you don’t lie to one another, that’s a sure fire way to end it since both of you detest lies.

  34. 1234 weelassie Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:49 am

Just read that Chase and Cameron from House are engaged. Had no idea they were even a couple!

  35. 1235 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:50 am

pj - not too badCapricorn With Taurus:
Both Taurus and Capricorn hold a mutual understanding of each other’s personalities and traits. This could quite possibly turn out to be a very compatible marriage. Venus and Saturn blend very well from an emotional point of view. Both need a certain amount of flattery and encouragement though, and this makes it a less harmonious than a perfect match does. Taurus will be the one who must take the lead in this direction. While Capricorn may seem a bit cold and aloof at first, the warm style of Taurus will soon melt the exterior of caution and prudence that is inherent in all Capricorn.

capricorn and taurus - astrological compatibility rank = 7 (10 is best)

A good combination of the basic earth signs. Both are responsible and practical in nature. They even have a mutual desire for success and material things. There is a need to infuse some light-hearted fun when things become too serious; even some conservative fun would be enough. All in all a fairly good match up for these two.

Too bad - he was based in Chicago a couple of years ago (he’s a pilot), but now lives in DC

  36. 1236 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:52 am

missgirl - I’m always on the lookout for a good woman for my brother! Actually looking it up more to amuse myself than anything. I did find out that MrR and I are not too compatible.

  37. 1237 weelassie Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:52 am

    pj,
    my lips are sealed. LOL.

  38. 1238 madaboutu Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:53 am

Well, now I haven’t dabbled too much, except for the horoscopes in the paper. Several members of my family are into it though. I am a Virgo and was married to an Aquarius. Supposedly the two don’t mix very well, but we got along great. I’m a widow not divorced.

  39. 1239 pj Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:54 am

MaryR, pilots are like rock stars, right? I’m thinking Val Kilmer in Top Gun. Maybe he’ll meet someone nice in DC. :)

  40. 1240 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:55 am

Not really rockstars. He flies 737’s. More like Howard Borden on the Bob Newhart show (but cuter)

  41. 1241 pj Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:57 am

All my old boyfriends were either Libra or Pisces. Not sure why. It certainly wasn’t at litmus question, but turned out that way.

  42. 1242 pj Jan 7th, 2007 at 1:59 am

MaryR, well, I guess you arnd Mr.R. can thwart the horoscope wisdom! :)

Okay, I’m tard. Nice talking with you all!

  43. 1243 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 2:00 am

And all musicians? Being a musician myself I always found my comrades to be too self-centered for meaningful relationships!

  44. 1244 MaryR Jan 7th, 2007 at 2:01 am

pj - sleep tight. MrR and I have been married for 22 years, but it doesn’t necessarily mean we have been compatible!!!!
