madaboutu:so he finally sang GMT? I wonder how that went over?

    Yup! First song tonight.

BigTayFan………some say it rocked the house…..true?

i think….as in all things, in order to enjoy the present, you need to be able to let go of the past.think about it in terms of relationships…how much can you enjoy your current boyfriend/girlfriend if you are constantly obsessing about an ex? and in the same analogy…imagine when a friend breaks up with someone and then spends five months talking about it….in the beginning you are a good friend and listen, five months later you want to hit them with a frying pan….it is an applicable analogy

Just popping in to say that I get to the frying pan stage way sooner than 5 months. I have no patience for my friends moaning endlessly and not moving on. I’m a horrible person lol.

I’m also quick to move on from disappointment in my own life. So, I don’t hold my friends to a higher standard than I do myself. I just don’t have enough patience or empathy. Amazingly enough, I do still have friends though.

Do you all really listen to someone complain about a failed relationship for 5 months? Because I’m feeling really bad about myself right now.

if theres one song i can’t stand on taylors record its give me tonight, it’s sounds like bad 80s

any thoughts on sundance or do you eat, sleep, and breathe taylor??

The man, Sundance is INCONSISTENT. I’ve only seen him sing great twice — once in the auditions and once last week. He was not impressive in Hollywood or the first night he sang.

But I’ll concede this — he has a strong fan base.

For me, the two guys who deserve to be in the top 10 are Blake Lewis and Chris Sligh.

And BTW, if you bothered to look at all my other posts… you will see that I most definitely DON’T just post about Taylor, although I am a fan of his.

madaboutu: some say it rocked the house…..true?

People were screaming but I’m not sure if it was because of GMT or if they were just excited to finally hear from Taylor.

BTW, IN YOUR TIME, Taylor’s first CD started to sell at his concert venues yesterday. IYT Cds were $25. They were in a plastic sleeve, not a hard plastic jewel case and had a nice picture of Taylor. Last night was the first night available.

THE CDs WERE NOT SIGNED but I hear were SOLD OUT LAST NIGHT.

People must be crazy to buy a CD with just 7 songs for that price.

  8. 458 madaboutu Mar 3rd, 2007 at 10:55 pm

LBB……..of course, people are crazy, but they are thinking that it is special. (Some people also spend that much on a meal and think nothing of it.) He said he is likely to remake it or at least some of the songs, so the originals will be pure, so to speak.

I read that the Tennessee Theater was sold out tonight. This is the 8th sold out venue of the tour in as many nights.

    BigTayFan,

I must be watching a different show. I have yet to see Suckdance sing great.

BTW, Tay just sang “Give Me Tonight”. Will there be ass kicking tonight? ;-)

sewriously Big Tay Fan? Yaay! I am soexcited.. Finally. That’s one of my favorites songs on his CD. Can’t wait to see a video of that.

I think that Melinda will get a recording contract whether she wins or not.I think Lakisha , Stephanie , Jordin and Sabrina will too. She is too talented to go back to singing back-up. Just for the pure revenge of it I would like to see Barbar and Malakar end up on top at the end of the season. That would be justice since AI and company have been so nasty to the AI5 winner. And how long will it be until we see Antonella gracing the cover of Hustler or some such ” classy ” magazine ? :flush_tb:

  15. 465 madaboutu Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:29 pm

Thanks for the pic sweet t!!!!!!!! maracaibo……..I can’t wait to see any video of GMT too. Not sure if we will, but it would be cool.
I am now torn about going to Pala or the Wiltern in L.A., or both. The balcony at the Wiltern gives you a great view. Pala is outdoors and sounds like it will be great…………..and I already have tickets. Decisions, decisions!!

  16. 466 maracaibo Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:49 pm

I am pretty sure BLAKE is one of those who will get a record deal as soon as he is out of AI whether he wins or not. He is too good to pass by and is very marketable. But I do hope he goes far in the competition. I think he will go all the way!

I am anticipating his album already!

  17. 467 Little Boy Blue Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:52 pm

RE: Taylor’s concert thus far…whatever happened to his great saxophonist at LiMBO who was supposed to tour with him ? I’m talking about the incomparable JEFF LOPEZ. Sure Brian Less was there, but where is Mr. Lopez ? Sure hope he’s alright.

  18. 468 BigTayFan Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:53 pm

Tay just added another date on his tour. April 21st at Penn’s Peak (Jim Thorpe, PA). Ticket go on sale Sat, 03/10/07 10:00AM.

  19. 469 Linny Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:55 pm

You people are killing me with the Daughtry fashion statements. I’m thinking of “Recycle that dog chain and dress like Daughtry.” My kids say those chain wallets went out about 5 years ago.

  20. 470 klp Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:00 am

Jeff Lopez is joining the tour in Birmingham. (He had some commitments to attend to, and couldn’t free himself up until then.)

  21. 471 Kat Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:06 am

    Ball was fun.

    My feet hurt.

  22. 472 klp Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:16 am

Looks like I posted incorrectly about Jeff Lopez. alltheanswers just posted on Gray Charles that he won’t be joining them. Sorry for the mis-info.

  23. 473 Tony Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:17 am

    If Blake doesn’t win or isn’t a runner-up, I doubt he’ll get a recording contract. He’s just a decent wannabe.

    Nevada,

My cd doesn’t list him on Heaven Knows…

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong line reading the credits, but the royalty calculation is actually correct. Taylor’s mechanicals are as follows:

    Give Me Tonight (1 of 6) $0.007583
    Soul Thing (1 of 1) $0.0455
    The Deal (1 of 1) $0.0455
    Total: $0.098583

    640,064 x $0.098583 = $63,099.43

He also wrote Hell of a Day, but just on the Walmart copies. How do they calculate that?

Nevada, you seem to forget that Taylor also wrote Hell of A Day. So, that wasn’t figured into his royalties. I perfectly understand the royalties paid, but…

What you seem not to comprehend is that Hell of a Day wasn’t on the CD I bought OR in the track listings of reviews I’ve seen which list songwriting credits.

I have no way of knowing whether or not Hell of a Day was on 10% of the CDs pressed or 50% of the CDs pressed or more.

Is Hell of a Day a bonus track on some CDs but not others? If so, he’ll get an addition $0.0455 cents in mechanical royalties for those CDs with that bonus track. Clearly, not all 640,064 CDs sold have Hell of a Day as a track, or it would be on the CD I bought.

In order to calculate a different mechanical royalty rate, you would need to know how many of the 640,064 CDs included Hell of a Day.

Or was Hell of a Day only available as a digital download? Royalty rates for digital downloads of individual tracks are calculated differently than for CDs; songwriters do not earn royalties on individual tracks but performers do.

I have seen NO sales numbers for Hell of a Day as an individual track, but if it is sold that way, Taylor would earn $0.0405 per download.

    Happy now?

For however many CDs included Hell of a Day, he would be earning an additional $0.0455 per CD sold, which would bring the total to $0.144083 per CD.

Of course, SoundScan does not report sales according to the vendor and it is impossible to calculate that adjustment without having that information.

During his audition was the only time I thought he sang well. And I’m a bitch physco enough that if Simon says they are more or less better then Taylor? Well not a chance in hell that I would vote for that person just because that’s just the sick twisted way that I am.

BTW, IN YOUR TIME, Taylor’s first CD started to sell at his concert venues yesterday. IYT Cds were $25. They were in a plastic sleeve, not a hard plastic jewel case and had a nice picture of Taylor. Last night was the first night available.

During the show last year, the CD In your Time was going for 300.00+ on EBay. And what is sad about that, I’m sure everyone of them sold past the first week were just bootlegs.
