The SF Gate is a pretty progressive music publication in the Bay area - it’s quite a compliment to Taylor, which the paper sees as a serious artist. You know how progressive they are in that area of the country, don’t you?
Thanks for posting that article, Griz. SF was my home for many years before moving to Canada. You are right, it’s an extremely progressive city and has been known as a haven for artists. It’s fantastic that the major paper (sfgate is ostensibly the online version of the SF Chronicle) gave Taylor such a positive and accurate write-up. I say “accurate” because, as Sexygirl alluded, the cd has sold a million to retailers. The certification process and the rules governing it preceded Taylor’s appearance on the scene. No special favors are being afforded him.
…More potential hits are in the works. The executive visiting them, Larry Jackson, senior vice president of A&R (artists and repertory) at J Records, confirmed that Ms. Hudson would be recording their song “Can’t Stop the Rain.” And the Stargate name is attached to many other “priority releases” — projects that record labels, managers and radio programmers are expecting to be the most popular and profitable.
“In the industry, their name recognition is as powerful as Timbaland’s,” said Jeff Rabhan, who manages Elliott Yamin, the “American Idol” alumnus whose self-titled new album has two Stargate tracks…
I just watched “DreamGirls” on DVD. No wonder Jennifer Hudson won an Academy Award. She was awesome. Somehow, I can hear LaKisha doing music like this. She has the chops. I don’t think she would sell well with a CD, but, believe she would be dynamite on Broadway, or in a movie musical.

Good morning, Lisa B :)
Good morning, Metta, Lisa. :) Metta, why are you up in these wee hours of the morning?

Morning, Purple! I have no idea why I’m up. I’m sure I’ll pay for it later in the day, when I start to fade, fade, fade.
Metta, better get your beauty rest then. You know JJ will surely take advantage otherwise. lol
Purple - Good point. Back to bed for me! Have a good day/night :)
Have a good day/night :)
It’s day (lazy Sunday afternoon, to be exact). Thanks. :)
Rest well, my friend. :)
