  • March 27 Top 10

  • May 22 Top 2
  • May 23 FINALE

There is also going to be a special “surprise” show mid-season.  TPTB are not giving up any details, but there is much speculation around the net about what it could be.  What are your thoughts?

Lastly, word is that the winner, Leona Lewis, of Simon Cowel’s British reality show X-factor will be appearing at some point on American Idol.  I dunno, I think the producers will have their hands full promoting the albums of the 4 Season 5 alums 19R signed last year.  Leona currently has a hit in the UK with Kelly Clarkson’s coronation single, “A Moment Like This”.

    MJ,

Ken also put this on his blog schedule that you didn’t put on yours “March 14 (9-9:30): Results, one finalist has a bad day (oops I mean goes ‘Home’ accompanied by the Daughtry song of the same name).”

Now I don’t know why Ken put this here. Maybe he just got it from an internet rumor or he has inside information thus he put it there.

    I am not sure…

Rickey.org is reporting that Leona will perform on the premiere.

I’ll miss “Bad Day” if it’s replaced. I mean, it’s not a great song, even Daniel Powter has said so, but it just fits right and it’s kind of sweet sounding.

Ten hours of auditions? Mind numbing. Only two hours of Hollywood Rounds? Haven’t they shown more of the HR in the past?

I agree SODF, 10 hours of auditions. UGHH.

Looks like the season starts Feb 13. I remember almost giving up on the show last year as the auditions were becoming such a drag.

    Jan. 23 (8-9): Memphis, TN

Not sure if this is the same for everyone around the country, but here in Colorado the show won’t start until 8:30pm due to the President’s State of Union Address. You should check TVguide.com to be sure…..

Dave, I don’t mind seeing a fair number of auditions, and I know the bad ones are popular with the audience, so there’s no getting away from them altogether. And it’s interesting to try to spot the future finalists as they appear among all the deluded types.

But the avalanche of lousy singing takes a toll after a while. I’m amused for the first few hours. Ten is just too much. I’m still hoping this schedule is a misprint.

The Hollywood Rounds, on the other hand, are always interesting, IMO. Ken Barnes at Idol Chatter says the ratings decline during the HR. Don’t know why - those shows are always a relief after the auditions, and there’s usually plenty of trumped up drama….

good lord thats alot of shows! Are we all really going to commit this much time to a TV show? Inquiring minds want to know…

    More Hollywood rounds, please.

Anyone think they keep the Hollywood rounds short so we won’t know just how bad the judges’ picks are? Who hasn’t scratched their head at some of the picks every single year?

I love that they’re doing another “Rest of the Best” audition show. I believe the last time they did that was Season 3, when we had the chance to first see the star that was and is Jennifer Hudson!

Oh, and hooray for 30-minute results shows! (well, at least one of them…)
