You know, after all my whining about “let’s get on with it” etc., I actually enjoyed last night. Probably because the BIG girls put such a smile on my face. I was expecting bad singing, but we got — vocal TALENT in spades! Wow! Both of them were just a joy to watch and I suspect knowing them might be a laugh a minute. They really could deliver a song. No question.

The other fun thing was seeing the little mini divas get the air removed from their balloons of self-importance. Shannon and Julie. Whoosh! I liked how it was handled last night for both of them. I got a big chuckle out of the whole American Juniors “stah.” I swear, you could knock on her head and hear an echo. And to Julie … welcome back to the world of “meat handling”!!!

Boy Band-to-Rock Poser boy was, well, I have to say I found him charming. A real cutie, even if he is so fake he makes plastic look like 100 year old fine furniture. I think he will be fun to watch and he does have a voice.

Sawry, but I thought the nose singing Mr. Valles, sounded exactly like that twerp who sings lead in Rascal Flatts. But, then, my feelings towards RF are pretty, well, flatt.

This was by far for me the most entertaining of the tryout shows.

Bean, I’m pretty sure it is the week after next. Next week is Atlanta and the “Best of the Rest”, I think. Then it should be Hollywood.

I liked the former boyband turned rocker guy too. I’m still f/f through the shows so don’t see much but do find the judges nicer. I think sometimes they’re putting people through that they wouldn’t normally. I would have bet money that the Ryan sandwich girls wouldn’t be good but they were. I’ve never yet picked anyone in the auditions that I’d like throughout the show and this season is no different. I’m waiting anxiously for Hollywood week. Is it soon?

I literally held my ears shut when Syesha sang. It was so loud and screechy that it hurt. I don’t like singing/yelling like that. I loved her personlity though.

I liked Ramielle very much. She was a bit loud too but the tone was much better.

Everyone that I’m interested in didn’t crack the top 24. I could really root for Michael Johns but the “story” about him kinda bugs.

Wow, I’m glad Ramielle sounds better than her myspace music initially led me to believe. If she keeps singing that well (or better), I will definitely be proudly rooting for her. I also like that she is apparently proud to be Filipino-American (she certainly isn’t hiding it) and that she seems to know how to speak our language (it’s Malubay, Simon, lol). She’s also cute, albeit maybe a little what we call here “maarte” (loosely, bratty-”ish”). Based on that audition, I already like her better than I ever liked Jasmine Trias (which really isn’t saying much, as I never really warmed up to her and have always preferred Camile Velasco, anyway). Heh.

I also liked Robbie and I wasn’t really expecting to. The BFFs I really enjoyed, too. Not quite Paris B., but very, very nice.

I wasn’t blown away by Syesha, either, but I think she is very pretty and stood and moved like a winner. She actually reminded me of Kelly Clarkson on the latter’s audition, for some reason, which kinda surprised me. Heh.

I thought Syesha was beautiful (as did my husband) and did a great job of representing herself, but her singing- not so much. I can easily picture her making it to the top twelve and then get panned for being screechy or pitchy. I think she can go far, but she isn’t an actual contender for the win. Of course, we’ll see…

I LOVED the confidence of the “twins!” They were so funny! I agree though that they probably won’t go too far. This season seems to really be about finding artists that can sell.

Good thing is that there seem to be a lot of great singers this year. Hopefully, no one will make our ears bleed this year in the Top 24. (Or is that inevitable?)

The bad thing is that some really talented and interesting singers, that are not as marketable, will never make it near the vote.

Preston, I find I actually enjoy the season a lot more if I don’t have a super-best-favorite. Mainly because my favorite is usually the one that Simon hates and that’s never a lot of fun. I don’t have a favorite either, so I think I am hoping I won’t need my blood pressure medicine this year.

I figure “the blondes” cancel out and that leaves us with some pretty interesting guys.

I really liked Ramielle Malubay’s voice. I kept thinking how fun it would be to see her standing next to Jordin as Season 7’s winner. Talk about Mutt and Jeff!

No one has really grabbed me this season like Melinda, Taylor, Paris, etc. in the past. Not that I mind; I may enjoy the season more as the contestants grow and perform on the big stage.

I liked Syesha a lot. She’s probably my favorite of the women we’ve seen so far. I also liked Robbie, but not as much as I’ve liked Michael Johns, David Cook, Colton, and Drew.

Yawn… I wasn’t totally thrilled with Syesha “The One,” but thought Robbie, former Britney BF, was pretty good. I didn’t want to like him, but I did. Liked Suzanne Toon too. I agree Mandisa X2 is doomed.

Mandisa X2 won’t make it to the final 24. I hate to think like that, but honestly, weighty people have a hard time getting record contracts I don’t care how good they are.

Mandisa is in gospel, not pop.

I have a feeling the “pros” know how to survive Hollywood Week because they’ve been in the business. If the non-pros don’t know how to navigate they will get ate up.

Julie Dubela — what a hoot! She was a cutie on American Juniors and she needs more experience really, but she’s another one — couldn’t understand “no.” Simon gave her good advice, she’s really an actress at heart.

I liked Toon the single mom, Mercado with the druggie dad, and a couple of other blonds. They were really good.

I liked this show — bring on Hollywood Week and let’s see who survives!
