I’m…almost wishing he’d asked Lacey out. I love Kim and all (oh, sue me), but yeah, he can do MUCH better than her.

  2. 152 mocha May 21st, 2008 at 7:34 pm

So Brooke is doing a different song tonight. Cook is singing with ZZTop, we don’t know what song yet. Makes the Hallelujah reprise solo even more interesting. (Or did the producers think he couldn’t remember the lyrics to a new song??

  3. 153 coco May 21st, 2008 at 7:35 pm

OK…….cook just made me question his sanity!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. 154 mocha May 21st, 2008 at 7:35 pm

Hopefully CD asked Kimberly out just to be a nice guy and to play up for the media/cameras. He is one smart Cookie. I wouldn’t be too concerned about her, and there will be more “dates” in the future, with other attractive females, so get ready.

    ***Spoiler***
Archie is singing with One Republic per Tyson at IDF.

LOL BACKTRACK BACKTRACK. Simon and Randy are saying they’d call it a draw now! They are calling a sympathy win for Cookie!

  7. 157 grrrr May 21st, 2008 at 7:41 pm

So, a little revision from Simon and Randy, about stuff sounding much different on tv, and maybe it being a draw with an advantage for “the other guy.”

    Stupid, sexy optimism. Grrr.

  8. 158 Duke May 21st, 2008 at 7:41 pm

Anyone just see the TVGuide redcarpet- Simon Cowell just said he takes back calling it a Knockout because the acoustics were different in the studio than watching it back. He says now it was DEAD EVEN- I think that means Cook is gunna win.

  9. 159 Bobbi May 21st, 2008 at 7:42 pm

Nigel could be referring to Neil Diamond as the biggest star in the world “right now” which he has emphasized every time I heard him say it. His new album has gone to #1 both here and in England. Would be easy since he was probably going to be there anyway!

  10. 160 manny May 21st, 2008 at 7:42 pm

Simon always gives it away! WooHoo

  11. 161 grayhound May 21st, 2008 at 7:43 pm

Not only what you all said above, but Simon said it may have backfired against Archie because it riled up the fans!

OH MY GOD - stomp on DC last nite and then put him back together tonite.

  12. 162 Duke May 21st, 2008 at 7:43 pm

Wow- i deff just did a 180 on who i thought was gunna win.

Double wow for Janice Dickinson. hahaha…”the other guy, what’s his name”

  13. 163 St.Lucia May 21st, 2008 at 7:44 pm

WOW. Are they backpeddling or WHAT?

I don’t want to do the Cookie has it in the bag dance quite yet, but I’m pretty antsy.

Oh, believe me, I know. :) But like coco said, that just makes me question his sanity… AND his taste. Yikes.

LOL BACKTRACK BACKTRACK. Simon and Randy are saying they’d call it a draw now! They are calling a sympathy win for Cookie!

BWAH!! I love it. Regardless of whether Cook wins, I just love making them have to eat. their. effing. words.

ETA: So, DC singing with ZZ Top and Archie singing with OneRepublic? Are they trying to make people believe that Archie can *actually* be current? LOL.

  15. 165 grayhound May 21st, 2008 at 7:46 pm

I don’t think it necessarily means anything about who’s gonna win. Do P R & S know who the winner is? Or do they find out when Ryan reveals??

  16. 166 Duke May 21st, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Well- this WAS the most anticipated moment of the season…thanks cowell.

aparently only the phone guy & i think nigel/ken know…but who knows.

  18. 168 Stefunny May 21st, 2008 at 7:50 pm

That will be a nice song for Brooke although maybe a little more flower-child than I would like. Still, I’ll be eager to see her again. Wonder who Syesha gets to duet with? And what song? If it’s Broadway-esque maybe someone from a current ALW musical. Is there any current or new ALW musical out now?

  19. 169 lurksalot May 21st, 2008 at 7:52 pm

I heard it was ZZ Top and Cookie singing Tush.

  20. 170 gumby May 21st, 2008 at 8:01 pm

ZZ Top???? Who in the world dreamed up that unlikely pairing??? Gah!!

ETA: OK, singing “Tush”–I just changed my mind. That song is mad sexy.

  21. 171 PrplDva May 21st, 2008 at 8:02 pm

    ZZ Top, REALLY? REALLY?

What you talking about?- they charted over 40 singles, sold more than 25 million records and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    ZZ rawks!

  22. 172 Lisa May 21st, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Yep, they are trying to take that train loaded down with Semi’s off DC’s back now. So now Simon you think we might have been a tad miffed? eh. JUST. A TAD.

My moment last night came from all the love of the Jason, Michael, Carly, Syesha, Rami fans (sorry if I missed some) rushing onto the AI boards expressing their anger and helping us vote like mad for DC.

    Thank you.

  23. 173 Trina May 21st, 2008 at 8:07 pm

They DO know the votes. They did the same exact thing in season 2. Simon was calling Clay the winner all morning in the media, then he found out later Ruben won and he switched his prediction on the red carpet.

  24. 174 blissful May 21st, 2008 at 8:10 pm

I didn’t see the backpedaling comments (!!!), but are they suggesting that Cookie may be getting a sympathy win?? Is it me or is that rather insulting?

If people were enraged enough to vote (like me), then it was because we believed he sang better than the judges’ critiques.

If the sound is so bad, why can’t they wear those ear monitors?

  25. 175 blissful May 21st, 2008 at 8:15 pm

Interesting….they just posted a transcript of the mini interview with Randy and Simon at TWoP. What a complete 180. This is way too much drama for me…

  26. 176 Colleen May 21st, 2008 at 8:17 pm

Is Simon going to take credit for DC win by changing his comments now?
Wouldn’t put it past him to say he is responsible for DC winning.
Because………(insert his smug, mug look) if he hadn’t made the negative comments, DC’s fans would not have voted so much and he wouldn’t have won. So, he caused the stir and is singlehandedly responsible for DC’s winning votes.
Yep, Simon can spin this whole thing around and save the day for himself.
If DC wins, I’ll be chearing the loudest!!!
    Go Cookie!!

  27. 177 Kirsten May 21st, 2008 at 8:25 pm

Well, that might count as a win for Simon, but it’s hardly the best press for Cookie. Simon is essentially saying that Cookie won because I said the other guy was so much better. I mean, you still get to be American Idol, but you would be known as the guy who won by being called bad. Hopefully, the press would be nicer than that.

TPTB always win. Contestants, not so much.

  28. 178 gumby May 21st, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Oh God. I don’t want to hear about Kimberly travelling around on the Idol tour bus this summer! (Elliott fans will get that. ;-))

Before I get a warning from MJ, I’ll switch topics to the subject at hand. Just watched a version of Tush with Kid Rock and ZZ Top and it was a “hot lava bomb”. The crowd was going crazy!!! So keeping my fingers crossed that tonight’s version has potential to be great TV.

  29. 179 Colleen May 21st, 2008 at 8:31 pm

    Kristin,
    I agree completely. It sucks!
It was hurtful to both contestants.
Neither David deserved to be treated this way.

  30. 180 dulce May 21st, 2008 at 8:43 pm

But if you pay attention to the comments last night, Cookie got pretty good ones, just not OTT like Archie. Cook never got the “you were out of your league” aka. The Castro edit. He was never told that he sounded poorly. The only thing he was called on was song choice. That was it.

It’s not like Cook will walk away the undeserving winner. No. He is deserving and I’m about 90% sure someone will say this tonight on live television point blank. Remember that as of 24 hours ago, Cook was considered the favorite to win. Media may have towed the company line and as I’ve seen on the red carpet, so did the majority of the tone deaf “stars” they spoke to. But bottom line, Cook never lost his sheen as a talented contestant and deserved his place. He wasn’t disgraced. His only crime was not delivering the moment people voted him into the finale for.

Regardless, the winner will have their “moment” tonight under a shower of confetti. It’s not going to be as tarnished as some people might think.

BTW, I don’t think they were saying that Cook/whoever is going to win because of sympathy. No. They called the night a draw. Simon said Archie’s Imagine was not good (it wasn’t..I thought I was taking crazy pills or something). Simon even gave the edge to Cook. He just said that his OTT comments may have helped Cook even more. But in no way did anyone ever say that Cook sucked.

  31. 181 Bobbi May 22nd, 2008 at 7:27 am

Simon was obnoxious Tuesday night and whether or not he knew the results last night beforehand, I was glad he apologized. Cookie deserved that because Simon seriously was over the top on Tuesday. Whatever Simon’s motivation, he made the right gesture last night.
