Season 7 Schedule

The television schedule for American Idol Season 7 has been released, and you can check it out after the jump.  I also have it posted under the Historical Charts tab–for easy reference!  I’ll be updating the schedule as more info becomes available.

The schedule hasn’t changed significantly from last year.  There will be 4 weeks/10 hours worth of auditions. If I weren’t recapping the episodes, (ugh) I’d record the auditions and skip through the boring parts.  However, Idol delivers BIG numbers to FOX during the audition phase, so I’m not surprised that the time devoted to the deluded and the off-key is staying as is.

Also, Nigel Lythgoe mentioned in a recent interview that the results show would air on a Thursday during the week Idol Gives Back airs.  That bit of info is reflected in the schedule.

Ugh..only one episode of Hollywood week?

I predict the Clark Brothers to come on and do a guest performance on May 7th or 14th, with a debut of their first release! Go Clark Brothers. I figure this gives them enough time to make their cd - 4 full months - with a couple of originals from NGAB and maybe a cover from there too!
February 13th is a long time to wait for the real news(top 24!)

Hollywood week should at least be FOUR hours, over the course of four days: two Mondays and two Tuesdays. That way, we can get a good glimpse at the decent singers without them having been crammed down our throats….which is why it should be spread out like I mentioned.

TPTB just don’t listen or care what we think! I agree with Tony. It seems a lot goes on and we don’t know a thing about it (in Hollywood)! Boo booooooooo.

Way too many episodes of auditions and not enough of Hollywood week. :sad_tb:

The problem is that while Idol fans don’t really like (or loathe) bad auditions, it seems the pundits and general public can’t get enough of them.

The downside of that strategy is that it is the real Idol fans that vote for the contestants, and it is always the real Idol fans that support them after Idol.

I think Hollywood should be at least 4 hours, but that can be made easier by dumping the boring chair episode, and making the announcements in the rooms like they used to. That frees up 1 to 2 hours to add an episode right there…

If they REALLY wanted to show so many bad auditions, it would have been better to air 3 nights a week in the early weeks to allow more time to show others.

I want more Hollywood week, too. I much prefer that to bad auditions.

I remember that this was also the general sentiment here last year: give us less of the bad auditions and more of Hollywood week! TPTB didn’t listen then. I guess we’re going to be disappointed again this time… :(

I agree with all of you, less bad auditions and more of Hollywood week.

Interestingly enough though when talking to my parents over the holidays about AI (they started watching last year) my Dad shared how much he loves the auditions (I was shocked and horrified)and thinks they are so funny. I, of course, just shook my head and said “it is people like you that encourage the producers on giving us all the bad auditions upfront.” LOL
