Okay, all FOX news had to say was that Paula had some martinis at lunch and thought that could have been a few too many.

"Jason Castro-Special Needs Idol!" LOL That was funny.

"While Jason performs this dreck reasonably well, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s true that the light seems to have gone out of his eyes."

I think you're right. He looked dejected and I don't blame him. I hope he gets a chance to redeem himself next week. I feel sorry for the way he was treated and I hope Paula has apologized to him. That's the least she can do. I heard her on Ryan's radio show this morning and it was all about her and trying to explain her predicament. I never heard an apology to Jason. Hopefully, she did it in private. David Cook is my favorite, but I like Jason, too.

I have known since season 5 that the show is scripted but became aware of the pimping in Season 2. Carmen and other contestants have been told what to say, and that certain contestants get more attention than others. Yet, I have continue to enjoy the show, and then yell at that TV set when the manipulation takes place. However, there is no excuse for what Paula did to Jason last night. There must be a formal apology to him.

I think his fans saved him and there is NO need to adjust the votes. I thought his performance in FIBJ was fine, but Jason's heart just was not in his second number. Poor guy, I wanted to give him a hug.

I like the idea of Kimberly Locke as a judge. I also think Sheila E. would be good. Paula HAS to be replaced.

MJ, I appreciate your article and opinion on this matter!

Cook is on another level. He's just incredible. He and Jason have my heart and I split my votes between them. I'm hoping for great things for both of them.

You sound a tad irritated in the review, MJ, but I can't blame you. I'd probably have done so, too. I think that was probably one of the worst nights of Idol, ever.

It's so obvious that TPTB want the Davids in the finale at this point. They wouldn't have gotten those extreme tonguebaths otherwise. Although IMO, Archie sucked on both songs.

Simon echoes what he told Kristy Lee when she pulled the patriotic card, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“That was a smart choice.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Simon never comments on his vocal performance.

Goddamnit, I was so pissed when he just said it was a "smart choice blah blah blah check check *insert extraneous crap here*"! I mean, hypocrisy much? Simon's always the one who keeps saying that this is "a singing competition". And even though it really isn't, it still annoys me to no end how hypocritical and annoying the judges can be.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d love to know where that DJ got his info from out of curiosity.

I am not sure since I didn't actually hear it, my coworker did, but I seriously hope it is just a silly rumor someone saw on a less reputable Idol site than this one and carelessly reported it...

I have no clue who will go tonight but don't think it will be David Cook. My best guess is Jason.

I have really really enjoyed Idol this year but last night left me cold. The way they play with the idols and the inequity makes me ill.

I really thought I was watching just for enjoyment this year, but I think I am way more invested than I thought. In my fantasy - I imagine the finale with David C vs Jason - both singing their hearts out- and DC winning. But I agree with others here - TPTB deserve Archie. But I won't be watching or voting.

I think Simon saved Syeshaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.intentionally. Reverse pyschology so to speak. To get her fans and the casual voter stirred up.

I completely agree that he did that on purpose. He knows EXACTLY what happens when he does that. But, I'm not sure if he was doing it to enable Jason's ouster or Brooke's. Who knows, maybe Simon is as sick of Archie as I am lol.

I honestly hope that is not true about no eliminations. That makes no sense to me. That would be so stupid. That would be torture to do that to all of the remaining 5 honestly. I'd love to know where that DJ got his info from out of curiosity.

Has there been any word from Nigel today?

I hope the rumor about no elimination is wrong for one reason and one reason only. Ten songs in one hour FAILED. Why do it again? Just apologize to Jason, acknowledge your dire unprofessionalism and get on with the crowning of your favorite David. (Was I the only one who noticed that David C himself looked slightly disgusted with the judges pimping of him last night? I swear he grimaced when Paula said she was looking at the "next American Idol.")

I hate this show right now. I want the biggest, cheesiest pointiest pose ever tonight. If these kids come out and sing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" as a chorus while gathered around a piano, I'm going to lose it.

Add another Castro fan to the oneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s who hope that if he really got the lowest number of votes, let him go. Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t drag it out and make next week a double elimination. Whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the point?
ETA: I do hope that, either way, some sort of apology is made to Jason, or at least an acknowledgement that it must have been difficult for him to sing his second song given that it had already been reviewed.

I agree. Give him a nice boot, or allow him to stay without making it seem like he's staying undeservingly.

I don't agree that Simon doesn't like Jason. I actually think Simon does like him. He has given him far better comments on his outstanding performances than either Randy or Paula. I love Jason, but I don't have a problem with the judges criticizing him IF it's deserved. Simon has, generally, been very kind to Jason.

Brooke may very likely have gotten the least amount of votes. If there are no eliminations, it could be her saving grace.

If any of this is true, then I would be happy as a babblin' Brooke fan b/c then with next week's theme, she could finally do something that is not restrictive (hopefully).

I find, too, that judging the contestants off their actual vocal recordings is so much better with the live performance stresses removed. I think Castro is pretty wooden and lifeless as a performer but his Memory studio version was just beautiful and while I thought David Cook did fabulous on Music of the Night, the studio version left me cold. Too bad that isn't taken into consideration during the judging process.

Very convenient. I hope if Jason has the lowest number of votes, they let him go tonight by himself. Uggh.

Yeah, I agree. If he had the lowest amount of votes, he should leave. Why torture him for another week?

Another thing: Brooke may very likely have gotten the least amount of votes. If there are no eliminations, it could be her saving grace. Uguh. The girl has nine lives like KLC. Except, KLC improved.

Another thing: Brooke may very likely have gotten the least amount of votes. If there are no eliminations, it could be her saving grace. Uguh. The girl has nine lives like KLC. Except, KLC improved.

First time poster here, although I've lurked for quite awhile.

First, I'd like to say, MJ, I think you write great re-caps. Better than alot of the professional ones. I always look forward to your take on things.

Second, it occured to me this morning. I wonder if what happened with Paula was intentional. The producers of AI are so manipulative. Maybe this is their way of stirring up controversy, and trying to boost ratings.

It sure seemed like a spontaneous gaffe, but.....just a thought.

Just watch, they will let a question get thru on their stupid question and answer session that asks Paula to explain herself or Ryan, for her

That leaves them with the Davids and Brooke in the final three. Oh what a coincidence! This happens to be what the judges predicted on Larry King Live.

I think Kimberley Locke should replace Paula as judge. She always chose the right song and the right key, and understands the process- and she's highly intelligent, so I think she would be much better than blabbering Paula.

Syesha had two very good, consistent performances. I really like her lower register. Sometimes she is screechy in her upper register, but she has gotten better each week and more comortable. She is very pretty and talented. I want to see her in the final 3.

David C had a good second song, but I didn't like his first one very much.

Archuletta sounded really breathy and gaspy on both songs. It was a no-go for me. Simon wants him in the finals.

Jason C- I liked Forever in Blue Jeans, but the second song was not good. He could have done a lot more with Neil Diamond Week. Red, Red Wine! Hello Jason.

Brooke White- Please go home. I'm a Believer was absolutely ghastly. She does not have much range at all and it showed in her second song.

Bottom two will be: Syesha and Brooke

Bottom two should be: Brooke and Jason

Who will go home: Syesha

Who should go home: Brooke

Great recap MJ- Simon is really trying to throw Syesha under the bus. Black singers on idol never make much money in record sales, and he's afraid of having to sign a Syesha rather than a Jason or David. Each season of idol that goes on, we are able to see more and more of the manipulations. I'm afraid that will do it in eventually.

To Mr RJ

Mrs Castro, you might want tp go to Youtube and listen to the Studio version of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Music of the Nightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ and also relisten to the live version. You might be amazed. This is a guy who deserved all the praise in the world. Even the current star of Phantom was blown away!!!!!!!!!

The studio version of Memory is so touching and lovely too - you dont have to be BLOWN away to feel the music always but I LOVE all of Jasons studio recordings and SOTR has been viewed way over a million times already too. and dont get mad I like David C too - someone earlier was chastising the dc/jc lovers and I cant help it if I like both??

Me too. That idea is idiotic. It would be like TPTB saying that Jason has the lowest number of votes, but weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re letting him stay to cover our asses. Obviously, if he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have the lowest number of votes, there would be no reason to do that. Ick.

I completely agree. Knowing Idol, they would probably use this to their advantage: with double eliminations next week, Jason will be a lock to go home just because of demographics. If they're lucky, Syesha will go with him.

That leaves them with the Davids and Brooke in the final three. Oh what a coincidence! This happens to be what the judges predicted on Larry King Live.

Mj - you is good! I agree with the review but the part that was a snap moment was I thought exactly the same thing about Syesha and ITTLFTN. When I watched the clip I thought it was kinda like a Martha and the Vandellas motown thing. Interesting you got the same vibe. That was one of my favourite songs as a teen so I know the song well.

Yea, you're good!

LOL, mj. Thanks for the recap; it was well written. I'm sure it wasn't meant to made me laugh, but the way you interjected your emotions- er, anger- into that post was flawless.

You were in the zone, heh.
