Everyone needs to quit making excuses for Amanda. The woman had a DUI, remember. Maybe she's just not a nice person. She sure comes across like a miserable, vacant, self-centered beeyotch. She can't get booted soon enough for me.

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the nurse in her dude. Nurses, having to look at sick, injured and dying people everyday, get to become a stoic lot. If you get too emotionally involved with the life and death of your patients, youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll become a wreck by the time you reach 30. Amanda, being a nurse, has come to learn to take it as they come.

oh man did you hit the nail on the head. I think I love you! Been too slow to post this but that sums it up. I was a nurse. And you get to learn priorities. How many of you here have held someone's hand while they die? Tried to fight for someone's life and they die? Just know you can't do anything to save someone? It kills you inside. You have to learn to shut it off or you can't cope. We all learned to shut it off. Doesn't mean we don't feel it, just have to deal with it in a different way. So at the end of the day this is a singing contest. She's dealt with worse than criticism from Simon Cowell. I think Amanda is in an alternate universe right now and finding it hard. Superficial manipulated fame versus life and death. It's probably all a bit surreal for her. I don't think she is unemotional at all! She is protecting herself with the coping mechanisms we all learned.

juli, you need to post more often. Free yourself !

I agree, Danny is a brat. Amanda, yep, I could see that maybe there's some arrogance there. Or maybe she's stubborn. Or maybe she has low self esteem but, in the South, they'd say rude.

I'm surprised how many people really like Brooke. It's not that I don't like her but she doesn't inspire any feelings in me when I hear her sing. It's nice but that's about it. I'm having trouble with the girls this season. Against my will I've come to like Carly the best. Amanda needs to stay longer so we're not subjected mainly to Whitney songs. Syesha, Ramiele, and Asia'h have disappointed me in their song choices and Kady/Kristy both need to be gone now. At least Brooke is different so I'd like her to stay a little longer.

Kady needs to go because she messed up one of my favorite Queen songs. The one and only time that I loved Kat McPhee was on Queen night. IMO, she was amazing singing "Who Wants To Live Forever".

Mostly a lurker but just feel the need to post.

Amanda - don't get her at all. Talk about a spoiled brat act last night. Rude is what I would label her as. I don't care if you are a nurse and you have to distant yourself and not show emotion! I don't care if you don't like the song choice you were given. Good Lord girl you are in a spot that 1000 of girls would have killed for! Stop acting like a spoiled brat and get over yourself! I really hope she goes home tonight - her attitude alone was enough for me not to vote for her! A thank you last night from her would have been enough!

Danny N - that boy (and he is a boy) needs to get over himself. The act (if it is an act) needs to go. It's inmature and not entertaining at all. He took a really good song from the 80's Tainted Love and RUINED IT!!!

David H, David A and a few of the other guys were thoroughly entertaining Tuesday evening. The girl's last night were a little on the boring side - no one really did an excellent job!

I've said my peace - I feel better now. The 2 spoiled ones need to go!!! I doubt America will agree with me - I seem to fall in the older voting group :-)

It was already stated.

If a plant(reocord argeement) takes a place of a non-plant eventhough the other sang better is it fair?
It happened with Aliania to some degree no.

I think Kady and Kristy will go tonight. But it would not surprize me if Syesha or Ramielle got booted. Kristy made the fatal mistake of wearing a white body hiding top that made her face look like it was caked with makeup. Melissa McGee made that same mistake the week she was booted.

Ramielle looked helpless last night. She did not choose a good song, she dressed down, and whatever she did with her hair did not work. She knew something wasn't right, but I think people will vote for her just because she was so pathetic and she was really good two weeks ago.

I am one of the few who saw "The One" and I remember Syesha as being a good singer but boring. She seems to be doing the same thing at Idol. I do not like her song choices at all. I wish she would do something like she did in Hollywood, but time is running out for her.

9) Thou shalt give Ryan a contract extension and a huge raise. No matter what you think of him personally, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the best since Dick Clark. Or maybe even better (I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe I said that :)

I agree! Ryan is terrific! (Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not hard to look at either!)

My sister would like to join you. LOL Everytime I try to show her a youtube clip of maybe Jason or Luke or Ramiele or Brooke and Ryan shows up on the screen, she goes, "Oh, look! My Ryan is cuter." He is mainly why she watches the show. Heh.

I absolutely love Amanda. I like Brooke a lot, I adore Danny's attitude and like David A's smooth gorgeous voice. Im so freaking happy that I love/like so many this year. I tune in just to see these guys, they give me that bang Im looking for in one way or another. They are anything but forgettable or ordinary IMO. I voted for the first time in a very long time last night...for Amanda.

Without these 4 (again, IMHO) I doubt I would give a rats ass.

When I see Amanda or I try to figure her out I see a woman who doesnt want to be changed. She is who she is and doesnt want to bow under the direction of TPTB or doesnt want to give up her identity. I think to that end, at THIS point in the competition, she maybe feels like fuck it. Its not worth it but as she gets closer to the prize I bet she might allow them to fiddle with her looks maybe but not how she sings. I have a feeling we havent even seen anything close to what this woman has to offer. I think she is gonna knock us out soon.

Brooke - best of the night. The only one besides Amanda that shows some semblance of a musical identity. Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a musician, and it shows

I agree, Brooke is the real deal. Those two were the only two standouts for me. I like Asia'h too but it seems like her voice is strained. I hope for a breakout performance from her.

I missed seeing Carly, but did see the ending interview. Observation - the tatt-sleeved arms need some serious toning up.

CONTROVERSIAL STAEMENT ALERT:

One thing about Danny - and I love him by the way - sometimes I wonder if the whole over-the-top flamer thing annoys gay people the way the behavior of someone like Flava Flav can annoy black people (I'm african-american). I know I HATE when some idiot pops up on my TV acting out every ridiculous black stereotype in existence, even though I know that not all non-black people are even looking at the offending party that way. So as much as I get a kick out of Danny - I think he's got hilarious comebacks, and I like that he's not afraid to be so out there, is there a community of gay people out there that roll their eyes when he's on the screen? Things to think about - hmm....

I actually don't find Danny very interesting or entertaining.
I thought Kelly Pickler did her dumb blonde things in a fresher way than he's doing his "sassy" diva bit. Plus Kelly had the benefit of a great back story and she always seemed thrilled and grateful to be there. Danny puts out a more sour, petulant vibe (to me anyway).

Danny needs to stick around for the same reason Kellie P. did in S5. (Susieà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s S7 mantra: I will be entertained, I will be entertained) Exhibiting certain à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“mannerismsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ , as you say, has nothing to do with it IMO.

Sue I totally agree with you... I would like Danny to stay...he is interesting, entertaining, and can sing.

I think tonight is the night for a "shocking" boot. I hope I'm wrong.

Asia'h - Did ok with a song that is the corniest of the corn-fest that is the corntastic eighties. She was very peppy, and her voice sounded good. But it was very cheerleader-does-karaokee to me.

Kady - Who? She did sound better tonoght, but I really don't care.

Amanda - sounded great. But will that be enough? She's a pretty polarizing contestant, people either love or hate her. And she had 2 bad performances in a row before tonight. We'll see. VFTW to the rescue!

Carly - She needs to stop shouting at me. But she sounded good.

Kristy - I hate her. She sucks. She's being carriesd right now solely on pimping and looks. Please let this chick go home already.

Ramielle - BORING SONG. Why, Ramielle? You can sing! You need to pick better songs. She's another one who seems like she spent way to many nights at the Karaoke bar.

Brooke - best of the night. The only one besides Amanda that shows some semblance of a musical identity. She's a musician, and it shows.

Syesha - her personality was putting me off until I realized she was an actress. Almost every actress I know acts like that. "Look at ME! I do overdramatic poses for the camera! Look at my wacky face! My surprised face! My scared face! Drama!" LOL. She needs to stop yelling at me too. She sounded off to me.

Should go home: Kady, Kristy
Will go home: I would not be surprised if Amanda, Ramielle or Syesha went home instead.

The morning after, the only girls whose performances left any kind of impression as stand-outs to me are Brooke and Amanda. That's not to say the others weren't competent because all of them were.

Well, that's not quite true. Kady's performance was plodding. I couldn't even figure out what she was singing.

I just think they've mostly been a mush of predictable and consistent with nothing fresh and new.

I liked Brooke the best last night. She sang that song in a totally different style and made it her own and "relevant" at least to the Adult Alternative radio format. I think that's what Simon sees. Brooke is the kind of female singer I tend to like, so it works for me.

Amanda adds some spark to the season's girls. She's one of the weaker vocalists in certain respects or tends to be... indulgent, but she's entertaining and I think will add something to the top 12. I expect the PTB want her on the tour and she'll be around until #10 at least.

Kristy was wise to countrify her song. There is a part of the AI audience that loves country music and there have been no real country singers so far this season. That may save her this week. That's not to say she was one of the best this week. I agree she is forgettable - as a performer, although I'll bet she has her fanboys just for her looks (so does Kady undoubtedly).

Carly, Syesha, Asiah and Ramiele are good, consistent singers (putting aside illness that some of them have endured). Not one of them has done a stunning, mind-blowing performance. They've been consistent, but meh.

If I had to guess, I'd say the PTB want Brooke to be the last (and only) blonde in the final 12. I'm not sure who they would prefer among the r&b singers. They lavish both Sayesha and Asiah with more praise than either deserves, (and undersold Alex who I liked the best of the three). Assuming both of them survive, we'll see next week.

Just my two cents worth.

ETA:

If I could pick 2 guys and 2 girls to kick off, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d pick Amanda, Paula, Randy, and Simon.

Heh. Well I disagree about Amanda... and Simon, but the judges last night just annoyed me more than usual last night. They basically shortchanged Sayesha because they blathered on and on and on during the show and ran out of time. It's supposed to be about the performers not all.about.them. Ugh.

So because she's a nurse, she has no emotion. What would happen if she wons the lottery? which is what American Idol is.

She does seem unhappy to be up there but I'm not a psychologist so I couldn't tell you why. Ultimately, she's a one trick pony who doesn't sound that different from many rock wannabees. She's nothing great or remotely original. She just breaks up the monotony from Asia'h, Rami, etc.

RE:

I totally loved Amanda this week!

She cracks me up though. She has NO emotion. not happy. not sad. She just stands there and takes it. It is definitely different when Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m SO used to seeing the EXACT opposite. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think that is her being disrespectful, i think that is just how Amanda is. how can you not like her?

It's the nurse in her dude. Nurses, having to look at sick, injured and dying people everyday, get to become a stoic lot. If you get too emotionally involved with the life and death of your patients, you'll become a wreck by the time you reach 30. Amanda, being a nurse, has come to learn to take it as they come.

I thought about that too, Bobbi. Amanda has every reason to smile - she made that crappy song listenable and has a great entertainment style. She's the type of rock chick the music industry needs more of. Last night was the first time that I felt compelled enough to vote, but never could get a vote in - busy the entire time. So, yay! :)

Kady will surely go home tonight, but wished it was Kristy instead.

I noticed that Ryan made sure he pointed out that Kristy was sick. Why didn't he do that last week when it was clear that Amanda had something going on? Maybe he likes the blondes or is afraid of Amanda.

I'm hoping for 2 blondes to go tonight. Kady and Kristy are the least interesting (Kady has a good personality but only off stage) and least talented singers left imo. I have a feeling that Kristy will stick around although I have no idea why.

General Thoughts
----------------

1. These are some boring emberassing stories. Does the show really expect anybody to dish on anything really good?

2. Paula is rambling a lot tonight. She must be freaking Ryan out. How is he going to get this show to finish on time?

3. Paula and Simon are pretty close tonight. Maybe they should try listening to the singers instead of talking all the time?

4. Simon is self concious about doing the half-a-Bullwinkle so he picks at his hair instead. I start wondering if he has nits.

Individual Performances
------------------------

1. Asia'h - "I Want to Dance With Somebody" (Whitney Houston - 1987) This song has been the ruin of many an Idol (Jennifer Fuentes anybody?). Asia'h projects moods with her hair. When she has limp hair like last week, she has no energy. When her hair is curly, she's spunky. I thought she was pitchy and that her voice wasn't big enough. Randy names drop and all the judges make sure the audience know she should be in the final 12.

2. Kady - "Who Wants to Live Forever" (Queen - 1986) Ryan has secured an interview? Man, I bet that was tough. This is the first time in the competition that Kady has demonstrated that she can really sing. Lots of texture in her voice and a big vocal range. She does seem to have dead eyes when she sings. Does she focus on her singing so much that she doesn't connect with the audience? Judges are overly critical of her.

3. Amanda - "Hate Myself for Loving You" (Joan Jett - 1988) I can see Amanda burning down a pool. I'm glad that she told the hairdresser to "BACK-OFF" (I wonder if she cut him?). Oh, she's back. This is fun. She's a little self-concious, but she's getting into this song. She really needs a band on-stage to interact with. Good job. Great song choice. Judges want her to stay in her box.

4. Carly - "I Drove All Night" (Cyndi Lauper - 1989) - She does have a good voice, but I don't care for how she's flattened this song. It seems limp. Like she's singing it in a language she doesn't know. Did she pick this just for the glory notes? That's the only thing she seems to have spent any time on. Paula, Simon meant the "dog" thing is an insult. The judges tell us to put her in the final 12.

5. Kristy - "Faithfully" (Journey - 1983) - Turns this into a country song as Simon demanded. She showed more personality in the intro clip. She has no idea what to do with her body or her eyes when she sings. She has a nice tone in there somewhere, but that last glory note goes all kinds of wrong. Judges want her in the final 12 (and Ryan gives her the "She's sick" excuse). What does the show see in this girl?

6. Ramielle - "Against All Odds" (Phil Collins - 1984) Another cursed Idol song. What is it with Phil? He must have some magical musical mojo because everybody else sounds like crap when they sing his songs. She's using some weird phrasing on this song and the glory note doesn't work. I like her, but that was not so good. Ryan is loving being taller than her. TMTH?

7. Brooke - "Love is a Battlefield" (Pat Benatar - 1983) Interesting arrangement. I like it. It works for Brooke. She needed a bit more practice to make it really click, but it's still good. I like that she did it with just a guitar. Well done on changing up the song. Paula's wrong about the band.

8. Syesha - "Saving All My Love For You" (Marilyn McCoo - 1978, Whitney Houston - 1985) Syesha is always ready for her close-up. It's annoying. Well. She's no Whitney, but that was okay.

Best of the Night: Amanda, Brooke, Kady
Worst of the Night: Kristy, Asia'h, Ramielle

Definitely safe (for a combination of reasons): Brooke, Amanda, Carly

8. Syesha – “Saving All My Love For You” (Marilyn McCoo – 1978, Whitney Houston – 1985) Syesha is always ready for her close-up. It’s annoying. Well. She’s no Whitney, but that was okay.

Best of the Night: Amanda, Brooke, Kady
Worst of the Night: Kristy, Asia’h, Ramielle

Definitely safe (for a combination of reasons): Brooke, Amanda, Carly

I'm somewhat frustrated this year as I am not coming up w/any confident future predictions. In S5, I predicted Taylor, Chris, Kat and Mandisa as top 4 - not too bad. Last year, I predicted LaKisha, Melanie, Jordin and "a guy" as top 4, with Jordin winning. I predicted these during the top 12. This year....maybe it's because I'm jaded from reading so much over the years how Idol works. To the rest of the world, Archuleta and Aussie dude might be the top 2, but I'm not keen on the heavy push by TPTB for Archuleta, and I think Aussie boy has been going downhill since "Light my Fire". His start on "Don't You Forget About Me" was great (the ooh ah part) and went downhill from there. For the girls, the only one who caught my attention early on was Brooke, but I like the indy folk girl type. I don't think she has a big power voice, but don't think she needs to for her style. I thought she took that Pat Benatar song and made it worse because she managed to convey a ton of emotion in the song, even while remaining seated - something Carrie Underwood has never been able to do for me. Bottom 3 girls, to me: Kady, Kristi Cook, and either Asia'h or Syesha, even tho they are both quite good. Amanda was ON last night & she offers something different. Hated Carly's song choice. Ramiele needs to sing something fun for a change. Bottom 3 boys, to me: Luke, by far, and maybe Chikeze. I like Castro and I must admit David Cook really delivered. Still don't like his hair, but he improves each week. Wouldn't be surprised if he won.

Perhaps Amanda was feeling a bit exposed because of her DUI being all over the place. Considering her profession and her intelligence, it had to be terribly difficult to find that splashed all over the place. Whatever it was, I really like her and her performance last night. It is refreshing to have such a different style, particularly for the women, represented on this show.

(He's not hard to look at either!)

Ha, WeeLassie! I remember that commerical. Celine Dion was driving a Chrysler Pacific down scenic routes with that song playing. Only one problem: up to that point, she had never had a driver's license!

I totally loved Amanda this week!

She cracks me up though. She has NO emotion. not happy. not sad. She just stands there and takes it. It is definitely different when I'm SO used to seeing the EXACT opposite. I don't think that is her being disrespectful, i think that is just how Amanda is. how can you not like her?

I think we need her in this competition because she divides up the blonds, grant it we lost some already, but they still are running together for me.

In a perfect Idol world we'd lose Kady Malloy(because she still sucks) and Kristy Lee Cook(because she sucks too!) I don't understand the Kristy Lee Cook love the judges gave her. I thought she was off on the song, and it was SO BORING. But it was JOURNEY! You can't say anything bad about Journey!

I didn't care for Brooke this week. I don't like the slow boring Love is a Battlefield...

Ramiele is kinda boring. I have a tendency to forget about her, which is awful because I like her.

Asia'h was cute. Syesha bored me.

Guys kicked girls butts.

Ah, I thought I had my picks all set for tonight and I'm happy with the guys, but I just looked at dial idol and one of my girl picks is in third place according to them. Granted the margin of error puts everyone in danger but, gah!!!

TCO isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t forcing folk to purchase his downloads, so there must be something to him.

No of course not. Over the top praise never had an affect on anyone's impulsiveness either.

Look, not taking anything away from him. Obviously, people "get" him. I don't. It was a joke, really. Heh.
