You're so right about this group having fun with the cheesy group numbers, MJ. It's so much more fun than the ones who are too cool to get into it.

haha I was the caller who asked Michael and David what they wanted to sing on tour BTW

Thanks for asking. I loved that answer, especially the duet where DC says he'd sing the Dolly part. :laugh_tb:

That's great - bet you didn't expect that answer! LOL.

I thought it was one of the better shows this year. Now will all the Group Performances be so cheesey? Can't wait...

The Clark Brothers are much better singers than what we heard. Sound system, maybe?

I knew Carly wouldn't be leaving, but wished it had been Kristy! Oh well...

Seriously, how could I have missed this in the group sing. Wait till the end when the Idols are behind the judges on the risers. MJ starts in with the air smacking likes he's riding a horse. HILARIOUS!!!!

Thank you Idols for making the cheese extra thick and creaming this year.

Bo's In A Dream is one of the best moments in idol performances. Sure would like him get a better chance to be a hit. Was good to see him. Wish him well.

Since I love meaningless rankings, here's my list for Most Cheese-Loving in Group Numbers:

1. Jason- Texas hoe-down! Everytime I see him dance, I'm just like OMG, what will his college friends think?! Maybe it's different in Texas, but yes, Jason gets first place for dork dancing...and skipping...and doing little dance twirlies with KLC. He doesn't even care if he sounds like crap on the vocals.

2. David C- Running neck to neck with Jason. Chest bumps, hip bumps...and he's a RAWKER. LOL.

3. Michael- Can't beat his dorkalicious footwork and hip movements (literally).

4. Carly- Who would have thought? She's intense about everything else. Maybe she should incorporate some of this cheese into her performances, heh. But yes, props to Carly for sliding on tables and losing her balance.

5. Brooke- Letting MJ grab her legs like that while her husband was in the audience = MAJOR DORK POINTS!

6. David A.- Look at me, Daddy! Look at me! Even my dork dancing is perfect!

7-8. Kristy Lee Cook and Syesha- Enough said.

***CONGRATS TO CCJ FOR TOP 3!***

Thanks for the new link MJ. When DC and Ramielle do the bump, his hip is in her armpit....bwahahahah. Gotta love the 10 on the Velveta scale of cheesiness. And yes, these idols do get it.

Jason's "Travelin' Thru" is amazing. I love the vocals and the music.

The contestants this year really seem to embrace the cheese and they seem to have a lot of fun doing the group numbers. It's obvious that they know how corny and cheesy the numbers are and they are having a blast.

For the last two weeks, the contestants have sung one song instead of a medley. I sincerely hope they stick with that the rest of the season. It seems better, somehow.

Carly dresses like the "before" on one of the makeover shows. She needs a good stylist who can make her an "after".

I like Brooke, so I found her explanation of her crying to be touching.

It was nice that the other girls supported Rami but when Kristi did not leave the stage, I was kinda pissed. IMO, it was as if she made the moment about her, not Rami. When the others came back, I was less pissed. I still think that Kristi should have hugged her and left so that Rami could have talked with Ryan without her.

I would not be surprised if Syesha sang "The Greatest Love" next week. Oh Boy!!!

SpenserJ, after reading what you wrote, I don't think you are much of a cynic at all. My credit card is at the ready too, I never question motive as long as the outcome is positive, and I can't help but wonder what would happen to these kids if only the pure of heart were charitible.

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Little Sparrowà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is so precious. David Cook should have done that acapella thing in his live performance- it would have been a Bo Bice à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“In A Dreamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ moment."

Yes, I love David's whole studio performance of "Little Sparrow". The acapella would have been great for the live performance. The ending on the studio performance was better also. I don't think David was at his best but still better than most of the rest.

Other than KL Crap's little note moment, I really don't have anything bad to say about last nights show. Which is a big surprise to me. I would say that during that hour, my little grinch heart grew 2 sizes larger.

So, the IGB thing. Yeah - I'm gonna be ready with credit card in hand. The thought of children living on the street fending for themselves is astonishingly heartbreaking to me. I do not have words for the sadness I felt watching that. Call me a sucker, but I'm in. Perhaps AI's motives are not entirely altruistic. But, I'm not one who believes there is some kind of good giving threshold. Whatever a corporation or individual chooses to give to those less fortunate is a-okay with me. If movie stars give only $100,000 to charity every year when they could actually give $1,000,000 - I don't care. That's a hundred thousand more than that charity had the day before.

I also don't care if IGB is just for publicity's sake. Anything that exposes these issues to 30 million people is good in my book.

I can't help myself - I adore brooke and I found her quite sincere last night. She had the right idea. 2 sisters alone on the streets are so much more important than a stupid tv talent show. I'm touched by Brooke's rainbows and sunshine because I'm such a cynical and jaded person - I have to believe people like her exist so I can retain my faith in humanity.

The support the contestants showed Rami when she was voted off also warmed my heart. I was seriously pretty sappy and weepy last night!

And - that group number to 9 to 5 was right up my alley. Super cheese to one of my guilty pleasure songs. Their dance moves really do crack me up. I love these kids.

MaryS, I have to agree. Lots of good recordings this week.

Jason's "Travelin' Thru" is absolutely terrific.

"Little Sparrow" is so precious. David Cook should have done that acapella thing in his live performance- it would have been a Bo Bice "In A Dream" moment!

Carly, David A, and (I can't believe I'm saying this) Kristy Lee Cook had nice ones too.

I just want to say that I LOVE the recorded versions of almost everyone of these performances. I bought a bunch of them this week.

David Cook sounds like Chris Thile of Nickel Creek on "Little Sparrow." This is my favorite performance of David's. He can pull off blue grass vocals just as well as rock. Wow. Really good stuff.

Michael Johns sounds a little like another favorite of mine, Lyle Lovett. And he should sing countrified soul for the rest of the season.

I liked the segment on the former idols. It is good to see what they are doing.

Love Dolly but the live performance was not that good.

The elimination of Ramiele was not a surprise. She was one of my favorite at the beginning but has flat-lined.

The Clark Brothers needed more of a setup. Poor Ashley was petrified. If some of you would like to see what they were really about, go to the MSN site and watch their performances. Link below:

If KLC sings "Amazing Grace" again, I call foul. Enough already! I did enjoy the Clark Brothers last night but I also agree that Ashley seemed a little off - nerves or whatever. It was good seeing them again. Now, as I said in chat, we have to get Sixwire on Idol, or at least Andy Childs and the drummer, LOL.

primeminister Apr 2nd, 2008 at 11:40 pm

The Brooke vs. Jason moment was a sad one for me. I love both of them.

Me, too. I thought Jason for sure was in the Bottom 3 because of Dial Idol, and I was shocked when it turned out to be Brooke. And then I cried when Jason was safe. I hate being emotionally involved this year! I know he's going home soon. And I just "can't stand the pain". Goes off to buy Travelin' Thru on iTunes.

Inspirational Week - If Whitney or Celine hasn't done an inspirational song, Syesha will be in trouble. OOoo! Time for that Olympic song!... what was it... something about believing in yourself... brainfreeze :ponder_tb:... it's playing in my head... "children are our future"... Greatest Love Of All! Well, Syesha's ready. How about Kristy? Quick! An inspirational Patriotic song! :dry_tb:

savgal - Yeah, I enjoyed Jason, too.
I am constantly amazed at how "outside-of-the-box" Jason sings. I just watched his little piece in 9 to 5, and it was amazing how he re-phrased the words and melody and made it his own. What a guy! I really like him!

That's not the FIRST time Kristy's written one of those prophetic notes. She did that another time, too. It must be something that helps soften the emotional blow subconsciously, though the first time she did it, I think she was wrong - can't remember.

I think this could actually just be a really good week, but I did just get a bad thought. KFC can sing Amazing Grace.
A Capella!
Oh dear! We're NEVER gonna get rid of her!

By the way, I've heard Dolly's recorded version of Jesus & Gravity and her voice was just as excellent as always, so I think last night was a fluke. And it makes you realize how live singing doesn't sound as good as recorded singing.

The Clark Brothers didn't impress me at all and wonder why so many people seem to love them. It was painful to hear imo. They must have been better on the show. :blink_tb:

I enjoyed the group number but agree that their dance skills are pretty much zero.

I enjoyed the question to Michael and David C about what song they'd sing in concert and laughed when they joked about doing IITS as a duet.

I thought Ramiele going home was the right choice although wouldn't have minded Kristy leaving. Maybe next week. I could see her doing Amazing Grace. She's done the patriotic song so it must be time for the religious one. There is someone going home next week. It's not on IGB night but the next one.

I got Michael's studio mp3 and loved it although maybe not quite as much as live. I'm getting a nice little collection of his music with the AI downloads along with his previous stuff.

I admire Dolly for singing live without any backing track or other "help," but I always wondered if those outfits she is sausaged into ever have an effect and, well, we could see it last night. She completely ran out of breath. In fact, a really good show woman looked a bit awkward onstage in my view. Love her anyway in all her glittery, made-over splendor.

While the singing in the group numbers this year is pretty darn good, this group is proving themselves the absolute worst re their "choreography" (disguised as clunking around the stage and just avoiding running into each other knocking themselves flat.) Gotta love it, though, and I still feel last week's number took the Cheese Whiz Prize. I don't think it will be surrendered anytime soon.

Clark Bros: Made me relive all over again why I was a Sixwire fan. While they are truly talented musicians, I felt, at the end of that runaway train of a song, as if someone had mainlined 4 gallons of pure caffeine directly into my bloodstream. My heart cannot handle that kind of intensity!

Ramiele. So cute standing with the Big Girls (Booke, Kristy and Ryan) Anyway. She was always out of her league on this show, but I really enjoyed her gamine presence. I will miss her.

Best for last. Bo and Bucky! My boys! Love 'em both! I adore Bo and loved his little segment. What an adorable little boy he has, too. Kudos to them for doing so well, post-Idol. That other guy. The bald one. I think was part of a season I have no memory of due to its being the single most boring in Idol history.
