Tonight, one dancer will not be moving on to the finals of So You Think You Can Dance.
The judges were pretty clear last night about who they THINK should move on. Kent Boyd, Robert Roldan and Lauren Froderman were praised by the judges and given the “hope to see you next week!” sign off, While Adechike Tolbert was criticized, and then congratulated for coming so far.
Of course, voters at home generally have a will of their own. Adechike hasn’t hit bottom all season. Although it’s inexplicable to me–Adechike is a strong dancer with nice lines, but I don’t feel him connecting to the audience or his partner.
But he’s connecting to some peeps, because week after week he’s gotten voted through to the next round. And I think the judges’ blatant heave-ho spurred Adechike’s fans to vote even harder for him last night. Oh and the tears. The tears didn’t hurt.
So, I think either Robert or Lauren are heading home tonight. Robert has had several trips to the bottom, and Lauren found herself there last week. If I absolutely HAD to pick, I’d say Lauren was going home. Her performances were good last night, but they weren’t in-your-face good. Well, neither were Robert’s really, but I think the people at home are warming up to him. Still, wouldn’t be entirely surprised if he gets the boot.
That leaves Kent Boyd, who has never hit bottom and never will, because he’s going to win So You Think You Can Dance 7. I bet if we got a glimpse at the vote totals, nobody else even comes close.
