Cat Deely is wearing a emerald green Herve Leger-esque dress w/black detailing.
Girls dance is Bollywood by Nakul-judges loved it, they used a water gourd as a prop, lots of sassy moves and beautiful multi-colored two piece costumes
Guys dance is African by Jeff Paige-judges loved it, dance is very energetic, in traditional garb w/no shirts
Jeanine and Jason- Contemporary by Travis Walls to Jason Mraz ‘If It Kills Me’ is universally praised and adored, Debbie calls it dance of the season IIRC
Melissa and Brandon- Broadway by Tyce DiOrio to Age of Aquarius’, judges loved it, mix of Melissa’s ballet technique and Brandon’s athleticism
Randi and Kupono- Paso Doble by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin, universally panned, Randi in a brown long wig, lots of lifts and sexy posturing
Kayla and Evan- Viennese Waltz to Seal’s ‘Kiss From A Rose’-Kayla is barefoot and Evan is in some serious Latin heels-they love Kayla and think Evan is clunky but strong in the lifts
Janette and Ade- Hip Hop by Napoleon and Tabitha to Love Sex and Magic- Ade is the Funk Doctor and Janette is the funkless wonder who gets hypnotized by the pick.

ooh Love Sex Magic is such a funky song, can’t wait to see that one….
isn’t it awkward to doing a ballroom dance with one person with barefoot and the other with not only shoes but shoes with serious heels? you can’t pivot the same I would imagine

for the 1st time this season, im excited about the show. great lineup of music, dance styles….especially the group numbers. and solos by each contestant? i think we’re in for a treat.
(ummm, how the F is this show not getting higher ratings? especially more than America’s Wannabe Talent? reminds me a bit of the Amazing Race…in terms of being high in quality yet low in ratings)

I’m thinking I should just give up on my love for Kayla, she just seems doomed.
Wand3rful, I agree with you about the ratings. I can’t understand why SYTYCD isn’t more popular. It’s a fantastic show — really talented contestants, great choreography and music, terrific judges, and the best MC in the business. It’s probably my favorite of the performance/reality shows. :rolleyes_tb:
It is my favorite show by far! I have no clue why people watch America’s Got Talent. I watch half a show the first season and couldn’t stand it. Maybe SYTYCD will do better in the Fall.

I can’t stand America’s Got Talent. It’s so cheesy, and not in the ironic nudge nudge wink wink way Idol/SYTYCD or even DWTS is. It’s just so…trailer park.
oh, yes…..Cat Deely hands down one of the most, if not THE most engaging, personable host in reality tv show business.
last season on AI, she was a last minute backup sub for seacrest, but ryan made the show……i still wish he would have sprained an ankle or something just so i could watch Cat blossom in front of millions of viewers (who otherwise don’t know her from SYTYCD)
I watched AGT fully only once because my friend’s dad supposedly made the cut, he was in a barbershop quartet but they never made it on air and I thought this is like the Gong Show and Star Search blended into some even cheesier hybrid.
Otherwise during a commercial I might land there for one minute.
Regarding AGT: I cannot respect anything where the Hoff is supposed to be some kind of authority on talent.
Regarding the spoilers: Sounds like it will be a fun show tonight. I think Randi & Kapono are the weakest dancers left, so it is rather convenient for them to be paired together. Hopefully, the voters will agree with me.
I appreciate the PTB catering to me by pairing up my top 4 dancers (Melissa/Brandon & Janette/Ade).
I’m happy with the Jeanine/Jason pairing too. Jeanine is a fabulous dancer (actually, she’s an even trade with Melissa for my top 4 – I’ll take either one). And, I’ve seen a lot of potential with Jason, but his initial pairing just wasn’t able to bring that out. So, I’m happy for him that he finally has a chance to shine. I wonder if it will be enough though, since some of his previous lackluster dances haven’t built all that much goodwill for him.
I think I’ll actually vote this week.
Ughhhhhhhhhh this season is just irritating me a lot! I really wish they’d stop handling Melissa with kid gloves and make her go WAY out of her comfort zone like they’ve made the others do. I’m so glad she’s not with Ade any more, now we can see what Ade can REALLY do. This split will benefit him for sure, I think.
Also can Randi or Evan go last at some point? Because, you know, that might be fair or something.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Jason. It appears that his partner dance is OMG THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER and his solo sucked. This is, after all, a solo competition…..hmmmmm……..I’d say it’s between him and Kupono to go home tomorrow.

I was really hoping that he and Randi would do an amazing Paso, but oh well. I still don’t know what he said about Vitolio (I lost the thread, so I don’t know if my question got any feedback) Is what he said the reason people aren’t into him, or is it something else? Please, someone who saw this, let me know- and I’m sorry if it’s a repeat for everyone who did see it.
No, I like him. I wasn’t much of a fan in the beginning but he’s grown on me a lot, especially after he switched to dancing with Kayla, I thought they were a great pair.
Regarding the Vitolio incident. Basically right after Kupono found out he was safe and Vitolio found out he was going home, Kupono didn’t hug or express any sorrow towards Vitolio’s elimination and I think a few people thought that was rude of him.
Personally I didn’t see it that way, Kupono seemed very anxious and nervous and I think he was so surprised he was staying that he didn’t really know what to do next, he looked like a nervous wreck, but that’s just how I saw it.
I think so too. I just don’t think Jason has built a lot of fan support. For me, Jason and Caitlin were good the first week, and then a snooze fest for every week after that. So that’s why I’m wondering if this alleged stellar performance is enough to keep him safe another week. I can see he’s got skills, I just don’t think he’s connected with the TV audience yet. Boy just lacks fire.
But if he does go, I’ll be happy for him to go out on a high note, because he does seem like a nice kid.
Ha! I didn’t even notice that they hadn’t gone last. You’re a much more keen observer than I am. But of course, for the first few weeks, I can barely remember anyone’s name or tell them apart. It took me a few weeks to differentiate all of the contemporary guys and figure out who was Kayla and who was Karla.
Whatever happened here, I missed it too. I don’t have a problem with Kupono – I just think there’s a ton of talent in this top 10, and to me he’s the weakest guy.
hmmm…i dont recall him saying anything…it was more that he didnt hug/say goodbye to vitolio…or he smirked…something small, insignificant like that……i just dont like the guy bc he’s the weakest of the remaining dudes…with evan close behind. i get the feeling the judges want him to turn into Mark 2.0 but it is NOT happening.
I’d have to agree, and not just because I’m a fan. He doesn’t seem like a vindictive type of person, he actually seems quite sensitive. Thanks to Dr. Tracy, SpenserJ, and wand3rful for responding to my question!
I’ll switch over to the other thread, but I don’t think Jason’s going home tomorrow…
