2 season in a row, the ballroom/atin male dancer got sent home quickly. How will other dancers dance Quick Step, Tango, and other all latin dances that need hip movement?

Looks like this season, Nigel really want lots of contemporary dancers in top 10. Have Nigel ever thought that maybe Maks got more votes than Kayla?

Remember in season 4 when he gushed all over Kherington. Turn out Twitch had much more votes than Kerrington.

Cause Twicth become the runner up and Kherrington was the first female dancer to go home in top 10.

It will be total irony that Kayla will also had the same fate with Kherington in top 10.

So far none of the remain 8 girls capture my attention. My prediction, again a male dancer will win this season. Probably Evan who had major personality. Or maybe Brandon if Mia kept personally attacking him and he will got tremendous votes from the public.

Kupono solo was not very good. He at least had to know that he possibly in bottom 3 and had prepare his solo dance.

Meanwhile I can understand why Max solo was not good cause he did not think he will be in bottom 3.

At least Jason prepared a good solo cause he also know before the results he had a possibility in bottom 3.

So far we had already 6 different couples in bottom 3 and it just week 2.

Interesting that Ade, Kupono, and Jason were the three featured male dancers and they killed it. I wonder if that also had something do with Jason and Pono being safe and Max going home. Mia usually saves the featured spots for the stronger dancers.

I think it’s also the ones she likes too – Brandon, a strong contemporary dancer, wasn’t featured. And she’s been nothing but critical of him.

We haven’t had a choreographed couple piece from Mia yet. I bet we get one next week. And I say there’s a good chance that Jason and Caitlin get it (if TPTB like them enough, I guess). Ade and Melissa are due to have a partnering dance (they’ve had contemporary and jazz so far), and Kupono is due for a partnering dance too actually, since he’s had jazz and hiphop.

Of course, Jason and Caitlin are also due for a partnering dance after having Bollywood and Hip Hop, so who knows. I just *HOPE* they get a Mia routine.

I agree the group number was awesome. Jason really saved himself with his solo. Hope he will get a contemporary piece next week. Kayla also had an interesting solo. Of the other four, no one was bad but they didn’t stand out either. I guess I realize now how important the “dancing for your life” portion is and how difficult it makes being a part of a pool. I did not get a single point.

The girl singing last night was Kristina DeBarge of the famous DeBarge family (80s? earlier?). Her song is lame (no lyrics for the most part) and she didnÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even pretend to lip sync! They should just lose the singing, b/c itÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s NOT. My suggestion it so put an Idol a week NON-SINGING and as a nice cross-over. Otherwise, just lose this and put another dancer or dancers on.

Hell, why not take a page from DWTS and have repeat performances of the judges’ favorite from the night before?

Even better, make the dance-for-your-lives solos a little longer.

Nigel is having surgery today–good luck, Nigel! I am not sure who is sitting in: I think Adam is too busy. Maybe Mia? Lil C again? WADE? DAN? BRIAN? (I think Sonya would be hysterical!)

Lil C’s butchering of the english language is hilarious. Comfortability!!!! Lol! He just makes up words as he goes a long and uses them randomly in sentences… Sometimes he sounds like someone’s reading the dictionary into his ear-peace during a thunder storm (bad reception). Lol! He is sexy though.

I was sorry to see Ashley leave. I liked her.

I think a Kayla/Pono pairing might be really interesting since I think they both have a quirky edge to their dancing. And I think they were the more charismatic performers in their original pairings, so now their pairing might bring a more dynamic synergy. Pono brings a more interesting presence to the show so I’m okay with this decision.

I think with this year’s dancers, every week from now on is going to be tough because they are very strong.

I was surprised by the bottom three and I’m surprised they sent Max home. I agree with Nigel that none of the six should be going home but that’s the way it is.

I am having a hard time seeing Kayla and Kapono as a couple. That should be interesting.

Does anyone else think that Ashley looks a lot like Ashley Judd?

Max should’ve stayed, Kupono was the weakest of the bunch. thought last week he got lucky w. the Wade number cuz duh Wade makes anyone look fantastic. i think nigel and mary’s love for Kayla really cost max the competition….he fking owned that number last night and was pretty solid/great last week, yet she got all the raves. im sorry, she’s a bit over-rated (dont pelt me w. stones! purrty please). plus, didnt nigel make a comment last wk about keeping a balance btw the diff styles of dancers…..who else is a ballroom male??? you telling me Kupono can go head to head w. Jason, Ade, Jonathan etc……really, they dropped the ball on this one.

Mia's group pieces tend to feature her signature quality of movement, strong male dance leads, the athletic female dancers, and lots of black costumes that kind of remove the individuality of the dancers....think The Dance (my fave) or Hide and Seek or The Moment I Said It . I thought that was def more Mia than Wade, whose choreo kind of springs from the characters he creates. Hey stella, I found a Season 2 group piece to Footloose you might like that looks a LOT like Max's solo...Dmitry looks hot in these jeans.

I actually prefer Ashley and Kupono’s offbeat style to the usual contemporary fare, and really enjoyed Kupono’s solo, but I really enjoy the dancers I have seen from 24-7. He’s not as strong as Mark or Cara, but I enjoy him. Ashley just looked cute, but she didn’t do much. However, now that I have caught it on the West Coast, she danced to one of my favorite artists, so I love her even more. Le sigh.

I really think none of these three are the weakest in the competition, but their numbers weren’t great.

No, Maks was no Pasha or Dmitri, but he was a good dancer. This caught me completely off guard.

Kupono may be popular, but I am just not feeling it from him. Ashley was a predictable choice. My favorites are still there.
This is a stramnge season when the remaining four from last week weren’t in the Bottom 3, but rather SIX who haven’t been there before.

I hear you, sunchick. I was actually thinking of something by Adam Shankman and remembered the Hairspray number. I like some of these group numbers, but it just seems that all the choreographers are trying to compete with Wade Robson. He is brilliant, but I’d like to see a little more variety of styles in the group numbers.

LOL, I adored that group number. (To the song from the jazz studio in Center Stage!) Some of Mia’s better stuff, actually, if you look at the actual choreography rather than the darkness and the edgy. I’m not one for bright,happy group dances because I guess I’m not bright and happy lolz. Actually, it’s mostly because they usually end up choreographed by Tyce. Shankers did put together a fun Hairspray group number that was lighthearted in season 2 or 3…and the 3 Guys Named Moe last season was a little madcap and very entertaining.

I don’t think Ashley was all that much better than Kupono in the hip hop. Evs. If that’s the popular opinion, though, he won’t be long for the show.

The group number was pretty good, BUT, why do all the group dances have to be so dark,edgy, scary, with weird make-up? Just for once, I would like for them to TURN THE LIGHTS ON (so that we can actually SEE the dancers) and do a bright, happy dance. LOL

I really liked Max’s solo, and I don’t think he got enough credit from the judges. They need to quit overpraising Kayla at the expense of her partner since people are voting for the couple. It really doesn’t help her at all.

I didn’t like Ashley’s solo, but she was so much better than Kupono last night that it sucks to see her go, and him stay.

I agree, but the judges like Kayla A LOT, and Kapono is popular. So they put her with a popular guy to help her out. IF they land in the bottom 3 next week, Kapono is out and they will put her with someone else. Kayla seems to be the teacher’s pet this year out of the girls.

Obviously, as I stated that Pono’s solo was my favorite, I don’t agree, brie200, that Max’s solo was better, way or otherwise. Kupono’s solo had personality and a unique quality of movement. Max’s solo may have been one of the better ballroom solos, but it wasn’t as interesting as Jason’s or Kupono’s solo. Max is a solid dancer, and as I said, I would have rather gotten rid of Jonathan, who I think is by far the weakest male dancer (dancer, not gymnast) left, and certainly less competent in his own specialty than poor Max, but really, but what can ya do? Karla’s fabulousness saved Jonathan’s ass this week. I have a feeling that she will do it again, too. Sigh. I wondered if Kupono and Kayla had done the BFree piece, it might have been even better than Max and Kayla, and that’s when it dawned on me that Kupono and Kayla might be a good couple. Not a slight on Max, he performed admirably.

Kupono is still my favorite male, but Ade has grown on me immensely as well. I would like to see him let go a bit more, as I so love the strength in his movement but didn’t feel him fully embrace the attitude of the Sonya piece this week, and the quirky character driven type of jazz that Sonya and BFree and Wade do is my favorite type of choreography. But then again, he was amazing in the Mia piece. I *knew* Mia would love Ade. He’s so up her alley. Maybe he’ll be my fave by the end.

All these early impressions are subject to change, of course, as the season progresses. Kupono can’t coast on the brilliance of the crash test dummies for a whole season. And sometimes really talented dancers burn out spectacularly and go home while fundamentally less talented dancers like Jonathan show some sort of growth arc and suprise everyone.

I’m really shocked they let the only ballroom guy go. I hope they pick him for the alternate for the tour just so there’s SOMEBODY who can partner properly. I also really liked Ashley. Bummer… I would’ve flipped that and sent home Kayla (don’t like her and didn’t like her solo) and Kapono, even though I really like him. But I thought he was the weakest of those three.

sunchick, that’s just it though. I thought Maks ballroom solo was way better than Pono’s sort of freestyle solo. Ballroom solos generally suck, but Maks was well thought it and performed well to boot. It was a good jive solo…much better than what Asuka put out there last week.

Likely it was Nigel and Lil C. Usually Mary sticks up for the ballroomers.

If anything the show probably just thinks Pono has more star power than Maks.

Ade has become my favorite male though…and Karla for the girls.

I thought Kayla and Max made a great couple and I am so sorry to see him go, I don’t agree with the judges, his solo was much stronger than Pono’s but what do I know LOL
I can’t see Kayla and Kapono having much chemistry together and I don’t see why Nigel would pair her with him if he’s worried about her being in the bottom 3 again, he didn’t gush all over her tonight after her solo as much as I expected but she clearly had the strongest solo of the 3 girls.
That DeBarge bimbo was terrible, that’s two weeks in a row of shabby performers, hope they do better next week.
One thing I do know is I should just give up on the pool already, I suck at it.
