I’m only halfway through the show so far, but this is a really weird night for me. Nigel’s being a wee bit harsh to everyone - and I’m not so sure it’s all deserved.
But - shirtless Twitch - Yeah!
What’s funny is that tonight, I’ve really been impressed with Kherington, Katee & Chelsie - when typically it’s their partners that I adore. And, Courtney did the best hip hop I’ve seen from a female so far this season. Some of the girls are really bringing it tonight (although I reserve the right to make fun of them once I watch the second set of dances LOL).
Poor Matt & Kourtni. That hip hop choreography was I think the worst I’ve ever seen. Not that I think these two could have mustered up a whole lot of gansta - but they had nowhere to go with that crap.
Again - Comfort’s posture was horrible, and her arms were all wrong, but the judges don’t seem to notice. They must really want her on the tour.
I’m agreeing with you, SpenserJ, that the girls are bringing it tonight.
Damn, I adore Joshua, and I would have sworn he was meant for the Swing, but I may have liked that least of all tonight. Didn’t like the choreography, and though I think Katee did fine, i thought Joshua looked awkward and unswingy. Benji, I’m blaming you, hmmph!
Loved both of Mia’s routines tonight. Katee and Kherington were wonderful in those.
Storms are making me miss some of the show. Darn those weather people! :)
I can’t say that I loved both of the dances of any couple tonight. I think though that Courtney and Gev were maybe my favorites throughout. My best dance, however was Joshua and Katee’s Mia Michaels. There absolutely nothing beautiful about any move in that dance, and they made the entire dance beautiful by embracing what it was (does that make any sense?). Anyhow I didn’t like Kourtni and Matt at all. I love them separately but together, hardly ever.
Loved the Mia Michael numbers tonight! The Joshua/Katee one gave me chills! And the Twitchington one also had me hooked…shirtless Twitch is Wow.
I agree, the girls really brought it tonight. Katee was stunning in the Mia number and Chelsie was nealy flawless in both her performances (as was Mark)
Loved both of Katee and Josh’s dances, liked Mia’s more than Benji’s, Katee was sensational in the first, loved her..

Nigel was a real worm tonight, he seemed peeved about something, and acted like he was the freaking star of the show, I was actually being okay with him the past few weeks, but his asshat self is again shining thru- what a jerk
Twitchington’s Mia dance was easily my favorite of the night. I found that to be just stunning.
Surprisingly (because I worship them both) I thought Joshua & Katee’s WCS was not very good. But, their contemporary was fantastic - so I’m forgiving them.
Again, oddly, I didn’t like Mark as much as I usually do. Although he did very well in the Mandy Moore routine - he was pretty sub-par in the other. And, that feather dress was ludicrous.
I’d like to thank the choreographers for all of the yummy shirtlessness tonight.
I thought Will & Jessica both totally kicked ass in their contemporary. I think she was a little unfairly criticized on that one. And, Will gets this really pained look on his face when they’re extolling his virtues while bashing his partner. I fell bad for them.
Nigel has called Matt “twee” twice now. That means he’s a dead man. Kourtni was perfectly awful to me in both of their dances, and I believe Matt far outperformed her. But he still gets hosed.
I’ll agree that Comfort was much better in their second dance, and I was impressed with how well she does the lifts. But, I still think she’s one of the weakest of the girls.
I thought Courtney & Gev were both really good in both of their dances. But, they don’t really grab my attention the way some of the other couples do. Gev doesn’t have a whole lot of stage presense.
Nigel was totally on my nerves tonight.
My favorites of the night were Twitchington’s Mia piece (Wow. Just WOW.) and Will and Jessica’s Mandy Moore piece. Okay, so I picked the two with half-naked men. It’s not my fault.
I also liked Mark and Chelsie (they’re Hawtsie, right?) in the first piece, but not the fox trot so much. Mark had the right persona, but didn’t seem to be moving as smoothly as he could. And Chelsie’s bizarre dress took me out of it a little.
I thought Joshua and Katee were very, very good in the Mia contemp, but it was kind of a cold and off-putting piece for me. I’m not saying that was them — I think it was the nature of what she choreographed — but I just didn’t feel it. And I honestly thought their WCS was kind of sloppy and not very good. That seemed way overpraised to me.
I wasn’t with the judges on Gev/Courtney. He looked great to me in the hip hop and her not so much, and then neither really lit it up for me in the Gene Kelly number. (Jules Munshin, Nigel. No one in the least French. You’re welcome.)
Otherwise, I’m ready for either Comfort or Kourtni to go. Too bad I actually liked Thayne in the WSS, cos he is SO going home. I think Matt and maybe Will or Gev will be in the B3 with him, but Thayne is out of there. Not so sure about Comfort. I liked her okay in the waltz, but I’m still ready for her to go.
I don’t think they are ready for Comfort to go home. I just have a feeling they want her for another week. I also saw much more chemistry with her and Thane than I ever saw with them with either of their partners. I’m thinking leaving may be between Will/Jessica/Kourtni/Matt…then again, this is my first year watching the show so I may be way offbase.
I don’t think Comfort is going either. She was beautiful in the blue dress. I think it will be Jessica and either Matt (I hope not) or Thayne.
Twitchington left me with my mouth opened watching the bed dancing. It was a little steamy watching him writhe on the bed! I almost felt we were intruding on something personal - I’m sure that was the whole point and I agree with Mary - FEVER!
Can Nigel be voted out? What was his problem tonight? Nigel for the bottom 3!
Loved Mark and Chelsie’s jazz number. Mark always seems to put so much emotion and character in every dance. He turns into a very hot guy on the dance floor. And they’re a good couple.
Loved Will and Jessica’s 2nd dance. Will…WOW. He is a genius dancer and the body … WOW. But it must be hard to be Jessica and constantly get compared and told you’re not good enough.
Loved Twitchington’s contemporary. Both dancers were great and Twitch…WOW to you, too. Another great body.
I love Joshua (Katee…hmmm.. good, but not my favorite girl). I thought the contemporary dance was very well done, but I didn’t love the dance. And I thought the West Coast swing was one of the worst choreographed dances all season. Just YUK. Katee did not look ’swing-y’ and Joshua was only okay. Maybe it was all due to blah choreography, but I was completely underwhelmed.
Comfort and Thayne — my picks to leave, but somehow I don’t think the judges will let them both go at the same time.
Can’t wait for the videos. I’ll be rewatching those hot shirtless guys…ummm, I mean those fabulous dances….
A few random thoughts:
Nigel, can we vote off Cicily and Olisa? Please???? Ugh, I can’t stand their choreography. I even prefer Dan Karaty’s choreography to theirs.
Speaking of Dan, while he judged the first week, we have gone 4 full weeks without seeing a piece of his choreography. Interesting.

Jumping in and out of bed with shirtless Twitch and a bunch of flower petals? Sheesh, Kherington is a lucky girl. And I am seriously jealous of her right at this moment.
Did y’all see Comfort’s lines in that waltz??? I mean, seriously…who saw that one coming? She and Thayne had far better chemistry than either of them did with their previous pairings, and they really kinda blew me away tonight. They weren’t my favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but I also don’t feel like they should be going home after those performances.
Kinda cool to see Broadway choreography on the show done by someone other than Tyce. I love Tyce, and I love his choreography…but Andy Blankenbuehler’s has a very different Broadway feel, and it was a good change of pace.
Favorite routine of the night? Joshua and Katee’s contemporary.
That is exactly what I’m expecting too. Jess and Matt/Thayne will be heading home.
I kinda think that he’s got a script for how the judes on his shows should behave towards the contestants at certain points in the competition. In the first few weeks, go kinda easy on them to help build their confidence. Then, a few weeks in when there starts to be a separation between the haves and the have-nots, be much tougher on them than they deserve, in hopes that it will get the haves to really step up their game, and get the have-nots to crack under the pressure. It’s kinda formulaic, and I’ve seen it on AI too.
I would not be at all surprised to see Jessica survive another week and see Kourtni sent on her merry way.
I also just don’t see Nigel sending Comfort home before top ten if he can help it. He’ll worry about a tour filled with female contemporary dancers. I think they prefer variety. Comfort will outlast both Jessica and Kourtni, I think.
I am kinda leaning towards Kourtni going home. This is not fair I know and in the real world Kourtni is not a large girl but in the dance world she is and it will give her partner a tougher time with lifts and things all the time then a tiny bundle of energy like the other Courtney. My lovely niece dances so well but isnt chosen for as many parts with those extremely long lovely legs of her. Put her next to my tiny cousin and they look like Mutt and Jeff. The larger girl appears more akward than the smaller, they cant match her with partners and so on. I totally see what you are saying Spense about Comforts arms, are they just really long and then appear to be all out of place? I am not sure but . I think that Thayne will go but not too sure really on any of them this time. I think it will be between Thayne, Matt, Kourtni, Comfort and Jessica somehow. Comfort did bring it more but I dont think that she will be there much longer. My fav dance’s this time went back to my originals Twitch & K and Joshua & Katie.
If I had to guess, I might think Kourtni would be hitting the road. She’s one of three blondes left in the top 7 girls and one of FIVE contemporary dancers in the top 7 girls. Thats kind of a lot of overlap.
For the boys, we’ve got three contemporary guys (if that’s what Will counts as — not sure about him) and three sort of hip hop guys (I think Gev is the only b-boy, but Joshua and Twitch seem to be pretty versatile), and Mark is some weird crossover. (He calls himself contemporary funk but doesn’t act or move like anybody else.)
Because Chelsie and Comfort are unique (ballroom and b-girl), and Mark is unique, I guess they’re safe. Plus Joshua, Will and Twitch are very versatile and kind of go beyond their specialties.
So that leaves the plain old contemporay dancers Thayne and Matt, and plain old b-boy Gev in trouble.
Or maybe I’m totally wrong and none of this matters! Definitely could be.
Meanwhile, I can’t wait till the couples get broken up at Top 10 so I can (hopefully) see Will dance with Kherington and Katee and Joshua dance with Chelsie and Mark dance with Courtney and Twitch with Katee and Chelsie. It should be amazing.
I also think the bed dance is a safe bet for the tour. That and Mark and Chelsie’s Mandy Moore and Joshua and Katee’s shirt dance.
Sumidol, I think Comfort’s arms are kind of long. But, my main problem with her is that she never fully finishes her arm movements, and that her arms always seem to be in the wrong place to me - if that makes sense. I think she did better in the second dance because Thayne has excellent posture - and he was holding her so much, he helped her to keep her frame.
Smartcookie - I tend to agree with your theories. I think the next two weeks will see the dismissal of Thayne, Matt, Kourtni & Jessica.
I too am looking forward to the partner switching. I think that will make for some really fun performances.
I’m just watching my recording now and contrary to the judges, I loved Matt’s hip hop or whatever it was. Of course, it wasn’t a “true” hip hop but whatever it was - i liked it. I never thought he would be able to do any of those moves and it really highlighted his dance ability to me. Compared to real, hard core hip hoppers, it probably wasn’t so good but I don’t really care a lot for hip hop but loved Matt during this one. He has such incredible posture and can do such deep moves because he is so flexible. I’m not ready for him to go but it may be his time. I would like to see him with Chelsie but that ain’t gonna happen.
Next thought-I hate the paso ding dong. What a butt ugly dance. I’ll pass on it from now on. Love twitch and kherinton but i don’t like that dance.

I’m thinking the boy going home this week will depend more than usual on the girl going home. If Kourtni stays, they’ll keep Matt almost for certain since he might be the only dancer who can partner her height? If she goes (personally I hope she does - for some reason she’s always irritated me), then it’s up in the air which boy they send with her. I’m just glad to see Thayne dancing more like I know he can with a different partner and better choreo. I’m crossing everything he’s still here next week and gets jazz or contemporary…please!!
Overall, I agree it was a strange night. Nigel on the warpath isn’t pretty.
In fairness, that was a really poor Paso Doble. The woman is supposed to be a cape, which I didn’t see at all with Kherington. Done well, IMO it’s one of the best, sexiest & most dramatic styles. This is how it’s meant to be done. ;)
Twitchington’s bed routine was my favorite tonight.
BOOO, too bad HAWTsie didn’t have kick-ass performances. They were good, but a little disappointing after the momentum-gaining performance last week.
I didn’t care for Courtney and Gev’s last performance. I did like Twitchington’s bed routine.

Well they all go to show I know bugger all about the technicalities of dance because once again I loved them all and was completely entertained! Just wow….
I have no idea who to pick for tonight, the two I thought were a write in to go were Thayne and Comfort but they upped their game. I think they were too hard on Jessica, she was fine, it is just Will is THAT good! He does tend to upstage her. And I liked Matt and Kourtni’s routines, I think the powers that be want them gone. Maybe because they are both too tall for group numbers on tour?
Performing the waltz will save Comfort this week. The judges want her on the tour, IMO. OTOH, I also sense that Jessica is not on their list.
I also found Josha and Katee’s WCS sloppy but don’t want to blame Benji. That cartwheel move can be so cool, but Josha messed it up. I do love the dance but not tonight.
To see a Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire routine done with grace and flair would be the greatest viewing for me. Still waiting…
Y’all, I like Kourtni and Matt! I like their height! One of my favorite dancers, Geoffrey Holder, is tall - he stands out! I hope they don’t go home before the top 10 but I don’t think TPTB want them to stay either.
I second that. I actually missed the first hour of the show and have not seen their first performance yet, but I am convinced that it is thoroughly impossible to make the foxtrot exciting. I know lots of people have done the foxtrot in the past, but I can’t remember any of them. It’s plain and simply not a stimulating dance. They did a good job, I thought, but yeah, nothing to write home about. Chelsie’s horrible dress didn’t help either. They’ve been really lucky with the dances they’ve had so far…it was bound to happen at some point.
I’m now on board with Kourtni going home. I have changed my mind and now think they want Comfort for the tour (for demographics). They seemed to like Jessica a lot next week, so they’ll keep her until next week. I still think Perma Thmile is a goner, though. At least I hope he is. I’m tired of looking at him.
Joshua and Katee’s contemporary dance gave me chills from the opening. It was a weird dance, but they brought so much emotion to it that I enjoyed every second of it. Their WCS, however, was not good. Josh barely swung his hips and his cartwheel was terrible. I think he tried his best and his lifts were strong, but the dance part just wasn’t there. Katee was better, but still doesn’t get high marks from me.
My other favorites of the night were Twichington’s contemporary (I agree that dance will be on the tour), Will and Jessica’s shirt number, Mark and Chelsie’s jazz, and Gev and Courtney’s Broadway. Unlike others, I didn’t like Comfort in the waltz much. She was just too stiff and looked like a mannequin. The lifts were gorgeous, though.
While I am looking forward to when they switch partners, I will be a little sad to see Joshua and Katee parted. They have great chemistry together and look like they were born to partner.
There are a few consistant things about Nigel. He likes his male dancers to be:
Technically strong, charismatic, versitle, and masculine.
Matt has only one of these in his eyes. He will leave tonight and I will soothe myself with a batch of chocolate chip cookies.
He also values growth during this phase of the competition. This is why Thayne will outlast my Matt honey. It’s also why Comfort will outlast Kourtni. Now Jessica, on the other hand, he will have to patiently wait for her next appearance in the bottom three. Do you think they will mess with the vote just to get rid of her? Naw! She will be safe until next week.
Amen sister!!! I wrote the same thing on my blog. I really can’t believe that I want Dan back. Cecily and Olisa need to go away! By far the worse routines of the night and maybe ever.

Just rewatched my favorites. I have to say that I think Will and Jessica’s contemporary ’shirt’ dance was THE best of the night. Even Jessica looked great in the lifts. It was fabulous. And as much as I liked the bed dance by Twitchington, it didn’t have as many dance moves. Great story, and great performance - but I’ve now deemed it my 2nd favorite of the night.

Um. Matt, dear. *sits him down* So, look, if my 509 votes last night from under the covers don’t turn out to be enough to keep you out of Bottom 3 Hell — and I really doubt 509 votes is going to make a difference — just make damn sure you’ve got a kickass solo to stick up Nigel’s ass. Okay? Okay. *sniff*
I didn’t like their paso doble either, and I usually really like Twitchington (although I’ve yet to watch all of their Mia routine because my mom insisted on calling me when all the good routines were on last night). I couldn’t help but have to compare their paso doble to T&H’s (which is still one of my fave perfomances of all time on the show). I thought Twitch was really stiff or something on their routine. Kherington looked fine to me, but I didn’t think it was that great all in all, either. It seems like their Mia contemporary saved them, though, so I’m not worried.
Top 10. That means one more week (not counting this one) in which the couples all stick together like glue.
I love Twitch more than is rational, but it was clear to me that he had no clue what he was doing in that Paso LOL. He was trying so hard to fake it, I just had to love him anyway.
I felt the same about Joshua in the WCS, and I love me some Josh. But, he was sloppy and slow and his usual glowing stage presense was missing for that dance. I do think however that they both were excellent in their contemporary routines.
I also believe that regardless of Twitch’s performances last night - his biceps and six pack would have redeemed him either way. I’m probably too old to be thinking this, but boy does he have one smokin’ hot bod.
I think for Hisaki, Sarah and Krazeeks sake we need Matt to stay because I really would miss their cute comments on here. So Thayne you have improved but some girls on here would miss Matt toooo much so you gots to go! OK?
Thayne has shown he can get it done but someone has GOT to tape his mouth shut if he stays. I can still see that pumpkin head smile in my minds eye right this minute and it is just soooo annoying. I went back and watched Will, of the hott body too, and Jessicas shirt dance again and that Was really good and clever. Jessica is just not as fluid as Will but she was so much better this week.
Who knows, watch it be someone completely off the wall
The judges must really, really hate Jessica. I thought she actually improved last night on the Mandy Moore routine and now I’m just not getting all the hate from the judges. Anyway, I think she’s safe for at least another week until possibly hitting Bottom 3 Hell again. Come on, people — shirtless Will? I repeat, SHIRTLESS Will. That screams “SAFE” to me. lol
Just another thing — I thought Manatee’s WCS was WAY overpraised. Maybe it’s just because I like Pasha & Sara’s WCS from last season a little too much than is healthy, but I thought Manatee’s WCS was really slow, and I didn’t like the choreography (sorry, Benji). Not to mention those hot pink outfits. Blech. (Hello, tomatoes. *dodges*)
Oh, and Nigel? You can suck it.
I’ve been thinking about this today a little - and I don’t think I’d be at all shocked if Jessica and Will are safe tonight. She improved a lot, yet the judges were still really harsh. (Nappy’s “you bring Will down” comment was really overboard). Plus - as Hisaki pointed out - Shirtless Will!
If that’s the case, I would guess that Courtney & Gev round out the bottom 3. And, I think that’s the only possibility that could ever save Matt tonight. Nigel hates Matt more than he hates Thayne. Nigel worships Will. But, Gev has been sort of disappointing. So, if that happens, and Matt can kick the solo’s ass again like he did last week - there’s a small chance he could stay tonight.
I of course will then lose all of my points in the pool, but I’m happy to make that sacrifice so my peeps can have another week of Matt.
Hisaki - a big ditto on the Pasha & Sara WCS! That was fantastic. Although, I guess it’s unfair to compare a ballroom dancer doing WCS to a hip hopper doing it (even with Joshua’s under cover training). But, in general I agree, last year’s dance was better choreographed, danced better and it had a ton more energy.
No kidding. That is how it should be performed. It didn’t help that the pink was awful. But Sara was a B-girl, right? She really pulled it off. She was my fave last year.
So, back to who is going home tonight - well, I’m thinking it will be Matt and Kourtni, sad to say. Nigel hates Matt and he pretty much told Kourtni last week that she would be gone if she ends up in the bottom three again this week.
Yeah, Sara was a B-girl, but she’d apparently had a lot of training in other styles. I think I read that she just picked up hip hop and breakdancing 4 or so years ago. Anyway, even though Danny was my overall fave, she was my fave girl last year. She totally kicked some major ass on pretty much most of her routines.
I dunno about the pool. I’m torn between my head and my heart here.
The judges gave Jessica those good comments after the 2nd dance, but they also said she was holding Will back. I DON’T think they want her on tour; however, as someone said in chat last night, I don’t think they’ll get rid of her unless there’s someone better to partner Will with. For that reason alone, she may make it through this week and get cut right before the partner-switching rounds, UNLESS by some ridiculously miraculous event Kourtni and Matt manage to be safe and the bottom 3 consists of Comfort/Thayne, Jessica/Will, and Courtney/Gev. In that case, they could kick Gev and Jessica off and put Will with Courtney, which could potentially be a good partnership. I just think that TPTB want Comfort on tour for demographic purposes, even though that will likely mean “saving” her for 4 weeks in a row, only for her to probably be the first girl eliminated once we get to the individual voting rounds at top 10.
At least that’s the hope I’m clinging to, because if they kick Kourtni off tonight, Matt’s going with her. Can you imagine him dancing with Comfort? She’s like, 4′11 or something. It’d be like watching David and Goliath dance. I could *maybe* see him dancing with Courtney, but I just think that if they’re gonna cut one of the Kourtni/Matt partnership, they’ll cut both.
But, anything can happen, I guess. So, who knows?

Hmm, I agree. I think the only way for them to cut Matt before Kourtni is if we lose Chelsie or Kherington (from the line-up at the end of the show last night, it looks like only Twitch and Mark are tall enough to dance with Kourtni) the same week, which is obviously never going to happen. And none of the other girls are even remotely up to Kourtni’s height for them to be dancing with Matt, if they cut Kourtni before him. Chances are they’ll be cut at the same time…and I just hope like hell it won’t be today.
