Trusted American Idol spoiler, Joesplace, just updated her list of Top 50 contestants with two more names: Kristen McNamara and Von Lee Smith. Here’s my list.
I’ve highlighted them both before in spoiler posts, but in cased you missed it, here are the deets once again.

Kristen McNamara – She was a previous Star Search and Nashville Star contestant. ( Her music ? Not very country, although she does yodel) She boasts a 4 octave range and has been a regular National Anthem singer at 49er games. Her bio says sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s working/writing with Chris Trevett, (Backstreet Boys, Nà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢Sync, Britney Spears, Aaron Carter) finishing and indie record. Her Nashville Star Star profile says sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s opened for Lonestar, Collin Raye, Diamond Rio, Montgomery Gentry, Travis Tritt, Kenny Chesney, Kevin Sharp, and Glen Campbell. i read some interesting stuff on Kristen McNamara at VoteForTheWorst dot com. I especially like the part on how she moved to Nashville to be a “cuntry” star and when she couldn’t cut it there,or on Nashville Star, she goes the Idol route to be a pop star. Second chance rehash. She’ll never be welcome back in Country after turning here back on it like she has.

Kristen is genuine…she’s a sweet, talented, beautiful person.
If you really think the contestants that make their way to Idol are “unknowns” or “plucked from obscurity”, implying they didn’t have experience opening for other acts, playing smaller venues or trying out on other talent shows, you are deluding yourself…the vast majority of all the potential contestants that tried out for Idol have had their talent (or lack there of) out there for public viewing. I do not fault them for that! This is the nature of the business.
It’s a ladder. You start wherever you’re able to get your opening, and continue until you have either got your foot in the door, and you’re able to continue up that ladder, or you’ve exhausted all of your chances.
Kristen is welcome in Country, she’s welcome in Pop. It’s ridiculous to say otherwise.
Knowing Kristen is a blessing. She gives of herself wholeheartedly. Anyone that says otherwise does not know her. Making disparaging comments about her is, IMHO, a sign of the commentator’s poor character-evaluation-skills. It appears as a rather lousy attempt to sway the public, and it is not worth the space it is written in.
