Oh man, I feel the same too. I was looking forward to see Colton on the idol stage. His original songs are very very good. I think he had potential for the country scene, he had the whole package. So unfair, I hope he doesn’t quits music after this, hopefully he can find another vehicle for success. What a shame.
I must have missed where it was written, said, or suggested that Colton Swon might have been cut because two Coltons in one show would be too much… :unsure_tb:
While I still hang on to the remote chance that the spoiler might be wrong about Swon being cut, it is interesting that several of us are bummed about it. The only other time in AI history that I have been this bummed about a contestant not making the semi-finals was in Season 3 when George Huff did not make the original semi-finals and from what I have heard, he was not an original alternate either. I think it is the only time that I actually contacted AI to complain, and I complained that Huff should have been in the semi-finals. I know I was not the only complaining either. Then the next thing I knew, a semi-finalist got kicked out due to being arrested (I think), and Huff was his replacement. Huff wound up being the last man in competition and fifth overall that year. I was right about Huff that year and I believe I am right about Swon too. TPTB have messed up before. LOL
Purplesmile, it is only my personal speculation that a potential name confusion of a kind of unusual name such as Colton combined with several other factors would be a reason for cutting someone. I am guessing that if Swon was indeed cut, I am also guessing that he would be borderline, and that several small things combined could make a difference. It is only my speculation. I realize that there are three Davids in the spoiler, but David is a common name, and TPTB must have liked them enough to compensate for that. For instance, Kim Caldwell and K-Lo looked nothing alike. “Chris Rich” and Chris Sligh looked very different from one another. I personally would have no trouble telling apart the Coltons, but I am speculating TPTB would think the casual viewer would be confused. Not enough of a reason by itself, but I think it could have been a contributing factor.
