PJ's Recap of Ace Young's LA Birthday Party

Because of missing so much work with my bum foot, my trip to Hollywood was a whirlwind.  I arrived in the afternoon of the day of the party, hopped on the Super Shuttle, and arrived at our hotel, the exclusive Orchid Suites.  I would highly recommend this hotel based on the price and location. It’s located right next to the Kodak Theatre and Hollywood Blvd. However, if you require fancy amenities, it ain’t for you.

I didn’t have time do any touring, other than my trip to the drugstore for saline solution. I limped over the stars of a few celebrities, including Chris Rock, Penny Marshall and David Copperfield. Who knew Copperfield had a star? I sure didn’t.  I would have liked to have stayed longer, but I’ll just have to go back sometime.  I couldn’t get the Sheryl Crow song “All I Wanna Do” out of my head as the Super Shuttle zipped passed famous streets like Rodeo Drive and Melrose.   Hit it! This ain't no disco. It ain't no country club either!  This is LA!

My friends showed up shortly after I got to the hotel and we all got ready for the party. I rarely dress up for anything and had a hard time finding a dress I liked.  Nordstrom? Nope?  Filene’s? Nope.  Finally, I found a black dress for $38 dollars at a little store called Presence and a pair of shoes for $15 at Famous Footwear. I borrowed a necklace from a friend and I was set.  Hit it!   This ain't no disco. It ain't no country club either! This is LA!

Anyway, Ace’s party had an eclectic mix of people. I was pleased that it wasn’t all women. Ace has lots of friends, male and female. Idol celebrities I recognized included Anthony Federov, getting jiggy on the dance floor with his little blonde date, Lisa Tucker, and Elliott Yamin (there with JP). Kat and Kimberly Caldwell were there, reportedly, but I didn’t see them. The only non-Idol celebrities that I recognized were Tha Vill and Sam Sapong, who performed.  However, others in attendance were John Voight, Trevor Penick (aka "Tre Scott", formerly of O-Town), Q'Orianka Kilcher (Pocahontas in the movie The New World), Michael Capon (from One Tree Hill and But Can They Sing?), and some guy from Entourage. I didn’t meet or recognize these people. Others did.  My career as a celebrity stalker is going nowhere fast.
The best part of the night was probably the check presentation.   Ace was so happy that he teared up.  It’s clear the money being raised for The Children’s Hospital by Highrollers with Heart means a great deal to him.  I love this picture. I just wish I could get it without the watermark. Anyone have an account with Getty?

Ace also gave a copy of his CD to his fans at the party.   Apparently, he got the guest list from the party planners and personalized them in advance.  I don’t think anyone knew he was going to do that, so that was a special treat.  I should take a picture of mine, but then you’d all know my name isn’t really PJ and we can’t have that, can we?  These CDs aren’t for sale, but were the ones sent to the radio station. He cleverly crossed over the contact information on the front, but failed to do so on the back.  The contact person’s email?  Azoffmusic.com.  Hmm.

Random gossip:  My friend ran into Lisa Tucker in the bathroom.  Lisa said she's now on a sitcom called "Zoe 101" which airs on Nickolodeon.
