Tracy's Recap of Ace Young's LA Birthday Party
I arrived at LAX a little before midnight and to the hotel around one. I met Jodi, Debbie and her daughter. We didn't fall asleep until around four and got up around eight.A little before 11, we met up with Jaclyn and had a late breakfast at Mel's diner. We drove around for a bit, then Jodi, Jaclyn and I walked around Hollywood Boulevard for a bit, basically all the touristy stuff. The walk of fame, the Kodak Theater and Mann's Chinese Theater. Later on, we walked around the Hollywood and Highland complex and scoped out the location of the party. We met a few other highrollers there and chatted with them for a bit. After walking around for what seemed like forever, we go back to the hotel to get ready. As Jodi said, we were "workin' it!" lol
We met up with Kara and Nichole at the limo and took a few pictures. The driver took us to the Beverly Center, so we could go to Rubio's and support Keep Tha Faith (Tha Vill's charity). It was funny walking through the mall all dressed up. We're all in our party clothes drinking beer and eating cheese quesadillas in the food court. Tha Vill actually showed up and we got to meet him. We all got our pictures taken with him and got a group shot. I look drunk in mine and I had only half a beer (For the record, I was NOT drunk). Vill commented on how tall I was and I told him it was the shoes. haha We drove around a little and even got to see Hollywood at night. Beautiful sight. We got to the party around 8 PM and took our place on the line. We met even more people there. A dude in front of us was wearing a "high rollers" hat and swore he had no idea that Ace fans were called highrollers. lol Saw Lisa Tucker and her group go in, too.
We go in and hang out, go to the bar lol and just basically socialized for a bit. I was on the dance floor and had a good view of the front door and saw Ace. He came inside and I just kept on dancing (haha). Anthony Federov from season four was getting his freak on right behind me with a cute blonde girl. Nearly walked into Elliott coming back from the bathroom. He was there with his girlfriend and she's very pretty. More dancing and sitting a little on because my feet were hurting (if you guys saw the damn shoes, you'd understand). It was time for the performances. Trevor from O-Town performed a catchy little tune, a rapper's name who I don't remember, Sam Sarpong also performed one song and was the emcee, as well. Tha Vill was awesome. Ace was just having a blast, dancing and mouthing the words to the songs.
The check presentation was great. Brooke gave a great speech and named off a bunch of fan sites (and this blog was included
He was urged to sit on the chair in the middle of the stage and he definitely look apprehensive about it, like "Oh sh*t what is going to happen here". And of course, I was right. I found it funny, and he played along nicely, albeit looking a tad uncomfortable. I thought he got a little into towards the end, though. You could tell he wasn't expecting it at all. He said before that his parents were watching and I later learned that 40 members of his mom's church were invited to watch, too. With all the problems with Wallop, they never saw the infamous lapdance. Probably a GOOD thing.
More dancing, and the wonderful HwH people got us to line up, so we could each get a couple minutes with Ace. All the fans received a hard, personalized copy of Scattered, which was great. I get my turn, and I made sure I said happy birthday because I would have kicked my own ass, if I didn't. I was telling him that it was my first time in California and he said it's gorgeous out here. He asked if I was working on my tan and I said no, and he kinda laughed. I told him that I was from NY and that I'm not used to beautiful November weather. He also asked if I was having a good time and of course I was! He said to keep having a great time and that he would be out later (that never happened for whatever reason). Saw Ryan again, got a picture with him, too. He was much more business like this time. We all danced a little more, found out Ace wasn't performing. That was a little disappointing, but he was resting his voice because he has a bunch of gigs coming up. Ryan thanks us and the party is officially over. We took some pictures on the red carpet and then back to the hotel.
It was a great time and I would definitely do it again in heartbeat, jet lag and all.
