Griz - are you sure? I mean, the voice is exactly like his dad’s, and he mentions Sean. And they were talking about the family crest, so I was sure it was his dad!

Yea, I’m sure. It’s definitely not his dad.

  2. 252 Former_AI_Junkie Mar 25th, 2007 at 6:35 pm

Well an American board would have no relevance to the average UK viewer.

Which begs the question: Why would it be edited out?

Which begs the question: Why would it be edited out?

Because we get extra interviews and anything not relevant gets cut.

  4. 254 Former_AI_Junkie Mar 25th, 2007 at 6:39 pm

Do they normally cut off all the post-performance banter with Ryan for every contestant?

  5. 255 Lisa B Mar 25th, 2007 at 6:54 pm

We certainly don’t get all the post performance chat for every contestant.

You are reading far too much into the UK edit. We have next to no press re AI. VFTW and Dave would mean nothing.

  6. 256 graycharles Mar 25th, 2007 at 6:54 pm

AFan, I might have been STONED when I posted it. An I can type with a purty strong accent muhself whens I whunt ta.

  7. 257 hezzer19 Mar 25th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

    Go Team Plaid!

  9. 259 AFan Mar 25th, 2007 at 7:37 pm

STOP THE PRESSES! Call CNN Headline News! Taylor’s accent is more pronounced when he’s messing around with his friends backstage - OMG, OMG!!

He didn’t come across TO ME like he was stoned, AFan. What makes you think so? And *IF* he was, more power to him - it’s a lot less destructive than alcohol, imo.

I wasn’t saying that in a negative tone. I was just a little thrown cause I’ve never heard him sound like that before. It was a simple observation. And I actually meant it in a positive way. I think Taylor actually seems cool when he’s laid back like that. And trust me I have no problem with him getting stoned.
Idol I’d most like to get stoned with: Bucky, hands down. Or Elliott. Actually, both would be ideal.

I posted it in the other section, but I’ll post it here just to make sure you catch it, MJ (re: Wednesday’s ratings).

Variety said Wednesday’s show pulled 26.3 million viewers

  11. 261 Tony Mar 25th, 2007 at 7:57 pm

And another thing: Sanjaya’s “You Really Got Me” has more spins on Top 40 radio (according to MediaBase) than any other contestant this season. lol

    Sanjaya domination!

  12. 262 Little Boy Blue Mar 25th, 2007 at 7:58 pm

    AFAN

Add the word FAKE in front of all of those and you got your man.

Maybe your man but definitely not mine.

  13. 263 Little Boy Blue Mar 25th, 2007 at 8:00 pm

First Taylor, now Sanjaya…This boy may win yet.

Why not first (Kelly or Ruben or Fantasia or Carrie) now Sanjaya… HUH ? What makes Taylor stand out ?

  14. 264 db Mar 25th, 2007 at 8:05 pm

I think of Elliott’s music as “winter” music - which probably makes no sense to anyone but me - lol.

No! That makes total sense, although I’d personally qualify most of the songs on Elliott’s album as Fall or Spring songs. Those are songs I wouldn’t mind playing while driving down the road with the windows rolled down and the wind in my hair. *sigh* Anyway, the music I listen to definitely tends to vary depending on the seasons or weather. I listen to more jazz and blues when it’s cooler, and more folk, pop, and alternative when it’s warmer.

“Alright” is also my least favorite track on the album. It always gets skipped, much like Taylor’s GMT. Different strokes for different folks though.

This is really sad — On their way home from the Chris’ NC free concert on friday:

MaryS, you kinda put my feelings of Elliott’s cd into prespective. It is a really cool laidback listen. The kind of music that you will hear at a nice cafe or coffee shop. Starbuck anyone..Heck, that is how John Legend got his start..

Drunk driving is very serious. My friend died in a drunk driving accident on Saint Patricks Day a few years ago.

On my way to Las Vegas a couple years ago, in the car in front of me on the freeway a couple was killed trying to get out of the way of a drunk driver who got into their lane. Their car turned over 3 times on the freeway.

  20. 270 mj Mar 25th, 2007 at 8:31 pm

Thanks Tony! I’ll amend my post…

wow Squishy, to witness something like that must have been quite a shock to the system..

    Sexygirl,

It freaked me out and I am a physician who deals with life and deatb in my job (I am neonatologist) but it is different when it is close to your own life.

This refers to the fact that they were both parodied on SNL. Plus, they’re both EXCELLENT performers. Hah!

  24. 274 db Mar 25th, 2007 at 9:07 pm

Taylor covers Sheryl Crow’s Run, Baby, Run in Dallas:

    Part 1
    Part 2

ETA: I finally watched the SNL clip on the front page, and OMG!! :lol_tb: Andy Samberg does an amazing Sanjaya.

I can imagine. I was reading both your story and the News and I’m numb..

Taylor isn’t the first Idol to be parodied by SNL. Clay, Ruben, and Justin have all fallen prey to the SNL scribes.

Here’s a partial list of Idols impersonated on SNL (I only bothered checking for the winner and runner-up for seasons 1-5):

    Season 1
    Justin Guarini

    Season 2
    Ruben Studdard
    Clay Aiken

    Season 3
    nil

    Season 4
    nil

    Season 5
    Taylor Hicks

    Season 6
    Sanjaya Malakar

    ALERT

    great news
    Taylor’s JTFTW has re-entered the top 40 chart AT #427 HAS A UP ARROW.only has 1 spin but it’s a start :thumbup_tb:

  28. 278 squishy Mar 25th, 2007 at 9:31 pm

    Sexygirl,

After that happened it was really surreal. The freeway stopped and everybody got out of their cars. The car was upside down and blood was streaming from the car. The left side of the car was crushed. It took the longest time for the cops to come for it was the freeway to Vegas and not much going on on that highway. The lady who was drunk driving was taken away by hand cuffs and they just covered the car area where the bodies were with a white sheet.

I watched the news that night and it said that the lady was drunk driving.

I didn’t enjoy my weekend in Vegas. I was freaked out all weekend.

She wrote it when she was about 15 or 16 when her parents separated (listen to the words). Good ole’ Clive would not let her record HER songs so I believe she released it when she went with her new management team (could be wrong here.)

You are wrong on several counts. Clive has nothing to do with Kelly’s management…he’s with Sony BMG and indeed had to approve all of the songs for Kelly’s CDs. Kelly is still with Sony BMG, recording for RCA.

Kelly “fired” Simon Fuller and 19 Management
    ————————————-
You are correct…Kelly apparently had to “fight” Clive to name her first CD Thankful. Clive has a tremendous amount of power over the Idols regardless of who is managing them. 19 Management also has a lot of control over them.
Indeed, her contract with Simon Fuller was supposedly bought out for $3 million.

Perhaps her new management team has more persuasion with Clive baby! All I know is that she has flourished since changing management. Good for her!

db, unable to get your posts to run — is there another path??

    Thanks

  36. 286 juliegr Mar 26th, 2007 at 12:00 am

db — figured out how to open the link and all I can say is WOWZER!

Thanks so much for sharing that one, it is just beautiful. He really has a wonderfully emotive voice and an unbelieveable way of performing the songs.

  37. 287 madaboutu Mar 26th, 2007 at 12:05 am

db………..I take it you have not posted the RBR vid on youtube or gofish? I would love to send this to someone who will not get to see Taylor in concert.

  38. 288 db Mar 26th, 2007 at 12:09 am

    juliegr,

The links are working for me. Try this link here doing a search for Taylor Hicks. You might want to try updating Flash as well.

    Hope that helps. :)

    ETA: never mind :)

ETAx2: madaboutu, those videos aren’t mine. I found a link to the videos over at the Boogie and merely decided to share the links here. I’d feel a bit odd posing someone else’s videos on Youtube or Gofish. You can always try emailing the myspace links…

  39. 289 madaboutu Mar 26th, 2007 at 12:30 am

db……….I understand what you’re saying about the posting. Is it OK that I passed it on to one thread at Gray’s? I hope it doesn’t cause a problem. Guess I had better ask before I pass next time. (I’m glad you posted it tho)

  40. 290 db Mar 26th, 2007 at 12:34 am

    mad,

LOL, no worries. It great video and definitely worth sharing. I also saw your post at GC’s and I went ahead and posted a teeny-tiny disclaimer of my own. :)

  41. 291 WVFan Mar 26th, 2007 at 1:26 am

CMT had a special on tonight “TOP 20 Sexiest Southern Females” and Carrie made number 11 :)
