Susan Boyle: I Dreamed a Dream Track List

In case your’re interested (I am, sorta) the track list for Susan Boyle’s upcoming CD has been released to the press.

“For the second time in a month Susan has defied preconceptions,” Susan’s rep tells People, “Everyone thought it was going to be an album of showtunes, but it’s not.”

Erm, hasn’t Simon Cowell and everyone associated with the Britain’s Got Talent runner up been yammering on, since BGT wrapped up, that Susan wouldn’t be recording show tunes? I think her first single, The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses” was a pretty big clue.

Along with the Stones, Susan also covers songs by Madonna, The Monkees and Patti Griffin. I have no desire to hear Susan Boyle strip the emotion out of “Up To The Mountain” thankxokgbye.

Susan Boyle’s album I Dreamed a Dream come out November 24.

  • ummm I am a Adam fan.. but I am not invested in anything other than owning MY album, Call me selfish.. And would never think to buy a Susan Boyle album.. but who knows if I happen across anything that I like I buy..

  • A lot of Glamberts are very invested in Adam’s CD being number 1 that week instead of SuBo’s. There will be a lot of wailing (perhaps even more than on Season 8’s finale night) if SuBo outsells Adam.

Yes. Yes there will, Sparkles. Death to SuBo! I swear. If I see her album at Walmart on the day of their mutual releases, I’m going to hide it in the Parental-Warning Hip-Hop bin. Then, I’ll place Adam’s CD’s front and center. Mwahahahaha!

  • I see SuBo doing well, and likely topping Adam that week (I do think it will likely be between them though since Lil Wayne moved his release date, but as a fan of Adam’s, I don’t care if he is number one or not). Sure, she is a novelty, but it’s Christmas time! That’s what people are going to do. People do mad dash shopping and go “uh, what do I get Aunt Betty for Christmas?” then they remember that not-so-good-looking woman from YouTube who was British and wowed people, so they grab it, even if Aunt Betty didn’t want it. And that is what they are hoping for, with that Nov 24th release date. Same with Adam and his buzz: random gifts, and it won’t just be ‘crazy-ass’ fans doing it. It’s the nature of Christmas shopping, especially that week where prices are competitive and slashed, and shopping is kind of crazy.

Btw, not a fan of her voice or the gimmick either. Apparently only attractive people are supposed to sound good. Who knew?

  • That is a track list designed for people over 70. I know this album is going to sell at lot of copies — but I am still in total denial.

And, can’t someone stop SuBo from ruining “Daydream Believer” like she ruined “Wild Horses”? Lalalalalalallalala I will stay in complete denial and never listen to her ruin the MONKEYS! Isn’y anything sacred anymore!!!

  • I think Susan and Adam will be in the top 10. As far as Adam goes I would rather have him have a steady sales steak for 52 weeks and never make number 1 then to have a number 1 album that sales die off right away. I would be extremely happy if he followed Carrie Underwoods first album. (never went to number one but sold a Super load of copies. (Yes I know he will not sell 7 million copies no one will these day. I just would like a similar trajectory)

And, can’t someone stop SuBo from ruining ‘Daydream Believer’ like she ruined ‘Wild Horses’ ? Lalalalalalallalala I will stay in complete denial and never listen to her ruin the MONKEYS! Isn’y anything sacred anymore!!!

    I’m right with you Q3…lalalalalalala :-)

  • She has a mediocre voice

Hmm, I think imma have to disagree..After listening to Wild Horses, I think her voice sounds very pretty recorded. I don’t like the tone in some ways, but it’s pretty.

Remember the book ‘Bridges of Madison County’ ? Worse book ever written, full of maudlin melodrama with no literary salvation but the story was just so tender and sweet and overdone and enthralled all the ‘womenfolk’ and it became a national bestseller, a horrible movie, and the writer even wrote another one.

I hated both the book and the movie.

  • Tell y’all what. I’ll make a deal. If I buy Susan’s

album the first week, I’ll also buy Adam’s. Deal?

This made me smile.. you are so thoughtful! Thank you, but I think I’ll decline your “deal.” I don’t care if SuBo tops Adam in the first week. I’m sure things will right themselves eventually.

I do think SuBo has a better than average voice–but I don’t hear any soul, emotion or grit. And I do think she ruined Wild Horses.
I don’t know about anyone else, but i’m commenting on her prospects because mj has a headline thread devoted to her, not because I see her as a threat to Adam. That would be downright silly.

  • double post

  • I think for many people, like me, it’s all about hearing a good voice sing some standards and familiar songs. Period. Not the drama, not the hype, but the voice. I’ve only heard her sing one song but I was stung by the voice, and I’ll be curious about the cd. I’ll probably buy a couple of songs. I don’t really get the strong reactions against her, but I haven’t been exposed to the hype, I mean, where are people hearing all this hype? I don’t seek out articles about her, so it all goes over my head. I feel sorry for her being so fragile emotionally, life must not be easy for her, but her voice is what I admire.

I think today with the emphasis on original music, and every singer is supposed to also be a songwriter, and all songs are supposed to be autobiographical, people forget what it is to hear really great songs interpreted by many different singers.

Not that these are all great songs. It’s quite a hodgepodge, yet I’m curious to see what she does with them.

  • Tess at 4:51pm – I agree with your comments; for
many it truly is a “rags to riches” story and many
people WANT to relate to that — I am only mediocre
about Susan Boyle’s talent; it’s on/off not really
    my cuppa.

I think she would be great on Broadway or
London’s West End … portraying an elderly
aunt or mother — her voice is strong and carries
far in a theatre I’d imagine.

I also believe she has a good future ahead
of her ~ perhaps not CD-wise, but in live
    entertainment.

  • I do think SuBo has a better than average voice’“but I don’t hear any soul, emotion or grit.

Not everybody likes those in music, though. Music can be appreciated just as a mathematically simple pure melody, too. Some people prefer that.

I wouldn’t say I prefer it. But I do like it sometimes, as a switch-off from more emotional stuff. Sometimes just purdy is what I’m looking for.

There are so many things to appreciate — or run from — about music that there are going to be fans of just about anything that’s at all competent in some way.

  • But for the Adam fans’ ¦should I wait until the following week? To make sure he debuts at the top?

Tell y’all what. I’ll make a deal. If I buy Susan’s album the first week, I’ll also buy Adam’s. Deal?

I’m an Adam fan, but not a Glambert. I can’t speak for all fans, but I think you should buy whatever albums you want whenever you want to. I don’t think Adam is going to need charity purchases. If you want Susan’s album, buy it. It’s your money and your choice.

  • Well what can i say. Ok where do we start, Adam lambert,This world famous NOT star released 10 singles and 1 album in the summer, total sales of 50,000 for mad world and a combined total of 522,000 for all sales up until july 31st,ricky.org and usa today.World shattering sales NOT. Total hits on his name on google.6,430,000 .total hits for susan boyle 17,000,000.Susan boyle video hits up until october 1st 340 million + from all sites. She will sell more in her tea break than lambert will in his life. It’s an album for over 70s,Where do these people live on the planet Zod.Her cry me a river got 12 million hits on you tube alone. And was raved about. You think all kids love hip hop and rap.Your sadly mistaken. Is it the best list,Not by a long chalk. But it will still sell millions because she has a fanatical fanbase.Plus whatever those who think she is crap think. 340 million means your ridiculous views won’t even count will they.wild horses is 40 yrs old.And rated by almost everyone as the best cover of that song, including mick jagger. You idiots need to go buy shares in a funeral home because that’s as far as your musical taste will get you.

  • Well, I like Susan Boyle very much – I love Adam Lambert. I like lots of different kinds of music – country probably the least. Someone asked who first recorded “Cry Me a River” – I think it was Julie London – a long, long time ago. I will absolutely buy Adam’s album – before I ever hear anything, if that’s how it is. I want to hear all of it and to hear him sing a whole album will be a wonderful way to spend an evening. His voice is to die for and I think the snippet is super, too.

  • People are too into looks instead of concentrating on the voice!!
Really, if I like what I hear, I’ll buy an album.
As far as looks go, well, maybe if Susan wore half the make-up that Adam wears she’d look pretty darn good too.
I like Adam’s voice, but his looks give me the willies.

  • Hwc you need to learn how to do research,The beatles first album ‘please please me’ released in 1963 had 8 lennon and mcartney tracks and 6 covers. They had more originals than covers. And,The stones first 5 singles were all covers.
