Wow! she is so down to earth. Like she said, she worked her butt off and the almighty must have been watching over her when she ended up the last woman standing.
I pray she gets the WIZ job, that would be a boost to her career.
Does anybody have any thoughts opinions about why Syesha and not Alexandria or Asiah, who I thought had much more interesting VOICES; ditto for Stephanie from last year.
What set her apart from the others? And does it seem like AI is trotting the males out vs. the females out to talk up the tour?
The males are out selling the tour because they’re the two top finishers! Pretty simple. The other females have pretty much done their press.
As to why Syesha, no, I can’t answer that. I much preferred Asia’h’s voice.
Well I think Alexandria & Asiah got little to no air time previous to the top 24. I remember them showing Syesha a whole lot during hollywood week. It’s part of the problem of the show, they do display some biases during the filming, and they need to eliminate that next year. Hopefully they’ll have equal camera time for all contestants from the get go.
Mrs. Castro: I tend to agree, because I thought Ashiah had a unique sexy soulful voice.
Bobbi: You misunderstood. I mean — ALL the males are getting more air time than the women…Michael J, Castro, David & David …all except Chikezie.
Well, I haven’t seen anyone but the two Davids and then all of them on Larry King and Access Hollywood, so that’s probably why it doesn’t seem like that to me.
ETA: Meant to say too, that I was glad Syesha had her natural style hairdo back. I like it much better than when she straightens it.
I liked Asiah too but often thought she was slurring her words a bit too much for my liking. Also she had some bad fashion choices. I know that’s a bit shallow, but this is not only audio, but a visual medium as well and on that score alone, I am not surprised that Syesha outlasted the other girls. Love her natural hair, it’s just prettier to me. Idol has done this to many of the women of color on the show, from Tamyra to Kim Locke. Some go back and others prefer the straight look.
I wish Alexandrea had lasted a bit longer, she has a beautiful unique voice and they missed a grand opportunity with her. I hope she doesn’t give up. She would make some noise a young singer with that hip neo-soul vibe.
Anyway, I always liked Syesha, and am glad she is enjoying her little press junket. She worked her ass off and I commend her.
Abby: However — There’s something about Syesha that doesn’t “connect” and I don’t know what it is….maybe she needs more “seasoning”, but emotionally she doesn’t connect to the song….maybe it’s youth. She’s the 3rd girl standing like Vonzell and Kimberly were the third standing. She seems to be a very hard worker and determined to make it.
Does anyone else read at Rickey’s? He went to see this performance — and ended up being the only fan outside.
Who the heck voted for her? Someone in her camp is a computer/techno-genius or something — her votes were generated by robot or something. She’s got no fans online in all the usual places, no one shows up to see her — something is very very strange.
To me, the grassy-ist knoll is in Shyesha camp.
I’m not a super big Syesha fan or anything so hopefully, my opinions don’t come off as biased. I didn’t like Alexandrea because she didn’t have a “shining” personality and her song choice was horrible! I liked Asiah until she thought she could sing Celine and Whitney. She doesn’t have that type of voice and it those were really bad song choices. On the other hand, Syesha could pull it off and I think she lasted long because she was so underrated. I think people rooted for her because even when she did great, she didn’t get any credit for it. I don’t see her getting signed for an album but i can see her in a big tv role or movie role
The only way Syesha stayed on the show was due to the casual and non-committed voters. It is pretty amazing she outlasted some with big fanbases. I feel bad for her that no one was at the show to see her. Coming in 3rd place is sort of the short end of the stick, b/c you end up doing the PR thing the same time as the winner due to the finale, and you get lost in the shuffle. I love her natural hair, to me the straightened look with extensions didn’t seem “natural” to me, it was like a costume on her.
