Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud are doing the satellite interview thing this morning–both are involved with and promoting the new Oreo Cakesters jingle contest.

It goes like this: Write the winning jingle, and you’ll get to meet Matt and Anoop, and maybe get your jingle played on the radio. More info here. Pretty lulzworthy stuff!

Plus, Matt tells the Grand Rapids peeps that he was very excited to run into Andrew Garcia and a few of the other Season 9 guys at an LA mall recently… (they even took a photo!)

A couple of Season 8 updates:

While Megan Joy considers her options, including a small role in the Farrelly Brothers next movie, Hall Pass, she’s still working on her music.

She posted a brand new song on her Facebook last night called “Ryder on the Storm”.

I like this one, a sweet ode to her son, Ryder.

Scott MacIntyre tells Christian radio station, 101QFL that he’ll be performing on American Idol sometime in March to promote his new album, Heart Strings, available on March 11.

Scott is also writing a book with a ghost writer.  Scott broke out the leather and studs to perform with Alice Cooper in a benefit last Decmeber.

If you missed the first part of USA Today Idol reporter, Brian Mansfield’s interview with Season 8 Idol, Anoop Desai, you really ought to check it out HERE.

In it, Anoop has some very good advice for Idol hopeful, John Park, whose audition aired during Tuesday’s Season 9 Chicago auditions.

Part 2 was just posted, and here’s where it gets good–Anoop delivers the deets about his upcoming album, tentatively titled All is Fair, set to be released this spring.

His first single is called “My Name” and was co-written with Season 7 Idol, Brandon Rogers.  Other writing collaborators for All is Fair include Season 6 semi-finalist Jared Cotter (co-writer of Jay Sean’s smash “Down”), Nashville pop singer-songwriter Josh Hoge and Anoop’s pal, David Mikush.

Anoop Desai, making the most of his post-Idol window of opportunity, has been super-busy this week.

There was a photo shoot with Karl Simone earlier this week for his album cover.   Check out the photo above and after the jump. The sharp threads Anoop is wearing are from designer Malan Breton.

On Friday afternoon, Anoop sat down for an interview at the Times Square Hard Rock Cafe with Robin Milling of Blog Talk Radio. Listen below, or click this link.

The wide ranging discussion included deets on Anoop’s upcoming album–a Bollywood-influenced pop album tentatively called “All Is Fair”.     Plus, lots of interesting info on his childhood, college years, Idol experience and growing up Indian in the south.

Earlier in the week, Anoop was in Nashville writing with   Josh Hoge (they wrote a song called “Everyday”).   While in town, he found a minute to hang out with Ricky Braddy and Melissa Doolittle.

Anoop has also been writing in Los Angeles with S6 Idol, Brandon Rogers.

And on Sunday, Anoop will perform the National Anthem before the Tar Heels ACC Opener basketball game at the UNC in Chapel Hill.

Anoop Desai has a ton of stuff on his plate as he prepares to release a single and an album sometime in April.

On Tuesday, he shot some sweet photos for his upcoming album with fashion photograher,   Karl Simone.   See above, and more at Team Anoop Desai.

After the shoot, Anoop took off for Nashville, where he plans to work with songwriter Josh Hoge on some new material.

(I saw the talented Josh Hoges perform a few years ago when he opened for Elliott Yamin, Josh is also real tight with Season 6 Idol, Chris Richardson. But I digress.)

Of course, in Nashville, there will also be reunions with Idol buds Ricky Braddy and Danny Gokey…

On Friday at 1 pm, don’t miss Anoop’s interview with Robin Milling at Blog Talk Radio, more information HERE.   The topics will include Anoop’s upcoming album, his stint on Idol, and more.

On Sunday, Anoop will perform the National Anthem before the Tar Heels basketball game at UNC.   It’s the ACC opener!

WRAL TV Raleigh reported on their 10 pm news tonight that hometown boy, Anoop Desai, is planning to release a single this spring, followed by an album in April.

Here’s Part 2 of the video series Anoop Desai taped with WRAL Raleigh’s entertainment editor, Kathy Hanrahan covering entertainment highlights of 2009.

In the latest video, Anoop and Kathy discuss the year’s scandals, including all the usual suspects: Jon and Kate, Balloon Boy, Kanye West and of course, Tiger Woods.

I’m betting Anoop doesn’t give a rat’s ass about celebrity gossip–so props for playing along, and very nicely, I might add.

Kris Allen is back home in Arkansas for the holidays, and today he visited the Arkansas Children’s Hospital to celebrate a $10,000 donation from KYE-YAC International, a non-profit organization in Hot Springs aimed at involving youth in philanthropy. Prior to the check presentation, Kris visited patients in the hospital’s main playroom, Camp Wannaplay. For more info and a photo of the presentation, Check this out.   Watch a short news clip HERE.

Anoop Desai and WRAL.com’s Entertainment Editor, Kathy Hanrahan discuss the year in Entertainment in a 2-part video series. Part 1 covers celebrities we lost this year, including Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze and Brittany Murphy. Check it out HERE. Part 2 will be posted tomorrow. Also, Anoop will be part of WRAL’s coverage of First Night, Raleigh’s New Year’s Eve celebration, complete with an “Acorn Drop”–whatever that is! per Kathy Hanrahan’s twitter.

Carrie Underwood is set to appear on the People’s Choice Awards, airing on CBS January 6. Carrie is up for Favorite Female Artist. If she’s appearing, there’s a good chance she won in her category. Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Daughtry, Susan Boyle and American Idol are also up for awards. AINOW.org is reporting that Kris won’t be attending the ceremony.   No word yet on any of the others.

Matt Giraud is stoked! Last night he tweeted “Just got done with the first rehearsal with my NEW BAND!! Wow. These guys are incredible. Finally hearing how my songs sound with a band!” Matt is getting ready to fly out early tomorrow morning to Oklahoma, where he’ll be singing the National Anthem before the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game on New Years Eve.

Blake Lewis is working on some new music.   He tweeted today, “Just finished writing a song with my friends @samshrieve and Rachel Taylor of He Is We. Great song, now its time…”

Good news for Season 8 contestant, Anoop Desai. He recently signed with the public relations firm, JS ² Communications.

And according to this press release, Anoop will be releasing his first single in   Spring 2010.

Anoop Desai was a fan-favorite finalist on Fox TV’s #1 series, ‘American Idol.’  He recently toured the country with ‘American Idol Live!’  As a singer and song writer he will be releasing his first single in Spring 2010.

Anoop moved to Los Angeles from his native Chapel Hill, NC after the American Idol tour wrapped up.

In October, he unveiled two new original songs songs: “Give In To Her Love” at the North Carolina State Fair and “L.U.V.R” at the UNC Homecoming Concert. Both songs were co-written with David Mikush.

Anoop has also been writing with Season 6 Idol, Brandon Rogers.

Check out Anoop Desai singing “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)” and “All I Want for Christmas is You” at last night’s San Francisco Tree Lighting ceremony in Union Square.
